Here are some of the images that have inspired my project.

Sophie, a diligent teenage girl working in her family's hat shop, finds her life thrown into turmoil when a handsome-but-mysterious wizard named Howl sweeps her off her feet. This innocent encounter enrages the vain and conniving Witch of the Waste, who transforms Sophie into a 90-year-old woman. Sophie's efforts to break the curse bring her to Howl's magical moving castle, where she befriends Markl, Howl's apprentice, and the hot-headed fire demon Calcifer. Her love and support have a major impact on Howl, who can be maddeningly self-indulgent and singularly noble. He defies royal orders to participate in a meaningless war and risks his life to bring peace to the kingdom.
I have chosen to use this for inspiration because it links to my idea of turning my rocks and my books into something different like houses, by adding doors and windows like in this moving castle and also in fairy houses.

This is my quick charcoal drawing of my rock tower. This didn’t take long at all and ended up looking really 3D and effective. I only used charcoal for this one and I actually used my fingers to smudge it in the direction of the stones’ shape. It is make up of a lot of layers as when I smudged it the charcoal just came off but when I kept layering the darker shadowed parts it ended up staying and looking quite effective. This was a good quick drawing to get used to the shape of the rocks and to help develop my ideas.

This is one of my outcomes that I have played with and layered on photoshop. This worked really well and I also put some saturation effects on which brought out the colour and made the colours stand out.
This is another one of my images on photoshop.

Ink drawings using my rock tower.
This is one of my favourite drawings that have completed for my project ‘towers in lockdown. I really like how this one turned out because it has lots of different textures like the stones. I created this effect by using my black ink and moving it around the page to create the shadows and to try and make it look 3D, I really liked how these looked at the black ink actually has lots of colours within it that make it have the texture. I also used my fountain pen within it for the marks and the shadows and when I put waters with it it run and made the cool effects. This also meant that I could add the detail within the rocks. I chose to leave the highlights blank and without a line across them to make sure that I didn’t make the images look flat on the page which harsh lines would have. I also made it look 3D by following the curved shape of stones and the shadows. I really enjoyed working in this effect and it didn't actually take to long to complete so I could complete a series of these using different colours and mark making techniques.
