oi, mate! love your art!!!! was just wondering......could i have a tiny, very smol eyes tutorial *pretend like a question mark is here. my keyboard is glitching* i just love how you do your eyes and everypart of my anatomy is fine BUT EYES. like 👀 again,LOVE UR ART
sure!
so, I use very pressure-sensitive brushes a lot (if you have procreate it’s brushes like gesinski ink and studio pen) because I like how I can weigh in on lashes and such.
but back to basics. I draw very “square” eyes as my dad likes to call them. to draw my “usual eyes” or the one I’ve noticed I’ve been drawing the most lately, here’s my step by step process:
the middle of the eye should relatively stay along the line of the top of your ears, but it varies with styles.
for side profiles, I do a shape similar to a triangle?
As the angles change to front profile my eyes tend to look “bigger” in default shapes unless I’m drawing with semi-realistic shapes like I did there ^
how I draw pupils are fairy simple, it’s just a circle. but depending on the emotion I may change the size of shape of the pupil to fit accordingly. Also with emotions, depending on which one I may add stress/crease lines to show tension, like when I draw anger or fear I draw a scrunched nose, eyes so wide that worry lines show up, etc.
a lot of my basic eye shapes were heavily inspired by sad-ist’s eyes, so if you want more references go check out their animatics and stuff :] basic TIPS I have are:
practice realistic eyes so you better understand their proportions both by themselves and on a face.
eyebrows!!!! my style has very expressive and exaggerated eyebrows- they help convey emotion a whole lot more than you think. practice shapes sizes and their arches!
look into the importance of line weight- my art has a very line weight heavy look to it, and that plays a lot into how I draw my eyes depending on which brushes I’m using.
also, I add a lot of lines like blushes under my eyes, as you’ve might’ve seen before like in these sketches:
it’s how I draw blush and I think it adds a nice something extra to the face so it doesn’t feel blank
that’s all I got for ya, I hope that makes some sort of sense since I’m not the best at explaining stuff :]
