piracy makes it all worth it man. i get to experience art without giving up the same resource that necessitates my survival. the thing im forced to take hours out of my week to acquire. the thing that will be taken away from me regardless. like! ya! i'm gonna illegally download super mario world [U].sfc from the internet archive instead of purchasing a used physical copy from Lenny on Ebay for 27.88 along with a used SNES for 189.99 plus shipping and handling. Lenny didn't make super mario world! the guys that made it already got paid to make it! some of them are probably dead now! But I'm not gonna get new games either! I'm not paying 70 dollars for a AAA game I don't know for sure I'll play the entirety of, when all the underpaid people that worked on it have already been laid off by the company anyway. And I'm not gonna pay for an overpriced streaming service when i can just as easily go to watchforfree dot en zee or whatever shit!!! Buying things through any service won't guarantee forever that i own that thing. But when i pirate something it's mine forever and there's nothing anyone can do about it. No service shutting down, no drm limitation fuckshit, no lost account, nothing. It's just mine. And I can share it with anyone else who needs it.

In the situations where I can enjoy media and support the artist(s) directly, own the media they're selling, and do so with no detriment to myself. Ya I'll do that. But in all other cases, piracy is the correct thing to do. Not even just for me and my selfish motivations to get free stuff and maniacally horde troves of media like a dragon with its treasure, but also to enable those means for anyone else who might otherwise NEVER have access to that media. Art enriches our lives, and everyone should be able to experience it.
