Truth
“Truth hurts.”
- Lizzo
The truth can be controversial. Some say always tell the truth whether it hurts or not, but some say its best not to know. The truth is a way of life, it's about being honest with yourself and others.

Power
“We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies.”
-Martin Luther King, Jr.
I think we all have the power to love our enemies and be kind to others. I like this quote a lot because it can speak to anyone in any situation. Always love those around you, you have the power to do so.

Inspiration
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it.”
-Steve Jobs
Inspiration is what motivates us to continue on, what pushes us through each paper and tests as a student. It is important to find something inspirational to you so you keep that motivation going!

Honor
“Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory.”
- J.K Rowling, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
I think personally honor is all about integrity, evaluating yourself and really digging deep into what makes you decide your thoughts and actions.

Love
Love can be mutual, romantic, or plutonic. The love I have for my family surpasses the love I have for my friends. I think the word love is used a lot towards our friends or important people in our lives. I love my friends a lot and tell them so frequently. But only close friends! lol.
I also think the word “Love” can be used really loosely. I think it could really screw with someone's emotions when someone says they love them and they really don't. that's kind of evil 👿.

Rejection
Rejection is never a fun subject when it comes to a relationship. You may have experienced rejection first hand when asking out a crush or asking for something from your parents then hearing the word “NO!”
when you really want something that you just cannot live without its hard to feel rejected. I remember one weekend I wanted to go to Halloween Horror Nights with a group of friends and I had already gotten all my work done the previous day. After pleading and trying to convince my mother to let me go, she gave me her answer: “No, you need to work ahead in your classes.” if that isn’t a facepalm moment... I don’t know what is.

Loneliness
Loneliness is something we all feel at times. Some more than others, I can relate to the terrible feeling of loneliness. Sometimes I won’t want to hang out with my friends even if I have been invited out. Loneliness works like an anchor for me, an unhealthy, no good, very bad anchor.
I think at this point, it’s normal to feel lonely sometimes. Friends will always be there to pick you back up off your feet and make you feel happy once again. I remember one weekend I was not wanting to do anything, all I wanted to do was lay in bed and not talk to anyone. My depression was starting to take control of me, but thank god I had my best friend to cheer me up and make me laugh non stop that night out. I’ll always be so very grateful towards my friends and I know I can always count on them to cheer me up when I’m at my lowest.

Hope
The word hope is a word I use almost every day. “I hope I do good on this test.” or “I hope I don't get in trouble for not doing the dishes!”
I had to give myself a round of applause for submitting assignments late, I was hoping and praying I would not procrastinate this week...... but....... HERE WE ARE LOL.
But to me personally, hope is what helps me get of bed in the morning, It’s what carries me through the day hoping I can make it to the end without throwing my hands up in defeat during school.
I can’t really think of much else since its super late at night, I think my creativity is drained at the moment. So here’s a gif of a cat. goodnight.

Beauty
I am 100% sure EVERYONE would love to hide their insecurities and cake their faces with makeup. Makeup is used to cover imperfections that we think make us flawed. But our flaws are what make us, well, us. Beauty is not defined by how much makeup, plastic surgery, or any changes you make to yourself. Plenty of people cover their bruises, pains, and imperfections BUT those imperfections are who we are and we need to own up to the fact that we are always beautiful no matter how “flawed” we think we are. Inner beauty is far more important than how we look on the outside. Society has set such strict guidelines for how we should wear makeup and how we should generally look. Personally, I think pure beauty is what is in us all, but we allow ourselves to be defined by others and actually start to think that our imperfections are really just flaws we HAVE to fix.
Beauty is NOT something that can just be rinsed off and reapplied. Everyone is beautiful, regardless of what others say or do. It pains me to think that people with insecurities hide behind a wall of makeup because of what people may think or say. Don’t get me wrong, makeup can be inspiring and a good boost of confidence, but sometimes people can hide behind that makeup for too long and stop realizing how beautiful they truly are.
THE END... or is it..... (hope everyone is okay during hurricane dorian)!

Respect
Respect, in my opinion, is a character trait many people lack and require. Many people disrespect others and treat others poorly. Respect should always be used towards anyone no matter the age, gender, religious belief, etc. It is so incredibly, essential to be kind and respectful towards one another.
I feel like teachers do not receive as much respect and adoration that they rightfully deserve. My mother has been teaching at Saturn Elementary School for 45 long, enduring years. In her earlier years of teaching, she used to tell me how respectful, honest, and kind her young students were. Looking back at those memories now, there is a drastic change in how students today treat their classroom teachers. Everyone should most definitely respect their authoritative figure, whether that be a teacher, principal, or police.
Respect takes two to tango. While showing respect to your fellow acquaintances, they should also show respect towards you. Respect should always be given and received politely. I may just be rambling on about how we should all respect each other, but we all really should try harder. It is becoming a serious issue in today's times.

Fear
Fear, in my opinion, is something that holds us back from reaching our true potential. We all experience fear in different ways and in different scenarios. The only way to conquer our fears and push ourselves outside of our cozy, little comfort zones is to push through the barricade that is “fear” with the support of family, friends, and those who have influence in our lives.
One MASSIVE anchor in my life is my depression. This is not an easy subject for me to talk about, BUT, I’m overcoming my fear and diving into the deep end a bit to share my struggles and hope to come out an even brighter, kinder person.
Now, I’m not going to into detail about my life story, but here’s just a little tidbit of information about me: I was born 4 months prematurely, so the odds were already not in my favor at this point (lol). My biological mother was sadly a victim of substance abuse which resulted in me being born so early with complications. But I could not be more healthier and normal than ever thanks to the care I received when I was a baby. Tragically my father passed away, also to substance abuse, it took a massive toll on my family. Luckily I and my sister (who is my rock and my absolute world) were adopted by our grandparents shortly after. There were many fears in my life and one of the heavy hitters on my list of fears was the term we all know and love, “depression.” I have plenty of emotional and mental scars that still control my fear to this day. But with the help of others in my life, I can see a better tomorrow. My sister and mother are truly a light in my dark times.
I’ve definitely come a long way from 5 years ago to now. I still struggle, and of course, others do too. But it’s those who help us rise up and shower us with love and encouragement that allows us to break past the walls that fear surround us in
