Freya had been hurriedly texting on her phone, checking that her friend had really gone home with that loser who she let win at darts before she made her own way home.

Before she could call herself an Uber, Freya looked up from the illuminated screen, brow immediately pulled into a furrow. "Which one?" Freya asks, looking beyond the redhead and into the pool of potential lechers. "Just so I know when to start biting." Sure, she might not actually bite someone but she would definitely do some serious emotional damage.

"You're welcome to join me," Freya extends the invitation. "I was just wrapping up after my friend went home with one of those losers. Can't say she's ever had taste." Placing her phone back in her bejeweled handbag, she turned back to face the woman. "What are we drinking?"

"hi, sorry..." the ginger starts as she approaches the other, bashful grin evident on her lips, "not to be, well, a damsel in distress but do you mind if i hang with you?" rose tucks red hair behind her ear, unable to hide her current flustered nature, "some drunken prick won't leave me alone and i'd rather not have to deal with him anymore." she was hoping he'd finally piss off if she was with someone else. "i can get your next drink to say thanks?"

A winter-time stroll wasn't usually on Freya's list of things to do, but it was at least aesthetically pleasing. What felt like millions of twinkling lights and tasteful tinsel hung from the towering trees. Naturally, her phone was glued to her hands - taking a few photos and videos to edit together a reel of her return home. Eyes to the trees, she watched the finishing pieces all come together as a worker hung a few obnoxiously large ornaments from a Giant Sequoia.

Her eyes were so firmly watching the man, half in awe and half in terror in case he fell and the ornament somehow landed on her - she nearly bumped into a man walking up to her. It took her a moment to think of her answer. "Tax payers money has been put to good use," Freya retorted back. "I'd be more concerned about the possible insurance claim if someone gets crushed by those ornaments. Don't you worry about the Santa Ana?" The wind wouldn't be nearly as bad as in the city, but it could still blow a gale when it chose to.

As the Director of Public Services, one of his duties of care laid within the botanical gardens and Ricardo had a responsibility to ensure that things ran smoothly — not because he cared for the specialist plants, but for the large paycheck he'd receive at the end of the month as long as they survived. He supposed it didn't really matter either way, as long as the job got done.

He walked through their Christmas display that had been created by what he could assume had been the landscape designers. He vaguely remembered signing off on a unusually large shipment of fairy lights and tinsel, but hadn't thought much of it.
