It’s an experiment: Our hypothesis is that a group of 21 year olds can design and create a community for 7 days, without access to electronic communication, and that it will be fun, inclusive, interesting, that it will illuminate something about what the world needs more of and that it will try (and fail) to be a complete portrait of Dublin’s 21 year olds. We are Lab Rats. We are both the tester and the test subject.

The 21s group took on a Create/ Ncad exhibition in the Artbox.  The group successfully disrupted the usual subdued gallery code of behaviour by completing and handing out tasks from envelopes. These instructions included things from drawing certain things on the brown paper hanging from the wall to starting a round of applause to sticking stickers on people without them noticing among many others. The group on the night included Dan,Mollie,Sadie,Arianne and Christina along with me (Jack) but worked as representatives for the 21s group which aim to introduce more play to the world and where better than to start with the while cube gallery setting?

A guide for parents

It will be viral science, an imperfect census, a failed utopia, a community collected, a portrait of a landscape, a celebratory rebellion. This will be a city-wide, nine-month, public art project that creates a community and activates, engages and empowers the individuals in that community.  We may release balloons, we may delete our data, we will eat cake, we will probably dance.
