they’re dressed up as wall-e. Ree holds up their bag.
“trick or treat.”
"Trick or treat? ... Oh, right! Um..."
Welp, that put him on the spot. He didn't have any candy to hand out. Hells, all he had half a pastry.
And when it came to sweets, he was too greedy to give that up.
It leads him to awkwardly search his pockets. Making a point miss the bottlecaps he had (no way was he giving those up either).
So what does he come across?
A little mini red stapler he swiped from the desk of one of his superior's from the last time he was at one of the many Team Rocket hideouts. Now, why does he have this, specifically? Mainly because it was the one thing closest to him after the grumpy superior called him incompetent. What better way to retaliate than to swipe something of value from the grump when they had their back turned? (Even though it was a clearly a cheap little office stapler that happened to be a red one, but he refused to let that sour his supposed triumph).
And so, he tosses it into their bag.
"Uh... Happy Halloween?"
