I love how humans have literally not changed throughout history like the graffiti from Pompeii has people from hundreds of years ago writing stuff like “Marcus is gay” “I fucked a girl here” “Julius your mum wishes she was with me” and leonardo da vinci’s assistants drew dicks in their notebooks just for the banter and mozart created a piece called “kiss my ass” so when people wish for ‘today’s generation’ to be like ‘how people used to’ then we’re already there buddy we’ve always been

Weekend recap: Yesterday, Dad drove the family down to VA; I met up with my beautiful boyfriend, Kobbie, and had the pleasure of meeting his mom and dad. We ate great food (California Pizza Kitchen, anyone? & good ol’ Cheesecake Factory) and saw a movie (The Secret Life of Pets - Kevin Hart as a bunny:10/10).
Today, I met Kobbie’s super cool bestie Daniel & his amazing gf Cate. We all went to King’s Dominion (and never to took a group picture but oh well). I got on roller coasters though I was terrified so I’m proud of that 😅
For the perfect end to a perfect weekend, when we made a pit-stop at Five Guys for some food on our way back, I saw two incoming freshman that have been on my mind since Ebony Affair (the black CPW), Adedoyin & Naomi ❤️

Hopelessness.
That feeling when you can’t feel anymore Because the hurt is too strong When you wish you could forget But every second of every day you are forced to remember When even the person who loves you most Can no longer believe in you. Don’t get lost You are all you have left Without her, there’s only Hopelessness.

To the class of 2020 (and to all whom may read this),
Whether you know it or not, you all are graduating at an amazing time. My dad pointed out to me that for nearly half of my life, we have had a black president; anything is possible for us. College campuses across the country are being turned upside down. In this great time of change, there are a few pieces of advice you should know before jumping into an experience unlike any other. Be proud of who you are and where you come from: LOVE YOURSELF! Whatever school you go to, you earned your spot there. Period. End of discussion. You can do the work; you got in. People will look at you and assume that because you’re a woman or black or hispanic, or for whatever reason, you are less qualified. But what does any of that have to do with what’s in your head? (nothing). Don’t let people use your identity to discredit you. You are an incredibly intelligent person in the same spot they’re in who happens to come from wherever and have whatever cultural background. Your perspective is powerful, and what you have to say is important no matter what you are wearing, who you are talking to. Do not be afraid to make mistakes. MISTAKES don’t nullify your intelligence or successes. If you didn’t make them in the past, you wouldn’t have gotten to where you are now! The important thing is that you LEARN from those mistakes. Take care of yourself. You are the only person that can make sure you get enough food, sleep and exercise. SMILE! In many minority communities, mental health is not discussed as a serious issue; but depression is real, anxiety is real, and we need to recognize that sometimes we may need help from a mental health professional such as a therapist or social worker. I encourage you all to advocate for a mental health professional of color on your campuses if you need one at any point during your college experience. Find a balance between socializing, sleeping, and studying. You don’t have to choose two. Support and LOVE YOUR FRIENDS and peers. Do not underestimate the power of good friendship. If you ARE a great friend, you will ATTRACT great friends in college. And when not-so-great friends are around you and want to steal your shine, you DROP THEM like a sack of bricks. You don’t owe anyone your time and energy. You must choose where you dedicate your time and energy. (One big place is your academics since that’s what you’re paying for. So friends that don’t encourage you to be a good student gotta go). Do NOT be afraid to ask for help. You should respect your friends enough to feel comfortable asking them questions whenever you need help. A real friend should always encourage you to be your best self. You should encourage your friends to be their best selves. If you see your friend struggling, you need to tell them, “hey, you have so much potential, but you’re not living up to it right now. What’s going on? Should we start a study group together? Is everything okay? If you don’t want to talk to me, is there someone else you’ve been talking to?” If you love someone, don’t let them struggle without knowing that they have people around who will help. Follow your passions. Use college as a time to find what you love and make it something you do every single day of your life. Don’t let other people dictate how you will live your life (unless you tryna hurt people. Don’t do that). People will try to impose their priorities on you, but if have a talent you will work on and the motivation and drive to make your dream into a reality, don’t stop yourself from giving it your all. Usually people spend their time chasing money to buy things that will make them happy, but they miss the little things in their daily lives that makes them happy like… creating cool games, eating delicious food and having fun with their friends. Yes, money can buy happiness to a certain extent, but it’s not the money that makes us happy, it’s how we spend it. Life is short! Be happy and have fun for as much of it as possible! Surrounding yourself with amazing people and being grateful for the people love is a totally free source of happiness. Do not be afraid to ask for help!! You are doing life for the first time, just like everyone else is. But there are people who have done what you are doing and can help you! These are some things I wish someone would’ve told me these things before I left for school. To be honest, it’s totally possible that someone did tell me, and I just didn’t learn my lesson until I got through my first year. A lot of this stuff is MUCH MUCH MUCH easier said than done, but I urge you to give some of it a chance. Ohana, Gabby

A Day in the Life
*walking to Newark Penn with two friends*
Random GROWN Man #1: “HEY I LIKE YOUR DREADS!”
Me: “Thanks!” *continues walking*
RGM1: “CAN I FEEL THEM?”
Me: “Noo” *continues walking*
RGM1: “WHY NOT?” RGM2: “CAN I FEEL THAT BIG BUTT? I DON’T WANNA FEEL THE DREADS!”
-insert tired rant here-

Y'all gotta check your privilege. Not everyone has a family that holds them down. Be grateful if you do
People with good parents get so offended when abused children speak negatively of their parents. Like…REALLY offended lol.
They say things like “Your mom would do anything for you” and “Your parents sacrificed a lot for you!” and “I don’t respect anyone who talks down on their parents.”
But just because YOUR parents would do anything for you and sacrificed a lot for you doesn’t mean it applies to all parents. We don’t have the same experience boo. You can’t tell me shit about what my mama would do for me. All moms and dads are not created equal.

Anyone ever notice when white people want to cross over into the R&B territory they immediately draft a black barber and get a Caesar?
Justin timberlake, Nick Jonas, and now this Zayn dude. I know he not white white but I do know he had a full head of hair when he was singing to these white teeny boppers
