Broad World Info Post: The Polus Galaxy
Note: I am so unbelievably proud of this thing, okay? I want to start fleshing out the plot as soon as possible, but there are still some kinks and knots here and there that need revision before I take a crack at it. My hope is that, by writing out this post, some things will just fall into place. I wish I could properly explain this stuff to my friends so they could give me pointers, too.
Also, this isn't getting into the nitty-gritty of any specifics about humans and how they function now that life has changed. This is more of a general world post. Anyway, here it is.
Broad Info:
This takes place in the very distant future. (~2300) After climate change was deemed irreversible, all scientists dedicated their efforts to finding a new planet for humanity to live on to avoid extinction. The extensive research of the past had already determined that none of the planets in the current solar system were viable, so they expanded their search further.
It wasn't until the dawn of the 22nd century that astronomers discovered what would become humanity's one and only way out: a wormhole located on the edge of our solar system. The entry point that they found was on Charon, Pluto's largest moon. No one knew where the wormhole would take them, but brave volunteers stepped up and offered to be sent through.
Fortunately, the volunteers passed through the wormhole safely several times and relayed the knowledge that not only was the journey safe, but the exit point was on a planet that had everything necessary to sustain life on Earth. With this in mind, efforts were made to evacuate Earth entirely. Future generations will refer to this mass evacuation as The Great Exodus.
Upon settling on this new planet, astronomers discovered that not only were they in a completely different star system, but they were in a new galaxy altogether. Additionally, the planet they found themselves on was already inhabited by the enigmatic Ezori, a species of humanoid creatures that lived in fluorescent pools that were scattered around the planet. After discovering a way to communicate, the Ezori explained to the humans that the planet was (rightfully) named Ezoria, and that they would help them settle and adapt to their new home in the Polus Galaxy.
Humans named the black hole at the center of this galaxy Scorpius Y for their records and conducted extensive research with the help of the Ezori. While they were correct about black holes emitting plasma and consuming all light, they learned that black holes were more than just cosmic anomalies.
Supermassive black holes are the remnants of the Ouranides, the celestial creators of the vast universe. After creating all life within it, the Ouranides relinquished their autonomy and consciousness to become the eternal sustainers of life; they took the form of these supermassive black holes that emit an energy that is necessary for life to continue, as well as a mystical energy that stems from their divinity and fills the atmosphere. The remnants of divinity created the Aether, an infinite source of mystical energy that can be used by any living being in the universe.
Humans are dumbfounded by the existence of magic, but the Ezori explain that humans of the distant past knew of the Aether and made use of it. And in spite of humanity evolving in such a way that created blockages that prevented them from acknolwedging the existence of the Aether, there were still countless phenomenon that were caused by it, even if it was explained by science.
Aethereal Cores (referred to by human scientists as the Quintessence Core) are located in the solar plexus. With focus, education, and practice, humans can clear the blockages within their bodies and open up their bodies to the Aether, allowing them to become capable of magical abilities. Aethereal Cores are also capable of several other feats known as Tuning and Harmonizing.
Note: I want to take a step back for a moment to really hammer home the fact that one of the most important aspects of this world is music. I'll likely get into it later.
The reason why humans were able to reside in Ezoria without too many drawbacks is because the Aether of the Milky Way Galaxy is compatible with that of the Aether in the Polus Galaxy. Every galaxy has their own distinct Aethereal signature, but there also exists one other galaxy that has a signature that is compatible. This means that creatures of one galaxy can safely reside in another.
If at any point they try to access the Aether and use magic when they're not in their native galaxy, there are sure to be painful drawbacks, but they can be overcome. Combining the two signatures is possible through consumption or procreation, and the offspring of the Convergence process are extremely powerful.
As positive as this is, there are some species who actively seek out compatible Aether signatures for the sole purpose of consuming the Aethereal Cores. The only way to remove a Core is by killing the host and digging it out of the corpse. Once removed, consuming the Core of a compatible species is like ingesting a highly addictive substance or performance-enhancment drug. Others may forcibly combine two Cores together for the sake of producing Convergent offspring.
To wrap this post up, there's a major thing to know about wormholes.
Wormholes can only teleport people from one compatible galaxy to another, or from one place to another within the same galaxy. At no point will a wormhole open to an incompatible galaxy. (A built-in failsafe, lol.) But wormholes come in various forms:
The first type is called a Rift. Rifts are personally opened wormholes that are created by people with mastery of the Aether. They set the destination and open and close it at will.
The second type of wormhole is a Gate. Gates are only accessible if the person requesting entry knows their destination and uses their internal Aether to open the Gate. The Gate will close automatically after passage is confirmed. Generally, these are manned.
The third type is a Bridge. These wormholes are also manned, but on both ends, and have a set point of entry and destination.
The last is an Anomaly. Anomalous wormholes are volatile and dangerous; they rip open at random points, are generally very large, and suck in anything in the vicinity. The exit point is unknown, so any human sucked into these anomalies are considered to be Vanished, as they are never seen again. Humans eventually become capable of locating the site of an Anomaly due to energy fluctuations and quickly evacuate anyone in the area to avoid Vanishings, injury, or death.

initially, the plan wasn't to have any sort of original alien species in this new universe. i was going to just repurpose existing mythical creatures and give them a planet with a given aesthetic and call it a day.
but... now i've got the ezori, my favorite native alien species! never thought i could do something like this before. i also have the saorians, a race of aliens from sao 323 that resemble a creature that i've long since birthed, but never made use of.
the issue that i'm currently facing rn is that while i have the skeleton of a plot and relatively concrete mental images of the universe, i'm completely in the dark about the appearance of my main characters. (i mean, i also have to reorganize their importance and names one more time, but... still.)
it's like.. this world is right there. it's looking me in the face! i just... don't know how to give it that final splash of color.
i'll do a worldbuilding post soon. maybe i can think of some stuff as i go and edit accordingly.

fantasy name generator is genuinely my best friend. naming realms and gods is so hard when trying to come up with completely original names, so i decided to splice a few of the randomly generated names and mush them together to create some new stuff for my fresh start.
i'm really happy that i'm able to downsize and get to this point without getting lost in my own concepts. i want to be able to make this world into something i can build stories in. i wanted to share the names of the realms and gods that i've made!
for context: there's divine magic (light and dark, or angelic and demonic), natural magic (elemental, which includes the basic elemental light and darkness, which is fundamentally different from divine light and darkness), directionless magic (magic that requires an apparatus to perform), and cosmic magic (solar, lunar, or celestial magic that is exclusively used by the imperial bloodline).
with that in mind, there are four realms:
Bachomel, the demon realm. This is where Xouri (pronounced ShΕri) reigns. She is the most powerful demon in Bachomel. There is a hierarchy of power that she stands at the top of, and it's possible for her to be defeated and overthrown, but nobody has managed to do so in several centuries. She is the daughter of Bachomel, the Great Demon King from whom the realm received its name. Anything coming from Bachomel is called Bachomellian.
(Note: I'll rename demons and angels because it's only appropriate to fully commit to originality. That's just their designation because their features are ultimately very similar.)
Next is Diosensys, the mortal realm. Goes without explaining, but all mortal creatures exist here. All monsters, inhuman species, and humans are mortal, meaning that their lives can come to an end. However, depending on their magical ability or inhuman status, their lifespans can be greatly extended. Denizens of other realm refer to mortals as the Diosensi.
The realm of angels is Azure Nexus of Etala. (Just Etala for short.) Humans worship Etalans (angels) and see angels as the messengers of "God". There's no "God" in the traditional Christian sense, but similar to Bachomel, there's a leader of the angels: Khalos. There's also a hierarchy of angels, and he can be dethroned at any point. He is actually newly appointed.
Finally, the realm of spirits, dreams, and reincarnation is called Viadrea, or the Viadrean Nexus. It connects all of the realms together and is the birthplace of the gods of magic; it is the origin and source of all magic in the mortal realm. Also residing here is the god of the realm, who judges souls and guides the flow of reincarnation. This god is a little like the Grecian Fates and Egyptian Anubis combined.
the deities are as follows:
Nivaris, goddess of the Sun.
Azuelle, goddess of the Moon.
Syarin, god of the Cosmos (Stars).
Qione and Yther, twin deities of magic.
Xirena, deity of souls and reincarnation.
Humans in the organized religious sectors on Diosenys commonly worship Khalos as "God" because divine light magic originates from the Etalan shores, but there is no longer any supreme deity in Etala. The divine light magic is the supreme deity β the supreme deity (or God) is formless, and is the source of all divine light magic. Etalans (angels) are born from this eternal fountain.
Similarly, in Bachomel, Bachomel himself sacrificed his form to become the eternal source of stygian magic. Demons are born from the River Axiroth, which is the form that Bachomel assumed.
So, just to be clear: Bachomel is the stygian river Axiroth, and Estre (who was once "God"), is the eternal fountain Clisomel. Both supreme deities have no form, no will, and no consciousness. They are merely sources of divine light and stygian magic, and where the denizens of their realms are born.
:D

i just spent AGES writing down a genshin oc's details. around three, if i had to put a number to it. it's been a while since i've been able to really create a character; this one was easy and fun because it's more of a sona than an oc -- this character reflects me quite a bit, but is so different from me that she's her own character!
i'm gonna make an info post about her. gonna be kind of long, so i may break it up into parts, but i'm SO excited and happy.
only disheartening thing is that i can't draw, so i only have one picrew image that depicts my ideal image of her. i tried looking for others that could better capture her image, but... nothing really works. so i'm just gonna use that image. maybe i'll find another one somehow.
anyway! intro posts about ruelle coming soon :D
#[ πͺ β ori's words. ]#i love ruelle so much#she's been through a lot#but she deserves her vision#and she deserves her newfound family#i don't have stats for her#nor do i have like.. elemental skill/burst names or functions#but that's like.. nitty-gritty and not really important to her foundations

making a pinterest board or picrew for my ocs is so hard because i'm so painfully indecisive. i can try and make a sona for myself this way with relative ease, but.. sigh
#[ πͺ β ori's words. ]#i have to figure out the traditional appearances of these inhuman creatures when they take human forms#that would make it much easier#but even then i feel restricted by doing that#i love various appearances okay#diversity is my favorite

[ πͺ β about me. ]
name: orianne (ori)
general info: i'm agender and use they/she pronouns (strongly prefer they/them) | i'm black and i'm 22 y/o (march pisces!) | i'm a creative writing major with a love for linguistics and classical literature/poetry!
some fun facts: i play splatoon religiously, spiders terrify me, i'm a perpetual chatterbox, i'm obsessed with lattes and matcha, and i have an emotional support cat that uses me as his emotional support human.
[ πͺ β writing history. ]
i got my start in fanfiction when i was ten years old, and later began creating worlds of my own to play in.
i'm an avid lover of fantasy and mythology; the languages, the customs, the creatures, the magic... all of it! and that love is reflected in my personal library as well as the stories that i create on my own time. i often infuse the philosophical and religious concepts of the 18th century and worldly mythologies into my own works.
at the same time, i write fanfiction heavily. i wrote kazuha fanfiction on tumblr heavily from 2021 to roughly late 2022/early 2023. these days, i'm more interested in recreating pieces of media that inspired me (like ATLA, genshin, etc.) and breathing my own life into them.
[ πͺ β why make this blog? ]
i'm recovering from a severe mental health crisis, so my writing is fragmented and almost incomprehensible at times. this blog is a way for me to document my growth and become more comfortable sharing my progress again. if i can make friends and learn more about effective creative writing along the way, then i'll be content.
