Flashy is drawn bigger in general, Murata also makes him look harder, like two purple ones. While Sonic is drawn smaller but softer, which contrasts with his personality.

My favorite part of the first and (especially) the second redraw is going to be how they characterized Sonic and Flashy when kids. They weren't perfect soldiers, they were, above all, children trying to survive a chaos they didn't ask to be in/be born into.
