when I started shipping it if I did:

i actually cannot remember...i think the webcomic did it for me like amai mask fr just brought saitama out on near legitimate dates and saitama was like "what the hell sure" (ofc it went badly but its so funny pls)

my thoughts:

why am i always into rarepairs why do i like making myself suffer. but yeah theyre just so funny like so shrek and fiona coded??!?!?!!?!??! they give me ace4ace vibes too and like yeah lets fucking GOO

here is my playlist for them. again, i am stupidly proud of it.

What makes me happy about them:

webcomic chapter 123. good lord. good lord that ripped my heart out. saitama is so good. every line in that moment is everything to me.

if i had to be honest i really like them because of how deeply i empathise with amai mask's character. i still cant believe how fast i switched from him being my most despised character to one of my favourites in the series the moment ONE explained what his deal was. in just a few pages everything clicked, the puzzle of his character was solved and its just a big "OH. he's just like me." RIGHT before putting him through the fucking ringer with that battle and his identity getting ripped open.

and seeing saitama's response to that was just, everything. its the comfort that at least one person knows your heart and your worth despite everything on the surface. idk its really one of the best arcs in the series because of how earnest and heartfelt it is.

i think again its the honestly of their relationship that gets to me. it may come off on the surface that amai mask is only after saitama just because of his strength but i think he's more perceptive than that and sees Saitama's heart too. they both see past the surface and it GETS TO ME!! i love it.

What makes me sad about them:

ngl i kinda gauge how much i like a ship by how much i know about what the characters think of each other. is it one sided? or is there enough information on both sides? in this case its very obvious knowing how amai sees saitama, but not enough moments of saitama showing extended interest in amai. amaisai is an utterly wonderful and romantic ship but it is limited by the little screentime they have. we got an explosion of emotion but theres no follow up thats enough to fuel me more beyond those beautiful moments.

How I feel about this character: 

sonic is great!! not one of my faves off the top of my head but he is incredibly fun and i really enjoy every moment we get with him. we've seen sonic in the series long enough to have formed a lot of endearment for him and for good reason. the sonic fever going on in the fandom rn is quite amusing, even murata is horny for him its SO FUNNY.

i have fond memories of watching the Sonic OVA on the school iPad and being so 🥺🥺🥺 seeing him caring for the baby hog. i love how even though sonic is kinda this gag side character, he's still humanised through small ways.

i remember being kinda devastated finding out how sad his story is in the webcomic and seeing that theres so much more to him than meets the eye. also love how you realise that he picks fights with saitama not because hes doing it for the bit but because he knows saitama is a good bar to hit when it comes to skill and strength. ONE is just great at writing characters.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: 

flash - im such a sucker for childhood friends to lovers. that backstory and characterisation ONErata cooked up in the latest chapters were incredible. at first i was kinda dreading the ninja arc but after seeing how they wrote flash and sonic together i became so deeply invested in their plight, their backstory, the innocence of their friendship and how strained it is now after years of being jaded by reality. idk the drama is just awesome and they have fantastic chemistry too! i remember reading one of their chapters while listening to this song and feeling many, many things

My non-romantic OTP for this character: 

putting flash here again bc i need more moments with these two.

My unpopular opinion about this character: 

im immune to the sonic horny but i am NOT immune to the sonic gender envy. sorry idk what to put here so just a random thought. i love his design sm

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:

need more time with sonic, just on his own. i love seeing the world through his eyes in the time we have with him. also bring back the baby hog i loved that OVA

not rly a headcanon bc its, pretty much canon but i love that he canonically has stomach sensitivity problems and its all flash's fault
