Fashion is a funny thing to talk about. I think what you wear is definitely an extension of you, but I also think it’s totally arbitrary.

On her mom: “I feel like she’s made me who I am today, so it’s hard to sum it up into one lesson. But I guess she’s always been intentional about me being me 100% of the time. She’s put me in environments in which I felt comfortable to be who I am –  whether it’s a person that loves history or a person who loves N'Sync and podcasts and crocheting – and she’s taught me that it’s A-okay. I feel like that’s really allowed me to act too because I’m able to pull from all of my random experiences that I’ve had from just being me.”

Here’s the first look at Hidden Figures, the story of pioneering yet unsung Black women—namely the “human computers” Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae)—who worked at NASA during the intersection of defining moments of the American Century: the Cold War, the Space Race, the Civil Rights movement and the quest for gender equality.

Her Story wins 3 awards at Trans Film Festival in Germany
Best Picture
Best Actress - Angelica Ross
Best Actor - Christian Ochoa
About Her Story: “Trans women in the media have long been punchlines, killers, indications of urban grit, pathetic tragedies, and dangerous sirens. Rarely have they been complex characters who laugh, struggle, and grow, who share strength in sisterhood, who seek and find love. Her Story depicts the unique, complicated, and very human women we see in queer communities. Her Story features predominantly LGBTQ women, on and off-screen.”
