nah, sadly, there won’t be a second season; the show is based on the book Barracuda by Christos Tsiolkas.

Hey! I just watched the whole series and was very moved by it as a former athlete myself. However, I am still perplexed whether Martin loved Danny as well. In my opinion he also loved Danny and was either bi or gay; he did not want to dissapoint his family further and thus tried to shut this part of himself. Also, it seems that Coach Torma and Martin's sister both knew of Danny's and Martin's relationship and sexuality, but were always supportive. What do you think of all this? Thanks mate:)

imho Martin was in love with Danny too but he chose the seemingly easier way out (also, as you mentioned before, he didn’t want to disappoint his parents a second time/ be a “failure” again) - so he married a girl. To me, his weird reaction (”Piss off!”) to Danny’s I fucking loved you! showed that very clearly. Having said that, I know that Martin was obviously straight in the book, so maybe they were just queerbaiting us...  >_

Shows you how far behind in my TV viewing…I’ve just gotten around to watching the Logies now (well, I’m watching a bit at a time, but I only began that process yesterday)…and when I saw he won tonight, I thought, ooh does Abby know! But of course you do! ;-)

can we please talk about martin staying at home and watching danny swim, staring at the tv like a lovesick puppy while his girlfriend is sitting awkwardly beside him like wtf ??!?

watching parts of that episode again, it feels like the moment he decided not to go was symbolising his decision against danny, against being gay and for a life that is not his own and will not make him happy. not completely, that is. *big sigh*
