Otto's Description of Honkai

Chapter 17-5

(For those who want to delve into Honkai lore)

"What is the Honkai?"

Spoilers Ahead

Otto spent many years searching for an answer to this question. The search spanned 5 centuries and 2 eras. He knew more about the Honkai than the other 7 billion lives on Earth. The more he knew...the less he understood. Otto finally realized that he knew nothing about the Honkai. Where did IT come from? Where does IT want to go? What drives IT? To what end? Why was IT created? How would IT end? How does IT grow? Why did IT stop? Why does IT erupt? Why is IT silent? Does IT have a persona? A gestalt? Or is IT simply a law set at the very beginning of existence? Otto was inundated with questions that pushed him into the terrifying abyss of the "unknown". He desired to push forward, yet he found no path. He wanted to start his search, yet he did not know where to go. He searched. His confusions grew. He failed and he lost his way. In his frustrations he tried many experiments. The pain of discontent plagued him. Over 500 years had passed. The hypotheses he tested and rejected were beyond counting. Answers were transposed, adjusted, combined, and taken apart. The cycle was repeated. The tapestry remained broken. But after enough cycles, an image began to appear in the obscure sea.

"Let us now imagine a tree - the Imaginary Tree. A massive tree whose crown cannot be seen, whose canopy of branches and leaves blots out the sky. The Tree emerged from an endless Sea of unfathomable depths and boundaries. The Tree and Sea are alone in the Universe. Thus began their never-ending rivalry. The Sea swells while the Tree extends its roots. One seeks to flood. The other seeks to absorb. "The Tree has drunk from the Sea and endured an asamkhya of time and grown a nayuta of branches, and leaves. And it was during this seemingly endless time that an unassuming branch grew a new bud. This was the birth of human civilization.”

Otto achieved his eureka when he finally learned of the Imaginary Tree. Chaos gave way to order. He saw the path meandering through the darkness. He ran along this path. Every step he took brought him closer

to the light. Soon, he was at the very edge of science itself. Previous attempts to acquire knowledge stopped here, but he must keep going and enter the yawning abyss.

"Imagine it! The Imaginary as the origin of the human race and the seed of civilization! Time flows in the trunk of the Imaginary Tree and branches out into an infinity of worlds. Every branch is a form of civilization. Every bud is their past and present etched onto the dimension of time.”

"But growth is countered by a force - a selective and corrective system in the Tree's rivalry against the Sea. A natural system based upon the Imaginary mechanics. It breeds, nurtures, tests, and removes. This is what humanity describes as the Honkai.”

"Indeed. Humanity will never escape the Honkai. We must press forward because the Tree must grow. Those who fail become wilted shadows in the Sea of Quanta. To achieve everlasting peace, we must reach the origin of civilization and return to the Imaginary realms. The answer I seek must lie within the Imaginary Tree...”

Otto finally found the way to the truth after having endured 559 winters. He explored the Sea of Quanta, Ether Anchors, and Imaginary constructs. He also found the Divine Key. He experienced uncountable failures, obstacles, difficulties, and impossibilities. Otto did not care for the impossible. He decided that it must be made possible. Otto Apocalypse must enter the domain of GOD. Otto Apocalypse must ascend the Imaginary Tree.

Okay so it seems like Sampo and my theory about him being Sam the Stellaron Hunter AND a Masked Fool and/or an Eminator of The Elation are never leaving my brain so I’m collecting my posts about him and adding a new thing that I only just discovered. 

- X for initial thoughts on how characters fighting path =/= personal path

- X for why Hoyo’s names are IMPORTANT

- X for why it would make a lot of sense for the Stellaron Hunters to have an Eminator of The Elation as a team member

- X for why Sampo running with Kafka reinforces my Stellaron Hunter theory (there is a tiny kit spoiler for an unannounced upcoming character, this spoiler has NO story spoilers just my tying it into my theory. It’s only after a large line break so you can avoid if you want)

ON to the NEW thing!

So theres a mini neutron bomb you can pick up on the Luofu

and you get a message from Jing Yuan telling you to either bring it to Qingzu at the Seat of Divine Foresight or to use another disposal message if we think it will be safe

If you bring it to Qingzu and open the package it will explode and you will get a message from Sampo

SO

1. He KNOWS we are here! Theres no way he would know that unless someone on Luofu told him.

2. the connection between the explosion and the message clearly implies that he is responsible, and if so; 

        a. he came here and planted a bomb, awfully convinient timing for him to  come, when we also know suspicious others who also came here.

        b. some other criminals we know planted it for him. i.e Blade and Kafka are humoring his chaotic shenanigans because either it benefits them to do something/get away in the chaos it would create, or they’re humoring him the same way that Kafka is humoring Blade’s revenge antics. 

3. He finds it amusing/doesn’t care that we know he is doing this kind of shit. I feel like this implies that whatever bounty he has from the SH is high enough to make him not care about whether we know OR because Kafka and Blade are showing part of their hands to us, he will as well.

4. Since he would know that the Trailblazers are part of Elio’s greater plan (for us to fight Nanook I guess) he doesn’t care if we know he does chaotic stuff like this because he figures we’ll end up on the same side anyway.

Unrelated new thoughts/observations

– Every encounter with him in Belobog seemed measured. He made it seem like they were chance encounters but whenever we needed to be somwhere he got us there. And he always seemed to know exectly where he needed to be, ESPECIALLY in a snow drift just as we were passing to not only be introduced to us but to also put us into the hands of the Silvermane Guards rather than just walking into the city an possibly not being able to, in a sense, move along the plot. Almost like he was following a SCRIPT, like we know Elio gives to his fellow Stellaron Hunters.

– We know from little lore bits around Belobog that Sampo somehow was able to disguise himself successfully as a woman for some time, which seems not very plausable with his figure. I posit that Sampo may be a shapeshifter and that he is the CAT. this is unsubstantiated. I just think it makes sense. This may also be how he seems to vanish into thin air sometimes, just shift into something tiny or discreet/unnoticable when nobody is looking. 

– If he had a big bounty like the other Stellaron Hunters that might be why he has spent so much time on a planet that is disconnected from the greater universe, even if he gets into local chaos/trouble it has no greater reprocussions like it would in the rest of the IPC connected universe.

September 11 2023 — small rant

12:14 — official time i ended the show.

I just finished Moriarty of The Patriot and omg…. It was amazing! Truly impeccable, not a single flaw in this show— omg. 

I understand Williams' character so deeply, and relate to him. His desire for a better world where all are treated equally. His understanding that even foes, through a common enemy— you can make a friend of that foe. He literally wanted unity. Evil purging out evil. Omggggg. Obsessed. 

I relate to one of his traits too. Basically him just locking his emotions away, not letting anyone see too much of them, until it all just opens up by someone (sherlock was that key. where my sherlock fr???) and then literally having kind of a breakdown. His “suicide” because he could not think of another way to pay for his sins. omg. omg. omg. I may sound like an idiot right now, but it's late and I'm sick and I love william. I love motp. omgggg. about researching all of this in real life. might have to read some ff too after all this.

also for my bungo stray dogs enjoyers, does william not remind you of a certain someone?

edit — just found out manga still publishing. definitely going to read that! also am definitely going to read from the beginning. i cannot. this is amazing.

a little lovesick satoru drabble after that horrible suna one, i really hope this is better.

"oh god, here he comes." shoko sighs as gojo is nearing you, geto following close behind. you look over your shoulder and quickly turn back when you see the white haired, extremely annoying male.

"y/n-channn!!" gojo sings and throws himself on you, giving you not an inch of space to breathe with how he pushes his head and hair on your nose.

"hello satoru," you push him but fail to make him move so you pull his hair.

"OUCH! why would you do that to meee!?" gojo whines and stands up, turning around to look at geto who's grinning, amused by the situation.

"don't laugh at me! i'm suffering here." he pouts and shoko lets out the laugh she had been holding in.

"it couldn't have possibly hurt that much. stop overreacting." you say which only seems to make him sadder.

"now you announce me a drama queen, how will my heart ever recover?" he raises his hand to cover his face dramatically, contradicting himself. he never misses to give you an oscar worthy acting, so talented they would hire him to play in a shakespeare theater if he applied.

"you'll be fine." you mutter and open your book again, mumbling a curse under your breath when you realise you lost the page you were on.

"see, now i have to go through all the book to find my page." you sigh but gojo doesn't seem to care, still busy whining about how rude you are towards him.

"you never act this way with shoko, or geto. he's much less handsome than me- no offense bro." he turns at geto, who doesn't seem to mind the comment enough to argue back. it's just gojo and his usual dramatic-ness after all.

"because shoko is my best friend and geto is a really nice guy, who is definitely more handsome than you by the way." satoru quite literally throws himself on the ground after hearing those words come out of your mouth.

"i'd rather die than hear those words again coming from the love of my life." he closes his eyes. he looks like the people playing dead to fool a bear.

"i told you to stop calling me that, and it's the truth, he's much much more handsome, and cool, and strong.." you start counting but gojo cuts you off.

"i'm gojo satoru, mind you! the one with six eyes and stuff you know. i'm literally the coolest and the strongest."

"this is why they don't like you back." shoko chuckles and you sigh, putting your book down again. he doesn't look like he'll let you read at all.

"gojo-" "satoru, please. i want my love to call me by my name." "i am not your love, satoru, please leave me alone. i already told you i don't like you." he has called you a sadist multiple times. even 'the cruelest person on earth'.

"you do, actually." he smirks, "you looooove me. how could you not?"

"i currently do not feel anything positive towards you. i might start hating you if you don't get up soon." you'd be surprised how quickly he gets up after that.

"no, please don't! we still have to marry and buy a house with pets and raise kids together-" he gets on his knees and hugs your legs in front of him.

"slow down satoru, we don't even date yet." you laugh at this antics. he's the most stubborn person you've ever met, dedicated to get you to like him romantically. it's not like you really hate him, you sometimes even think you might like him back. just a little bit. but it's fun seeing him like this, so desperate for you. (it makes you feel nice.)

"yet?!" he springs up, grinning from ear to ear. "so we might date in the future?"

"not if you keep doing this."

"what if i take you out to dinner?" you act like you're thinking about it.

"maybe if you also take me to the bookstore later and buy me ice cream."

"GETO, DID YOU HEAR Y/N? we might go on a date!" he jumps on geto, hugging him tight. shoko and you are practically dying of laughter at this point.

"get off of me." geto pushes him away but also smiling, seeing how excited satoru is and happy since two of his close friends are finally about to get together. he's also glad he doesn't have to suffer while watching these moments on first row with shoko. (they don't know it'll be much worse and annoying after you start dating though.)
