other people are all there is (bitter sarcasm)
other people are all there is (tenative assertion)
other people are all there is (casual observation)
other people are all there is (joyful epiphany)

The thing about Katara is that she was angry.
She was angry that the Fire Nation killed her mother.
She was angry that her father left them.
She was angry that she was the only Waterbender left in the south pole.
She was angry that the only person her age was her brother, who constantly disregarded her interests and her role in the tribe.
She was angry that what little waterbending she knew, had to be self-taught and how she struggled with that.
she was angry that a twelve year old instantly picked up what had taken her a long time to learn.
she was also angry that her tribe wanted to kick that twelve year old into the wilderness over a mistake.
she was angry over the earth-benders the fire nation had captured and put into a metal box.
she was angry.
And she knew she was angry.
Because she knew her own anger, she was the first to empathize with Aang when he got angry.
And it was because of it she could tell Aang forcing himself to lock his emotions up was not the answer.
Because she knew her own anger, she kept herself under control in the dessert, when everyone else was a mess.
Her anger empowered her. where anger was a tool of self-destruction for firebenders, for her it was what helped her push forward.
It was her anger that freed Aang.
It was her anger that helped her stand to Pakku.
Her anger was her strenght.
She was angry. And this was neither a mistake, nor a writing flaw.

IT'S SOLITAIRE DAY!
Criteria of the day:
Make sure your school isn't burning down, if it is you should probably call someone
If it's cold, wear lots of layers
If you watched any films last night, pretend you didn't
If you have printed out a blog's posts and stuck them in your room obsessively, take them down if you haven't done it last night
Leave your house at 5:24am exactly (unless you absolutely can't; if you can't, pretend you did)
Have a can of unopened diet lemonade with you all day at all times
Call that friend you haven't spoken to in a while
Hang up on said friend when they tell you to go home if you have left the house
DO NOT BREAK INTO YOUR SCHOOL, though if unavoidable, you do you.
If your school is burning down, GET THE FUCK OUT and don't stay in there
And most importantly, please DO NOT try and commit suicide. Talk to someone, and please get help. It may not make you feel immediately better or 'fix you' but know you are appreciated and loved and you belong in this world. (If you need to talk to anyone, feel free to message me)

im in love with maggie stiefvater’s brain bcos she really said “nobody likes a rags to riches story until after it’s over” in the first book and people have spent the last decade repeatedly proving her right

Most Alice Oseman books have very low stakes and all problems are usually wrapped up my the end EXCEPT Solitaire in which a fucking school burns to the ground

the visualization in my brain of gansey going through the stages of grief because ronan wrecked the pig, getting emergency steered to the kitchen by his big sister, calling ronan and then taking the phone away from his ear to check the caller id when kavinsky picks up, only to politely answer with ‘joseph.’ is throwing me into hysterics rn

Adam Parrish canonically gets dry and cracked skin on his hands, probably enough for it to bleed. He would have heard a hundred times about how it looks like he's been in a fight, a joke that never gets funnier every time he hears it. Adam "Do you think it makes me look tougher?" Parrish. Adam, who goes to punch the wall and just presses his hand against it. Who is terrified of becoming his father.
And, despite all that, still has cracked and bleeding knuckles, without needing to hit a thing. As though, no matter how hard he tried to avoid it, the capacity to hurt was written into his skin- inherited.

i think too often about adam parrish becoming gansey at harvard. wearing gansey's old clothes, using gansey's old words, picking up the outcasts and the freaks and giving them somewhere to belong.
that quote about "i think ultimately you become the person you needed the most" but it's adam parrish and the crying club

wild to me that ronan witnessed his father empty a clip into the devil’s head as a boy and that’s not even in the top 10 weird ronan moments

do u ever think about how niall lynch was a devilishly handsome son of a bitch who was impossible not to like, naturally commanded the attention of everyone in the room, told stories as easily as breathing, ruled over his own particular corner of the world, didn’t even seem real until you knew him, died facedown on a gravel driveway, and then do you ever think about gansey.
