someone feed her more vegetables please. you do not work as strenuous a job as hers was BEFORE shit hit the fan and actually have the time to cook cook regularly even before effectively raising a kid. part of the reason she's such a bad chef is because cooking is a skill and skills take maintenance)

Logically Lana is aware that that single meow was Major Tom's way of telling her to hurry up; or because he saw another cat; or he felt like it; or just about any other reason that he could come up with but she'd be lying if that didn't relieve some of the tension she hadn't been aware was building in her chest.

Again though, she doesn't know why she's getting so stressed out over this cat. Isn't there some sort of parasite that they host which makes humans get along with them better? Toxomitosis? That can't be right, she'll have to look into it later.

Regardless. With that question capable of pretending to be answered she walks up and scratches behind his ears yet again, practically cooing as she does. "Of course, what a silly question. Forget I asked it, we're almost home."

Although he does trail off at times, Major Tom seems content enough to follow her for now.  Fantastic.  She walks in silence for a while, more focused on not getting lost herself than making conversation with her (mute) companion.  However, after 45 minutes or so, “It’s actually quite nice out.  I can see why you were wandering -” she notes, “- even though you shouldn’t be.”

She begins idly tapping the side of her leg as she walks, questions racing through her mind in rapid succession.  What should I do with the cat once at his owner’s house.  Would knocking on the door and letting them know their cat escaped be too intrusive?  What are the odds that they’d answer the door, let alone care.  The cat looks to be in decent enough health but what does that tell me, I’m not exactly an expert.  If I just let him slip back into a yard isn’t that just a guarantee that he’ll just run out again later?  Why do I necessarily care what happens to this cat that I’ve seen for a grand total of maybe an hour.

Lana stops suddenly in her tracks and looks directly at the cat that’s been alternating between trailing behind and rubbing against her leg this entire time.  “This is a long shot because I know you can’t understand me but meow once if this is a good home, twice if not.”

It being a nice day out is exactly the reason he should be wandering; waste of warm sun to not break himself out and enjoy it.  He knew his family had become fans of rainy days since taking him in; he didn’t run off when there was too much rain.�� ( Waste of a nice warm home to not stay in and enjoy it when it’s wet and cold outside. )

Lost in savoring the walk, it takes Major Tom a moment to realize his companion has stopped.  His ear twists back in her direction a moment before he turns around and sits, head gently cocked.

At her question, he stands, tail vibrating happily, and gives a resounding - single - meow.  Of course his home is a good home!  He wouldn’t be going back if it wasn’t.  What a silly question.
