Human-centered Design Workshop
In this workshop session, we were rapid prototyping our first ideas using pen and paper. These were generated and analyzed in the previous User-research workshop. The exciting part was, that in our group there were a lot of very good and different ideas in a short period of time, even if the given elements are that simple: For instance, an orientation “dot” to help you navigate in a shopping mall (Palladium in this case).

My research revealed, that LADBible got rebranded in 2017 by the design agency UFO. This visual and typographic style provide me with a foundation for my film series concept.

Week 08 / LPC Interim Presentations
This is a mood-video I created to find A, the visual style of my video series and B, how I can work with different kinds of footage, such as found footage, illustrations and infographics, incorporated with dynamic sound effects and music.
This was also one of the first visual exercises to implement my idea of creating a video series about space for the LAD Bible platform.
Since the project is a cooperation of LAD Bible Group and Adobe CC, the video series, respectively the concept has to be created with the Adobe CC software – as this video was made aswell.

Week 07 Creative Improvisation in Design Process: Trash-Workshop
In this workshop Helena Jakoube gave us four tasks in which she challenged our creativity regarding to our own trash, we collected the past three weeks.
The first two task asked us to analyze our trash and try to figure out if we learned something new about ourselves through that.
The third task was to try to find ideas regarding three possible approaches to deal with this collected trash: 1. To raise awareness; 2. To recycle; 3. To develop a concept.
The fourth task asked us to execute this idea and to develop some product in one hour. I looked at my trash a thought, what could be a quick solution, that could be executed in one hour. I looked at a Tesco Smoothie bottle, that was standing right in front of me. Through some additional research on the internet I figured a way to solve the problem of reusing plastic bags, that were accumulating throughout the weeks in my flat. I built a DIY plastic bag dispenser (as seen on the picture on the right). The second product evolved out of a Coca Cola bottle. Because the bottom part of the bottom has nicely rounded edges, I tried to cut out small spoons – and it worked.
At the end we had to present our ideas to the others. A lot of interesting and exciting ideas came to light that day.

LPC
In the Live Projects and Competitions class (LPC) we have the possibility to take part at student design awards from three different organizations: D&AD, ISTD and RSA SDA. “In LP&C, students are able to undertake one or more competition projects, or fulfill a live project brief. This provides the opportunity for students to produce graphic work in the context of external evaluation that will influence the direction of their portfolio and be meaningful to prospective employers and/or clients.“
Out of over two dozen briefings I chose the project “Adobe x LADBible” from the D&AD and “Motion Picture (10): How to be more pirate” by Sam Coniff Allende from the RSA SDA.
The “Adobe x LADBible” Project is about a collaboration of the two companies Adobe Creative Cloud and the LADbible Group. They challenge how to use Creative Cloud to bring about real life positive change through LADbible’s channels? They ask to create an inspirational film, animation or photography story pice that spreads a positive message.
I think this projects offers a great opportunity to reach a young audience with a humorous and visually appealing tonality. I can imagine that a film or animation could fit here very well. The first ideas that came in mind where to talk about the topic space travel. It is a very contemporary theme that is socially and scientifically relevant (and it gives the opportunity to make something graphic and visually appealing out of it.) Through research I discovered, that the LADbible platform has its own category “Science”, where there are talking about themes such as space, Nasa, SpaceX and Elon Musk amongst others. This shows the suitability to LADbible. Besides that space travel gives a lot to talk about and is also spotlight of criticism, so showing arguments for the necessity of it could be also interesting. Anyway I will look for more topics that could fit here and will certainly make a deep dive into research of that topic.
The second selected topic asks for: Conceive and produce an animation to accompany one of the two selected audio files that will clarify, energise and illuminate the content. I chose file 2. This audio file is titled “How to be More Pirate” and is an excerpt of a speech by Sam Conniff Allende, Founder and former CEO of award-winning marketing agency Livity. He shares his perception of a new generation of ‘pirates’ and their refusal to conform to an outdated societal system. An optimistic reflection on these young people, it argues that this generation has a better understanding of the changes required to break the mould than any other before.
I think this is also a quite contemporary topic that is for me personally relevant but has a social relevance at the same time. Listing to the audio file multiple times and have done a little research on his book and its promotion I can say that Sam Coniff Allende is an interesting human beeing with an unique view on the world. My perception is that there is several different opinions and satements of this very topic out there. So an interesting objective would be to compare these.

Week04 Drawing Challenge / Illustration Workshop: Part 1
In this class, led by Franco, our objective was the following: We had to pick a random short sentence from any newspaper and then do quick 10 illustrations. The idea behind the quick illustration was, to experiment with different techniques and tools without having a specific style. Eventually we had to repeat that process, now in mind of using photocopies and scaling and resizing. In the next step we printed out a type version of the sentence and put our graphic into context. Lastly we had to pick one illustration that gives us the style that we now have to apply for five more illustrations with different topics.

Tesla is getting along with only a single big screen in the middle of the Model 3 dashboard. You can control the whole car with this one screen – through touch gestures or voice control.
They recently updated a new software update (V9) that seems to be even more intuitive and user-friendly. https://www.tesla.com/support/software-v9
Pretty impressive.

Inspiration for Design Writing Research (DWR): Case Studies from IDEO
This week we were talking about our outline drafts and reflected our topics and thesis statements.
I think my topic will go in the direction Human/User-Centered Design at the intersection of emerging technologies and design. Possible statements:
“Human-centered design offers a framework to creative user experiences regarding emerging technologies.”
or
