I really, really dislike Jim Lee's artwork, and I can't, for the life of me, get why he is so popular. Not only does he draw women in the most dehumanizing way possible ( that fucking Vicki Vale illustration) but his art just feels really. Soulless?

I'm not attacking the technical aspect, it'd pretty shameless from someone who barely knows how to use a drawing tablet. But somehow, his artwork embodies the worst parts of superheroes comic books. The far too muscled men, who reads more as power fantasies than as complex, complete characters. The women with ridiculous costumes and worst proportions, standing in extremely uncomfortable positions.

The fact that even though all the characters get god-like bodies, they are profoundly unsexy. Jim Lee's Selina Kyle is so bland in front of Joelle Jones's. His big-breasts thin-waist Wonder Woman doesn't have an ounce of the charm of any female character drawn by Otto Schmidt.
