Downhill mountain biking is a very young and unrecognised sport in India. It has seen a significant increase in popularity over the past 2 years, with more events coming up across the country. Back in 2012 there was only 1 race in the country, now there are 5 annual events held across the country. Here are a couple of images from the Bangalore Mountain Festival -Robin Darius Conz

The Piton de la Fournaise, a 2,632 m (8,635 ft) high effusive volcano started erupting on the 31st of January 2017.

For once, I was on the island when it happened and headed out there twice last week to shoot this incredible show of nature. You never know how long those spectacular events will last (the last one was in September 2016) so, if it is still active once the current poor weather is gone I might pack again and get back there for round 3 and get new angles in a few days. Note: Reunion Island is located 800km east of Madagascar. -Nicolas Rakotopare

Its not very often that you call a ‘weather day’ because its too sunny, but such was the case this past week while shooting a story about crabbing around the famed ‘buoy 10’ at the mouth of the Columbia River Gorge. We were looking for cold, wet and rainy… typical winter weather for the PNW, but instead we got sun. So to make the most of a nice day my assistant, Will Saunders and myself went for a quick run up to the summit of Saddle Mountain. A popular summer adventure due to its proximity to Portland, it was dead quiet in the middle of winter. -Tim Kemple

Bears are without doubt my favorite wildlife subjects.

I love taking images in inclement weather, especially in snow, creating dramatic wildlife images in environments many will never get to see, nor want to endure. Put the two together and you can see why polar bears are at the top of my photographic list. -Charles Glatzer
