working on CLO3D, adjusting a basic t-shirt pattern, changing the length, style, fit, colour, creating pockets and cut outs, adding elastic.
Started from a basic blanket and making these adjustments to it using the arrangement points and from this adapting the pattern for a better fit (esp. picture 1- around the armhole/over the bust)

Paris Excursion- Back Side/ Dos a la mode | Musée Bourdelle
an exhibition exposing the areas of fashion that are normally forgotten- the back/fastenings/detailing to the weight of a bag on the back. Featured pieces by Comme Des Garçons and Walter Van Beirendonck, photography, sculpture and film.
“In a society that is obsessed with people’s faces, "Back Side / Fashion from Behind" is an original and unexpected theme. By addressing our body’s relationship to clothing from a social and psychological point of view, the exhibition questions the perception we have of our own and other people’s backs.” - http://www.bourdelle.paris.fr/en/exhibition/back-side/fashion-behind
Interesting to view fashion from a different angle- I loved the humour of the short film clips, whilst they exposed the importance of the back/ whether it came in humiliation from a tear in the back of the garment, or being unable to unfasten a dress.

Paris 2019- Collage and the idea of ageing.
Collage/unintentional collage such as the tearing of layers of posters on the streets, or the peeling of paint to reveal what was previously there. In Paris, this was one thing that really caught my attention.

AW2019/20 | THE NEW ORDER
SELFRIDGES
“Selfridges taps a gang of digital artists to imagine the future of fashion”
collaborations with the likes of Cattytay, Jon Emmony, and Ines Alpha
It will be interesting to see how successful a completely digital approach to advertising/displaying their new campaign will be. I love that it features digital artists that promote diversity/inclusivity.  Sensory appeal- in colour.  chaotic yet idyllic feel from the images so far.
How successful will the campaign be in connecting everyday fashion to the digital world?

“William Blake’s paintings tread the streets of London, animated by Sam Gainsborough”
A NEW WAY OF VIEWING ART - could this be an interesting way of presenting fashion?
Familiar places (related to Blake) being painted digitally by the animation of original artwork- to connect an audience with the art in a new way. Emotional connection, and enabling a wider audience by exciting people visually, with movement and sound (poetry) to give the paintings a contemporary meaning.

BETHANY WILLIAMS-
*collection/article from 2016 - still very much relevant to the current social/political/environmental climate.
I since saw a few pieces from Bethany Williams latest collection, in L’eclaireur, Paris. Happy to see that the designer continues sustainable practices, and utilises old plastics to produce her woven fabrics- and creating garments with a striking colour palette. DIY, rebellious and youthful feeling to her work.

ATACAC
atacac’s quirky presentation of digital garments based in the virtual world are so fun. Saving waste by only producing once sold, so the garment lives digitally until purchased- then the value of the garment increases.

FLIPS the current fashion system by working in a completely new way and using the digital world to help it! With the help of marketing, this brand is one to watch out for.

combination of everyday objects with mood- creating relatable, yet shocking images with humour. I love the wit in the photos, playing with scale and aspects of popular culture, the idea of mixing the things we see all the time with humour makes them more visually appealing and brings new life to the objects.

VOLLEBAK RESEARCH - “WE MAKE THE FUTURE OF ADVENTURE GEAR” founded | 2015 | Nick & Steve Tidball Mimics aspects of the natural world to enhance human performance
“from isolation tanks and meditation, to pink noise and colour theory”
TIME magazine's Best Inventions of 2018
tech-based clothing start-up
outdoor - adventure
new materials / tech / production methods
Overall- Exciting, innovative, STAPLE garments- look ‘normal’ but all have bionic features.
There is a definite place in the market for VOLLEBAK- People are so surrounded by technology and stuck in cities, and are slowly returning to nature. Not only do they provide futuristic adventure gear- improving physical performance, survival, and “indestructible garments”, they also care for the physiological well being of their customer, using colour and sound theory, meditation and relaxation methods within their clothing.
