Their guests were finally gone, the girls were asleep so Jasper took it as a good opportunity to try and grill his husband. “So,” Jasper clicked his tongue as he looked at Gabe and leaned against the kitchen counter. “You and Dr. Cradle Robber are good?” he asked. “Lately hes been looking more constipated than usual.” @frvnscos
Gabe paused in opening the bottle of wine, hand frozen on one of the glasses, but only briefly so his husband wouldn’t get too suspicious. “He’s fine,” Gabe replied after he recovered. “He’s about to have three girls under the age of three. And for someone who never intended to have children, that’s a little jarring,” he continued, finishing pouring their glasses. “I think Emmett was trying to hide it around your brother, but he saw through it.” Gabe handed one of the glasses over to Jasper. “Dylan asked me to check on him is all.”

Emmett looked pout the balcony to where his husband, Nari, her parents and their surrogate were just chatting, laughing, unaware of anything that was going on. And he wanted to keep it that way. “I know,” he groaned when he heard Gabe’s voice. “I would do it again, though. And I will do it with every ass-licker she sends to spy on them,” he turned his attention fully to Gabe and took the drink in his hand, drinking it with one go. He nodded as Gabe explained what he had done, feeling grateful that the other had his back. After all, nobody else knew how his sister could get as he did. “Thank you,” he gave him a small smile. “I just feel helpless. She’s not going to stop and she made it very clear that day. And if anything happens to them, it will be my fault.”
"Emmett, I know. If it was Jasper or the girls,” Gabe looked at him, not finishing that thought. “I get it.” He looked over to the party, where Emmett had been looking. He knew it was so easy to get lost in what their lives were now -- marriage, kids, seemingly perfect. But then there were times like this where they were reminded of their pasts. “You’d have done the same for me and you have before.” Gabe shook his head and continued, “I don’t think it’s just you, though. I mean, you’re fueling it now because your sister’s a bitch, but I think we need to revisit what I said before.” He leaned back against the railing and looked at his brother-in-law. “That Jasper’s wife was killed the year before Dylan almost was.” He shrugged, “Someone pissed at their dad maybe? it’d be fifty levels of fucked if it was because of him, but nothing would surprise me anymore.”

“You really fucked up. I don’t blame you, but you fucked up,” he started, walking out to the balcony where Emmett was. “Might want to make it a little less obvious, though.” Gabe handed his brother-in-law one of the two glasses he brought out and nodded towards the Manor where their husbands were. “He asked me to come check on you.” He stood beside Emmett, his back to the railing so he could look at him. After a moment, he let out a breath. “She can’t rat you out without telling on herself, so there’s that. I’m obviously not telling Jasper, but if anything comes to the office, it’ll disappear, ” he shrugged, unbothered. “I couldn’t find anything on him, so he must have been a lowered ranked minion she was training.” Gabe looked at his best friend for a moment, expression softening a bit. “Are you okay?” ; @accioavocados

“Yeah but two at the same time? With a toddler, hyperactive dog and a Gryffindor at home?” he groaned as he took a sip of his drink. “I feel like taking up smoking again at this point.”
Gabe snorted. “You’re a doctor and this took some planning. Shouldn’t you have known that was a thing that could happen?” He gave him a teasing look as he walked over to sit across from him. “You’re a really good dad, Emmett. And when you’re complaining about your Gryffindor, just remember, I have to deal with him and Jasper shoved into a seven year old girl’s body every day. I haven’t killed her yet, you’ll be fine.” Gabe went to take a sip of his drink, but then he stopped. He smirked, realization hitting him. “Oh. You could get an Ava. This made it all better.”

“It’s the first time I ever hear you complain about that,” Jasper countered as he looked up at Gabe. “Yeah, a real shame,” he mumbled against his lips before he moved his kisses across Gabe’s jaw. He stopped right at his neck and pulled completely away from his husband, letting out a sigh. “But you’re right, I suppose now as the Head Auror I should be the epitome of professionalism, shouldn’t I?” he tilted his head to the side and looked at Gabe. “You know, there is a bunch of paperwork I need to go through but since I am apparently so tired, I’ll need to delegate it to someone. Shame most of the interns have been scared away,” he mused. “But you know, since you’re partner, you know my cases very well.” A smirk appeared on Jasper’s face as he finished his sentence as he stood up to get that pile of paperwork out of his cabinet. “So, how’s that for a punishment, eh?”
Gabe gave Jasper a look when he started a trail of kisses along his jaw and to his neck, knowing exactly what his husband was doing. “Since I’m your partner, your cases are my cases, Head Auror. The paperwork is already done on my end, so nice try.” Gabe raised an eyebrow when Jasper stood to get the paperwork and reached out to grab his tie, tugging him back over to him with it. “I’d say I could handle it because that punishment would also be punishing you, mi amor.” Gabe stood up so he was in front of Jasper, still clutching his tie. “When’s your next meeting?”

Jasper opened his mouth to say that there was something else that was the hardest about the last three years but decided against it, wanting to give them at least 5 minutes before they get gross and work inappropriate. Not that his husband didn’t know what was on his mind already anyway. He looked at him patiently, waiting for any reactions to his words, not at all surprised that Gabe denied it all. “You really think so?” Jasper hummed as he rested his head against Gabe’s chest. “I suppose it makes sense, especially when everything is still a mess,” he carried on and moved his hands to rest against his husband’s sides. “Because I really don’t have it in me to punish whoever would have done it,” he added and looked up at Gabe, rising his brow.
“You’re abusing your position as Head Auror.” Gabe smirked when he rested his head on his chest and slid his hand through his hair, making him look up at him. “Mm, shame you don’t have the energy for it. I might have actually confessed then.” He tugged him up a little so he could kiss him, moving both arms around his neck. Gabe pulled back a little to look at him, but kept his hand around Jasper’s tie. “You must be feeling better with everything if you’re back to trying to seduce me in your office.”

“We’d been getting these looks ever since you got here nearly three years ago,” Jasper spoke, his voice of any emotion as he waved his wand to close the door behind Gabe. “Can’t believe I’ve been dealing with your ass for this long,” he rolled his eyes but a smirk appeared on his face. “Don’t threaten me with a good time, Travers,” he mused and closed the file he was working on, turning his full attention to his husband. “I need to ask you for advice, as my partner,” he started. “Apparently there’s some guy walking around, looking like me and scaring off all of the interns,” Jasper paused, giving him a look. “Have you heard anything about that, mi amor?”
“Wow. Make it sound like these were the hardest three years of your life.” Gabe smirked and went to sit on Jasper’s desk in front of him, picking up the file he was working on. He skimmed through it, humming when Jasper started talking again. Gabe paused at his question, raising a brow. “Well, that sounds slightly accusatory, Head Auror,” he replied, tossing the file aside as he tilted his head to the side. “I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Maybe you got so busy you blacked out and have no recollection of walking around scaring off all the interns.” Gabe reached forward to fix the collar of Jasper’s shirt. “Because you know, cariño, you have been really stressed out. It could happen.”

“Question. Do you realize what kind of looks I get when I come in here?” Gabe walked into his husband’s office and gave him a look. “If you didn’t call me in here for actual work related reasons, I might actually smack you.”

♕ — Victoire was about to say her thank yous when Gabe said something about a horse and her brow furrowed for a moment. “I think you’ll have to apologize to Teddy yourself. The moment Iris mentions anything about a new pet, I’m the first and the fastest to say yes. You haven’t had the pleasure of going to my cottage. But it’s basically a zoo.” She chuckled softly as she followed behind her friend. “It’s an adjustment but I think she’ll be fine. I mean, after James was born, we gained an army of cousins in the blink of an eye. We don’t talk about it but we are a family of breeders at the end of the day.” She snorted at her own joke and then shrugged. “Tired all the time. Feel like a walking blow fish, but I’m well other than that.”
“Ava wishes ours was a zoo,” he breathed. “Maybe we should switch kids. I said no horses and somehow we have two.” Gabe smirked. He looked over at the next thing Victoire said and made a face, before laughing. “I cannot believe you just said family of breeders. That’s disgusting,” he teased, catching his daughter’s gaze from where they were in the backyard. Gabe nodded for them to wrap it up, but Ava shook her head and he rolled his eyes. “Okay, then. Non-alcoholic drink while we wait? Before I drag her inside. Or give up and let her live outside.”

◜short bio◞
Gabe was born in Santiago, Chile. His father was Head Auror of MACUSA. He met Gabe’s mother, Florencia, the astronomy professor at Castelobruxo, while on business in South America. His mom and her family had ties to Death Eaters and when Gabe was six, his parents got a divorce after his father found out. He took Gabe back to the States full-time, where he attended Ilvermorny. Talk of a Successor to Voldemort began during his last years of school and he found himself, by choice like his mother, mixed up in a group of American Death Eater sympathizers. Despite being a pure-blood, Gabe never had a strong opinion when it came to blood purity, but always had an interest in the dark arts and power. After he graduated, Gabe went to university to study wizarding law, all while still being an active Death Eater. However, he started to have conflicting feelings once the threat of war came overseas. Unable to safely leave, Gabe came clean. He was given an alternative to arrest, which was to train as an auror and work with them, using his extensive knowledge on Death Eaters to track them down. He eventually worked his way up to working as an investigator for the President, but accepted a temporary auror transfer in England after his cousin, Marcie, was involved in a Death Eater attack and nothing came of the investigation. He made the move permanent after he married his husband..

“That bad?” Hayley pulled a face, holding up an envelope she’d been sent to deliver before leaning on the wall and looking dubiously at the door.. “Unfortunately I think I kind of have to go in. Although at least I’ll be an observer so I get to just laugh at the chaos and then come back out?”
“Yep.” Gabe said, popping the p for emphasis. “Eh. Knock yourself out. You’ll regret it” He leaned back in his chair and looked at her. “I’m married to the Head Auror and I’m not even going in there. Everyone’s like walking, ticking time bombs.” He nodded to the envelope. “You want me to give it to him? I probably need to go make sure he’s alive.”

"Hi.” He smiled and kissed her cheek, letting her inside. “They’re in the back.” Gabe nodded in that general direction and shut the door behind her. “Tell Potter I’m sorry in advance if she starts crying about a horse. I feel his pain.” He walked with her to the door leading to the deck. “She stopped talking about the baby, though. I’m sure she’ll be fine eventually. Ava was okay when we brought Abi home. I mean, I’m pretty sure she’s tried to kill her cousin a few times, but that’s her uncle’s fault.” He smirked and walked outside with her. “How are you feeling?” ; @parumvictoriae

"I wouldn't go in there, " Gabe commented, not looking up from what he was working on. He nodded back to the auror offices and shook his head. The last few days since Potter's retirement announcement had been a mess. "It's about to be the equivalent of no-maj World War 3."
