Holy shit medkit phighting
my top ten games of 2024 that nobody asked for
i'm bored as hell waiting for something to install so i'm gonna make a list. these are specifically games that i first played this year - some of them may have come out earlier or not be complete yet (in early access).
10. Little Kitty, Big City
this game's gotten a good bit of criticism, but it was enjoyable enough. gave me more of what i always loved from untitled goose game and added a quite heartwarming story on top
9. Neon White
great gameplay and worldbuilding but the story shoots the game in the foot over and over again. worth playing if you can look past that part
8. Titanfall 2*
absolute classic in the realm of movement shooters. what more is there to say
*i've played through this game three times in years past but i'm running out of ideas for this list
7. DUSK
what i played was great but i simply could not be assed to do one of the early-ish levels. completely throttled the momentum of the game for no reason.
6. CARRION
i respect metroidvanias for their mechanical genius, but they're often not for me. that said, the pure power fantasy offered by carrion pulled me in and led me to 100%.
5. Baldur's Gate 3
great game. just oh god too much content for the way i play video games. haven't gotten through act 1 yet so i can't put it higher than this lmao
4. Dear Esther
the beginner's guide made me want to explore the world of walking simulators more and so i decided to give one of the first a try. and for as obtuse as it is sometimes, it absolutely blew me away. heartbreaking story and what made me want to see more from the developer (see #2)
3. Hypnospace Outlaw
kept having to use hints because i'm a dumbass. great game, though - the era it emulates was a bit before my time but i still had a blast with it and the story went in a direction i did not expect. worth grabbing for sure.
2. Still Wakes The Deep
after playing dear esther, i saw that the developers had made another game with some incredible graphical displays. played it and cried multiple times in the short playthrough. horror is not usually my thing but still wakes the deep excells in its genre.
ULTRAKILL
i've played 126 hours of it since i bought it and have beaten the currently-available story i think about 8 times. self-explanatory.
