it has been two weeks since i started my vet. med. studies, and i am so happy and proud that i was brave enough to change fields despite being in physics for so long 🥹 i’m enjoying it sooo much and it just feels a different kind of “right”.
as we’re kinda still moving in, it might take a little while before i have any aesthetic studying content for yall, but here is a picture of the gorgeous old building at my new uni <3

ten years ago you were so scared of such different things, but you survived them anyway. the same goes for five years ago and two years ago. everything that has ever felt like a hurdle, you’ve passed through. so be afraid, identify your fears, and then allow yourself to remember that in just a little while, this will be another thing that you have overcome.

honestly, i wish when i was a kid adults had said to me "lying is a thing most people do quite a bit of in social situations, its going to be useful to know how and when to do it, because if you dont you will often seem rude and offputting" instead of just "its bad to lie dont lie" because. guess who often seems rude and offputting.

Hi guys, i have some.. news?
I think i quite simply fell out of love with physics. It's kinda sad, but I think i've come to terms with it by now. I started my masters this year, but it just felt wrong, and all work i was doing felt like torture. Also, as working life came closer, I can't imagine myself enjoying a job where I'm sat at a desk all day, which is most likely what i would do if i got a job as a physicist. Anyways, i quite physics. I still care for the subject, but I just don't think life as a physicist is for me.
I've done some thinking on what route i should go down instead. I've always wanted to work with animals, and I'm a nerd - so the plan now is to move across the country and study veterinary medicine. Luckily, my grades from high school were very very good, so I'm kinda secured a place in the vetmed program, as we apply only by grades. It's scary to start "all over" again at uni, but honestly it just really feels right. With physics i always avoided thinking about the future because i knew i probably wouldn't enjoy the kind of jobs i could get, so i think this is probably for the best.
I can't start until summer, but i'll probably study some bio until then, as i had very little bio in high school, and its been a looong time. So I would like to be prepared. I will of course still use this account, but I guess it is no longer a physicsblr
It is very unlikely that anyone actually reads this, but i just have to put it out there <3

How is graduate school the same and different from undergrad?
In denmark where i live, it is pretty much the exact same thing, just with more difficult courses! in denmark we’re actually secured a spot in the masters programme at the same uni we got our bachelors from, so it’s very unusual to only get a bachelors degree here! But i only started my masters today, so i guess there could be differences i have not noticed yet, but so far it just feels like a continuation of the bachelor

today was the first day of the semester, and we started out with 6 hours of lectures straight 🙃 now doing some readings for my particle physics II lecture tomorrow - can confirm that hot chocolate definitely helps with the motivation

it has been a while.. i always tend to be active at the beginning of the semester and then just go awol. oops
anyways, finished by bachelor degree with pretty good grades overall, and now i'm starting my master degree in two days. honestly i've been feeling quite anxious over the summer, and now as we're approaching the start of the semester i'm really trying to create a peaceful environment for myself.
also, i've gotten really into reading again, i barely read at all last semester because everything just felt.. weird. but i'm back!!!
i'll try to post a couple times a week, and hopefully get out of the rut i've been in for the last couple of months :>

Hi, Tumblr —
My courses for this semester started yesterday!
I spent the morning going over syllabi and preparing my calendar for the remainder of August. In the afternoon, I completed all of my introductory assignments.
I’ll be posting my study diaries again starting tonight. I’m very excited for the classes I’m taking this half, and the research I’ll be doing.
!!!

we got our first snow day of the winter today! taking a day to catch up on work at home while being as cozy as possible was a well needed break from the busyness of in person classes and commitments :-)
listening to: spotify cozy christmas jazz playlist (my beloved)
