Scandal at Winchester Hall
Washington, United States, circa 1915. You’re a servant for a prominent family in the trade industry. Life in domestic service is tiresome, but the pay and board is at least constant. However nothing is quite what it seems. Shortly after moving to their new estate, the eldest child goes missing, causing scandal and mayhem in upper society as they were to inherit the family fortune and estate. The police are stumped, there is a private investigator sniffing around. Who you choose to believe and work with can lead to his safe return…or the discovery of his corpse.

Customize your character- choose your name, race, physical appearance, background, gender identity, and sexuality
You can decide how you feel about the family you work for
What you do alters the storyline
Four different endings
Romance six different characters- or none at all
Hope you don’t get fired
This game is very much a work in progress, writing and character updates will be posted on this blog

Hi! I've been using your most recent Twine template (thank you so much for sharing it btw) and I was wondering if you could explain how to set up a character menu with visible stats? I've been looking for tutorials but I can't get any of them to work.
hey!! so conveniently, I do actually have a little tutorial/code breakdown [ here ] with some examples - it was originally written for people moving from choicescript so it ties back a bit to that, but fundamentally the key thing to remember is that what you are dealing with is basically numerical data - how you choose to display it is up to you, and your imagination.
the games used as examples are from @roast-ifs, @attollogame & @bodycountgame, and @cerberus-writes wrote the original % bar code which I modified into the opposed stat bars, so big shoutout to all those guys!!

being a wlw and/or poc reading choices books is just like. “yknow usually we don’t mean ‘marginilization’ quite this literally, but wow yeah as I read this I can actually feel myself being physically pushed to the side, it’s kind of incredible.”

So Choices is randomly selecting players for a feedback survey. If you’re chosen, remember to make it clear that we need more diversity in the game, and not just in genres, but also that it needs to be recognized that white storylines aren’t one-size-fits-all where poc are concerned (which applies not just to MCs but to other characters as well, including customizable LIs) and that women need better treatment and to not just be brushed off to the side in favor of the male LIs in the story, among a bunch of other representation issues that need to be addressed

From what I’ve seen after posting and drawing my Dragon Age characters with indigenous/traditional tattooing, there is just little to no respect at all from white DA fans about it. It’s upsetting - this involves more media than just Dragon Age I am well aware - but since DA is the fandom I mainly associate with and see this kind of commentary - I’ll direct it towards that.
In-game, Dragon Age has little respect towards facial tattooing and the cultural heritage the Dalish have with it after it being reclaimed, and in DAI treats it as something negative and to be removed (there are so many racist connotations behind Solas’ tattoo removal I could write an essay if I had the time) - facial tattooing was practiced in my culture but is quickly dying out due to western standards of beauty and religious fundamentalism, it was seen as a status of beauty, of tribal affiliation, and history and now are shamed for it, or often burn the tattoos off themselves. To the colonizers, we were seen as barbaric for having them.
Recently I’ve been getting comments on my various social media accs asking me if my tattooed WOC are trans because “their tattoos look like a beard” and “it makes them look masculine” (none of my characters are cis by default) - but the assumption of masculinity by facial tattooing is just an extension of a enforced colonial gender binary. In my culture, facial tattooing was anything but masculine - it was mainly women who wore them, in fact, for increased beauty and some of the tattoos themselves were to enhance femininity - like chin tattoos. Stop imposing colonial understandings of femininity and masculinity on POC and especially indigenous practices.
Another thing I’ve been getting a lot is that facial tattoos = Dalish even when it’s a human character - which if you think facial tattoos in its entirety belong to a fictional elf people who were based off actual indigenous peoples and who’s tattooing look like fantasy versions of actual indigenous tattooing, you might need to look into more of BioWare’s coding for all of its different backgrounds and how white game devs have never considered much of cultural context before stealing things to insert into their own games.
so yes, white DA fandom, do better, and actually understand and respect indigenous and traditional tattooing before making comments on it, especially on those who actually come from the cultures where tattooing is part of their cultural heritage.
