Show day
16/05/2019
Today was a very busy but a really fun day. We had our exhibition set up in the morning and then preparations for the show began. Everything went smoothly and the show was amazing. I am really grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the organisation team as well as participating as a model for the catwalk myself wearing the amazing garments made by talented 2nd year fashion design students. Overall, the show was an amazing and rewarding experience!

Today, when carrying out my further research on In-Touch trend on WGSN, I discovered a very interesting Netherlands based Lithuanian product and jewellery designer Marija Puipaite. She works with tactile materials and inspired by human intimacy created a project ‘’Embracing touch’’ where she showcases her own handmade jewellery designs, that adapt to human body. I think Marija Puipaite could make a good first collaboration with Issy Hambly, as both designers are exploring similar concepts.

Consumers
27/07/2019
Following the feedback received from the presentation, I made some improvements concerning Issy Hambly target consumer. I came up with the archetypes, identifying three key consumers as different materials. These are: Wool - the comfort seeker - mature female market; Cashmere - the cozy soul - our primary consumer in their 30s; Silk - the modern artist - our youngest consumer in their 20s. To visualise my ideas, I created a Pinterest board.

Range development inspirations
19/04/2019
Created a Pinterest board to collect some inspiration for Issy Hambly range development. Our range development will consist of three steps. Phase 1 - a line of tactile accessories and potentially jewellery; Phase 2 - lounge-wear; Phase 3 - possibly stretching into menswear some time in the future, as Isabel Hambly is planning to do so.

ISSY HAMBLY competitors
16/04/2019
As new brand Issy Hambly will inevitably have competitors. After careful research conducted, these are mid-to-high-end labels, such as Stella McCartney, Victoria Beckham, Max Mara, Massimo Dutti and COS. All these brands offer similar product range. However some of them are more focused on trends, rather than functionality, as well as visual aesthetic rather than tactility. What differentiates Issy Hambly is our USP - tactile handmade and crafted designs and the concept of touch.

MACRO & MICRO trends
12/04/2019
Proceeding further with Issy Hambly brand development project, I looked into key Macro and Micro trends that could potentially influence the business. One of the macro trends found on LSN: Global is Immaterial fashion, which is all about seeking for new digital ways to engage with our clothing. Another Macro trend was found on WGSN and is called In-Touch. The trend explores the rising urge to reconnect with everything that touch us in this digital era. When it comes to Micro trends, Digital fabric trend, discovered on LSN: Global, explores the possibilities brands have translating tactility of the materials into an online setting. Conscious aftercare trend is all about prolonging the life-cycle of our clothing. All these trends can potentially affect Issy Hambly brand, therefore are carefully analysed in the report.

ISSY HAMBLY logo
09/04/2019
Today I came up with a logo for the brand. Since Issy Hambly is all about tactility and touch, the silhouettes of her designs are inspired by the chemical formula of oxytocin that is released when we touch. This is what influenced the logo. The capitals tapped over inside the hexagon are the initials of the designer Isabel Hambly.

Designer meeting
03/04/2019
Today I had another meeting with my designer Isabel Hambly. This time we discussed her logo preferences, future plans for range development (Isabel showed a great interest in making accessories) and possible pricing. As Isabel’s main focus is personal interaction with clothes, we talked about the story behind her potential brand in more depth. During the meeting she also specified the artist who inspired her designs and had a great impact on the concept of her collection. These are Dafna Kaffeman, Rachel Dein, Andrew Myers and Craig Warde. The artwork of these artist is focused around tactility of the objects they create.
Isabel’s garments are highly dictated by fabrics. ‘‘Choosing the fabric is not a job, it’s a pleasure. During various exhibitions I satisfy the need to experience the fabric before starting creating a collection. I train it and imagine what kind of life it could give to a garment’’ - said Isabel.
The meeting was very productive and inspiring. Isabel provided me with many great insights to proceed with Brand launching process in the upcoming weeks.
