Here's my list of every possible Echo Fighters for every single confirmed Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighters.

Rules: 1. Not including fighters who already got an Echo Fighter: Samus, Peach, Marth, Roy, Pit, and Simon Belmont. 2. The Echo must be from the same franchise as the fighter it based on: For example, Dr Eggman cannot be an Echo of Bowser Jr. 3. It must not be a “different form” of that fighter, since it’s more likely to be a costume than an Echo: So no Dry Bowser. 4. The hitbox and movesets must not be too different. The main point of an Echo Fighter is that it takes little development time to be made.

The Bros. and the Doctor

I honestly don’t think we will get another Mario/Luigi-inspired fighter. And for some of you who said that Paper Mario could be one: he’s too unique enough to be a brand new fighter. As for Dr Mario, I can think of one potential Echo: Dr Luigi. His Neutral Special could be an L-shape pills throw, dealing double the damage than Dr Mario’s pills.

King of Swing 

With the Switch port of Tropical Freeze, Funky Kong had entered the spotlight. He could easily copy some of DK’s move set, while implementing his surfboard. I also had a crazy idea of adding Arcade Donkey Kong, as another representation of the Old-School Nintendo.

The Three Links

Like Mario and Luigi, I’m not expecting another Link to be added to the roster. Those three fighters, and the other Zelda characters,  kinda represents a good chunk of the Zelda franchise. However, it lacks portrayal of the older Zelda games. Which I got the idea of adding Classic Link in the list.  

The Hungry Dinosaur

Birdo could be an Echo, but the problem is that she didn’t appear in any of the Yoshi’s game. Then again, both Yoshi and Birdo comes from the Mario universe. There is also Boshi from Super Mario RPG…

But, let’s be honest. There can be only one character from Super Mario RPG who will be in Smash.

The Pink Puffball 

I manage to think of only one potential Echo: Gooey.

Gooey first appeared in Kirby’s Dream Land 3 as Kirby’s ally. And, just like the Pink Puffball, he can absorb powers by eating enemies. The only difference is that instead of inhaling, he licks in with his Yoshi-like tongue.

The Space Animals

I got nothing. If we ever gonna get a StarFox newcomer, it has to be Slippy and/or Peppy. And these guys doesn’t fit Fox/Falco/Wolf fighting style.

The Two Mouse Pokémon

Improbable, but it would be cool if Raichu joins the roster. We could have the whole Pikachu evolution family, including Alolan Raichu as a pokéball Pokémon.

The Mother Protagonists

We got the hero of Mother 2/Earthbound. We got the hero of Mother 3. It’s time for Ninten to join Smash.

The F-Zero Pilot and The Great King of Evil

There’s two that I can think of: Black Shadow and Blood Falcon. Black Shadow is considered as the main antagonist of the F-Zero games, which would fit well with the whole “Good vs Evil” theme that Smash Ultimate is having. Next, there’s Blood Falcon. According to the F-Zero canon, he is literally a clone of Captain Falcon. Even though I didn’t look up every single one of them, I think any F-Zero pilot could also have the Echo treatment. Phantom Ganon could be a possibility also.    

The Balloon Pokémon

Ummm….Wigglytuff? Igglybuff?

King of the Koopas

I got nothing. Maybe Dark Bowser? Nah.

The Dynamic Duo

No Echo Fighter. Sorry.

The Stealthy Sheikah

Obviously, it has to be Impa. But which incarnation? Maybe Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, or even the Hyrule Warrior? Another possible Echo for Sheik is Master Kohga, from Breath of the Wild.

Princess of Hyrule

Just like Sheik and Link, the Echo could be another incarnation of Zelda. And I think Toon Zelda would be interesting. There’s also Hilda from A Link Between Worlds.

The Clone of Mew

Any Pokémon that are humanoid would do the trick. Maybe Gardevoir?

The Masked Swordsman

Many Kirby fans knows who Meta Knight’s Echo could be: Galacta Knight. There’s also Morpho Knight, from Kirby Star Allies, which is just an upgraded version of Galacta Knight.

The Spy Who Thinks Inside the Box

I might have missing out some potential Echo fighters, since I know very little about the Metal Gear franchise. So here’s what I’ve found: Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Raiden, Solidus Snake, and Punished “Venom” Snake.

The Rest of the Fire Emblem Crew

Oh boy, more Fire Emblem! Whichever main characters from Fire Emblem: The Three Houses who fits with any of the three characters fighting styles would make sense. And there also The Black Knight for Ike.

Soon-to-be Pokémon Champion

Basically any protagonists and Pokémon Starters from Gen 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. Or maybe we could get a Rival Pokémon Trainer. However, in order to be an Echo, they need to be: 1. Still use Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard. Or 2. Use 3 different Pokémons that shares some similarities with the original ones. But to be honest, if we ever get a new Pokémon Trainer in Smash, it might as well being a unique character than an Echo.

Monkey See, Monkey Hoo-Hah!

Dixie Kong had a better chance of being an original fighter than an Echo. Same with Cranky Kong. Then there’s Donkey Kong Jr.

Unlikely, but man would that be cool.

The Fastest Thing Alive

There’s a lot of buzz about Shadow being a potential Echo, and I do agree. But Metal Sonic could also be a good contender. Then there’s Tails, Amy, and Classic Sonic.

The King of Dreamland

Captain of the S.S. Dolphin

Since Alph is Olimar’s alternate costume, it’s not guaranteed if these characters end up being as Echo fighters: Louie, The President, Brittany, and Charlie.

The Aura Pokémon

Like Mewtwo, any Pokémon with Lucario-like feature.

I got a theory: Back when Isabelle got announced as new Smash Bros fighter in the last Nintendo Direct, Tom Nook makes an appearance to bring up the confirmation of a new Animal Crossing game. But what if this is a tease of Tom Nook being in Smash? While we’re at it, pretty much any of the Animal Crossing casts could get a shot.

The Super Fighting Robot

Unfortunately, MegaMan’s updated Final Smash debunked the possibility of ProtoMan and Bass being Echos. The only one that I can think of is Roll.
