Taken from a speeding car, a New York Central freight train hurries past fields and power lines, just north of Lafayette, Indiana on Saturday, June 12th of 1942.

Recently, I've been reading The Great Gatsby and I've been enjoying it so far. The scenes taking place in the Valley of Ashes are kind of intriguing to me, showing life in the ash heaps of Queen's in the 1920's before they would be completely wiped away to make way for the '39 New York Worlds Fair. Those who lived there, those who couldn't afford to move away, forcibly removed to build this grandiose fair showcasing a better future. Makes me sad.

A rare brochure from the 1939 New York Worlds Fair called "FACTS TO REMEMBER ABOUT MEXICO." It includes recent (at the time) stats about things like its population, industries, the nations history, etc. On the back includes an ad to learn Spanish by listening to a Phonograph.
