love castiel as a character because he feels no emotions for the first kajilion years of his existence and all of a sudden he can feel things now and his first two emotions are queer longing and catholic guilt. literally who else is doing it like him

the thing about "its a gift. you keep those" is there is nothing remotely literary or deep or even interesting about this phrase but purely because of the context its so deep in our hearts and weve thought about it so many times that it acquires so much hidden meaning that it definitely didnt have

like. did dean know how much it would mean to cas to give him something, finally, that he could keep? how much this phrase would mean between two people who were brought up on conditional love? "its a gift." giving is what dean does. he says this and you think about all he has given on top of this small gift, you think of everything before, a history of so much love and so much giving in one tiny moment. "you keep those." cas didnt know how important love was going to become to him when he met dean. it wasnt a part of his world, his life, he didnt know he needed it. and now its the one thing he has that he knows can and will outlast everything else. the thing that has become more important than everything else. the reason for his survival, the reason hes still here. "you keep those"

Thinking about Dean and Cas sharing a New Year kiss. Thinking about Cas taking Dean on a journey through all 24 time zones so they can keep having the first kiss of the year over and over. Thinking about them kissing at the beach on Kiribati island, toes in sand, warm breeze in their hair. Thinking about them holding hands in the middle of Soeul as the crowd counts down from ten. Thinking about Dean pulling at the lapels of Cas' coat in a quaint Finnish village and Cas smiling against his hot breath. Thinking about them being in love and being excited that they get to spend another year loving each other!!!!

cas not healing himself bc he likes when dean tenderly and gently patches him up… he heals the major things, bc well one it hurts and two, he doesn’t like truly worrying dean. but the minor stuff? dean brushing his fingers over his forehead right above his left eyebrow to apply a butterfly bandage? or dean dabbing cas’ knuckles w antiseptic and cas’ winces and dean so achingly gently says ‘i know, I know cas.’ those are times cas revels in. soaks up all that tender attention like a flower in the sun. dean brought it up once, while he was wrapping cas’ wrist, ‘cas why don’t you just.. I know you could probably do a much better job at healing this than i could’… but cas just gives those puppy dog eyes like 🥺 you don’t like healing me? and dean is like no cas nothing like that.. i never mind patching you up just.. think you could probably do a better job at it is all. And cas’ expression goes soft and full of sincerity says ‘your healing is warm…mine is cold…sometimes it’s like you’re the only source of warmth in the world… ‘ and dean clears his throat and falters from his task just barely, dares a glance up then goes back to deftly wrapping cas’ wrist, ‘well. you can always come to me to warm up. anytime cas’
