"The Good and the Bad: How Social Media Affected me as a Gen Z Individual"
Nowadays, social media has a vital part of modern society. All people can connect or interact with other people, sharing information, and learning new things. Our Generation Z is the most exposed to technology. As this, social media has positive and negative effects when it comes to its Generation Z individuals. As a Gen Z, It allows us to stay in touch with our family and friends and learn many things on social media from different platforms such as YouTube and Google, it grants us the privilege to broaden our knowledge and dive deeper into the things that we are interested, to discover it in a simple and quickest method possible. According to Hayden Rahn, "The Boston-based advertising agency that conducted the social media survey, found that 61% said it had a positive impact on self-confidence". Especially on the platforms that our generation used for posting their photos where they get a lot of likes and compliments from their social media friends and that boosts their confidence. The negative side of social media is when it affects our mental health. According to (Maison Vie New Orleans, n.d.) "Between 2007 and 2017, the suicide rate for people aged 10 to 24 increased by 56%, and Social media, particularly among this generation, has been linked to an increase in depression. Statistically, Generation Z is much more likely on social media, and studies have revealed a link between social media and poor mental and emotional health." which causes Generation Z to be the most vulnerable to mental disorders. Aside from that, it can lead to distraction and Addiction. It may also lose connection with the people you love because nowadays people are more likely to spend more time scrolling to their gadgets. Overall, this generation is more likely to be expressive and dramatic. That is why we should be accountable for our actions and feelings, and doing so will help us grow as a person and can contribute to a better society. Gen Z should be an agent of change to counteract the harmful effects of social media.

Digital Divide in the New Normal
In this new normal, we're all aware that most of the things that we do in our daily lives such as school, work, meetings, business have been shifted or are being held online due to our situation. The digital divide gap is now wider during the new normal. This will have a huge impact on the people's culture and education, may create barriers to studies and knowledge, lack of communication, isolation and especially on education because it requires a stable internet connection and a good laptop or smartphone to use to be able to be comfortable doing your work and schoolwork and not everyone can provide that to themselves or their children because a lot of people don't have enough financial support. After all, some lost their jobs and even struggled to survive daily during this pandemic. Without reliable access to virtual classrooms, many students cannot take part in remote lessons. As schools close, they shift to web technology which affects every culture in different ways. The digital divide affects poverty and people living in poverty by limiting the access to achieve enhancement of both social and cultural capital. For those that can neither afford nor keep up with our ever-advancing world of technology, that's because of their state of life. On the other hand, is Connectivity – the connection to sufficient data, for useful services, at the right speed, on adequate devices – must become the top priority; the risk of an increased divide needs to be addressed with even more focused effort and collaboration.
According to Dr. Hania Khan (2021) "individuals have been able to access or shift to the internet, yet there are still 3.5 billion people who do not have a reliable internet connection. In this new normal, we should know some rules and regulations, such as how to stay safe from viruses, or how to protect our individual lives, but due to a lack of connectivity, they are unable to obtain accurate information from organizations such as the World Health Organization". Additionally, According to a study conducted by Varghese (2020) there are still solutions to close the digital gap. "A community should be able to access the internet for everyone. Create offline services or workshops while still adhering to the protocols. Make use of your resources. Companies should use posters to hire individuals so that even if some people don't have access to the internet, they can find jobs through posters". People and nations will be increasingly included in knowledge-based societies and economies as the digital divide is bridged. Every community in the globe will benefit as a result of this.

Delivering News in the Present Age
In today's generation news is a crucial information that we should all be aware of and gather. It consists of issues, situations, and politics that we, as citizens, should be concerned about. In today's world, where technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, it can still be used to disseminate information to a large number of individuals. Through print media (newspapers, magazines), broadcast news (radio and television), and the Internet are all examples of this (online newspapers, news blogs, news videos, live news streaming, etc.). And also Technology has changed the way news is produced and consumed around the world. It has also affected the way it is delivered. delivering news in the present age is way better than previous age, there are many search engines that explain about everything you need to know, examples are Google, Mozilla Firefox, internet explorer. This is what the current technology or electrical devices we have today are for. Because information spreads swiftly and effortlessly, which is exactly what we want. Do you believe we can still obtain important information right now? People nowadays dont even hesitate in posting and spreading news that aren't even helpful to us. There are numerous “false information” websites that fight for attention with dramatic headlines and ludicrous tales that are more likely to be spread due to users' lack of fact-checking or reading beyond the headline. As a result, genuine content is becoming increasingly difficult to come by. Wrong information, is more likely to spread than the truth.
According to The Media Insight Project's new thorough study, trust and trustworthiness in news can be split down into distinct characteristics that publishers may implement and consumers can detect. The study also discovers that in the digital age, some hitherto unexplored criteria — such as the intrusiveness of adverts, navigability, load times, and having the most up-to-date information — have become increasingly important. This study was designed to move beyond traditional conceptions of trust in the news. These general measures of trust have been identified in long‑standing academic research, but leave publishers with little practical guidance on how to make their products more trustworthy or reliable. We measure the reasons people rely on sources in order to provide insights into the importance they place on specific factors that might be related to trust. We then link these specific factors to more general principles of trust such as accuracy or completeness. But eventually being responsible for our action, disciplining yourself of what are the correct things to do and making decisions that will not cause harm to society are the best solution to create a more peaceful and meaningful life.

“Understanding the Relevance of Information and News Literacy in the Midst of Social Era”
“A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.” by Winston Churchill. According to J. Klurfeld & H. Schneider (2014) and I quote “The great irony of our time is that there is more information available at our fingertips than anytime in human history, but less and less confidence in that information.” on their study on News Literacy: Teaching the Internet Generation to Make Reliable Information Choices, it was all about the students that did not trust the H1N1 vaccines used for immunization of individuals 6 months of age and older against influenza disease caused by H1N1 2009 virus because of the information that they got from a youtuber that said she couldn’t walk anymore because of the vaccine but the truth was she did not took the shot, believing that only the young ones and older has to have that vaccine despite the facts and studies about how important for the them to get vaccinated. The issue here is not about how does media affects the people but on how should people share and use media. It does not just affects peoples life, their mental health and the way they believe but it also costs someones life. Here in the Philippines a lot of Filipinos don’t want to have vaccine for the reason that they are afraid to die or to be a zombie and ignoring all the information and facts from the person who really know it. And we could’ve prevented death and save lives, but because of our ignorance people neglect what truly is the right and this may leads us to death.
Media has been the flatform of every person to express, know and share their thoughts and feelings. As we are living on today’s generation and being able to get information everywhere, anytime, being a news literate will give us an advantage not to be fool and carefully processing, knowing the facts. As media and Technology is evolving everyday, it widens the influence it has to people. Traditional media are prompted by media users to transfer content to the Internet, especially through social media. The traditional mass media began to incorporate online content distribution so that audiences may get media content directly through cell phones via online news sites. As a result, they may stay up to date on the latest information and news, as well as provide immediate feedback that may provide lessons and peace of mind to other users. At the end “the greater the power the greater the reponsibility” let us learn how to be a responsible users and effective citizen for our country

Media Evolution and the Changing World
What would a world like be without media? As we all know, technologies, social media, and the internet have been a part of our lives and in this world. We thought that we might don’t need it, but we do. These institutions are linked together and share the same goals to provide relevant information to the whole world. The hearing was the most valuable sense of reception during the tribal age, and as time passed, our forefathers discovered tools that they used for survival and began carving through caves to relay information to their groups, from the letters found and written only on stones, to printing papers, televisions, and so on. These changes molded our humanity and altered our way of existence. This made knowledge and communication more accessible to everyone in the world. Through social media, people have been able to connect and communicate with each other in new ways. It has also brought about the expansion of ideas globally. However, it has also been observed that the impact of social media on society has been significant.
If there is a positive aspect to the media, there is also a negative side. Some users are not using the platform properly and are not being cautious with their actions and words, they are not considering whether what they shared or posted is accurate information, they are leaving comments without fully comprehending the information, and they are unconcerned if their words hurt someone. Furthermore, if some people use the media to share and extend their knowledge, some children, particularly teenagers, are destroying their lives by failing to attend school because they have become addicted to playing online games. This can hurt their health because they are unable to eat or sleep properly. After all, they are too busy playing online games. Taking everything into account, it may have altered our way of life on this planet, but it serves its objective of keeping people informed through the information they provide. They successfully serve as a watchdog in our society, which is the most important service that the media can provide to us and the rest of the world.
