A Men’s Spread Collar Shirt Says So much More By Frankred

Over the past few months, thousands of students from around the country have graduated from college, accomplishing a goal that is not only a big individual goal, but an accomplishment, that they can share with their family members as well. In some cases these men, and women can take a break, and take some time to map out their futures. However, as college degrees have become more and more expensive to obtain, many students have completed several internships by the time the graduate, and are on the cusp of picking among the job offers that they have received, which is truly a blessing, because it doesn’t work out this way for everybody. My experience was similar to what I think most young people are experiencing today, which is, preparing to pay back the enormous loans that they have accumulated, to pay for the college degree that they are presumably proud of. I remember having three interviews with fortune 500 companies after I graduated, and not having any idea what I would wear to the interviews because as a large young male, I didn’t have much interest in shopping for clothes. Luckily, I had a wonderful auntie named Edna, and she took me shopping in Manhattan to purchase my first suit and a few dress shirts. I remember her saying, “I’m the buying the clothes, so I get to pick them out” to me it wasn’t much of an ask, so I quickly agreed to her request. My aunt Edna was a classy woman who always kept up with fashion, so I knew I was in good hands. She picked out a beautiful navy blue suit for me, and two shirts, a white, and a light blue that she specified must be spread collar. Honestly, I didn’t know what a spread collar shirt was, but over the years, I would become very familiar with this style of the dress shirt. Without spoiling the ending, I believe that I partly was hired for my first job, because of the spread collar shirt that I wore on the day, that I was interviewed six times by six different people for the same job. I never forgot that experience, and what I learned was, I probably got hired, because I was very prepared for the job opportunity, and maybe someone believed in me. Nevertheless, I know wearing a great suit and dress shirt made me feel comfortable, lowered my stress level to the extent, that I believe I was able to project a sense of confidence, and professionalism to my future employer. There’s A Story Behind Frankred’s Button Down Shirts

As the first person in my family to attend college, I felt a great deal of responsibility to represent myself, and my family, as best I could. At times this caused me to experience some anxiety about the new environment that I was in which was much different than the one that I grew up in. I knew that the best way to get off to a good start in college was to do well in school, so I studied hard, and I took advantage of all of the resources that the University offered me. Also, because I participated in sports, I had even more resources to utilize when I needed them. Nevertheless, there were times in which I felt awkward in my space, and I needed to find a way to field comfortable in my own skin. When I looked at other college students, I noticed how they acted, and I became aware of how they dressed. One of the signature pieces of clothing that many of the males were wearing was a button down collared shirt. I had never been too concerned about how I dressed in high school, so I had never noticed a button down shirt before, but I liked how it visually looked when I observed people wearing them. Therefore, I decided to buy one for myself, so I went to local men’s clothing store to buy a button down collard shirt, and by the time I left the store I was very disappointed, because I had an impossible time finding shirts that comfortably fit my 18 size neck. I was able to find a size 171/2, which would do fine as long didn’t try to button the top button. Nevertheless, I felt good wearing my classic blue cotton button down shirt. As my knowledge of fashion improved, I was able to find stores that carried size 18, but it wasn’t uncommon for me to only find 2 or 3 colors to choose from in my size, but had I been a smaller size I would have had many more colors to choose from. When I started the Frankred brand over ten years ago, those experiences didn’t escape me, and I was determined to make sure that I offered many large sizes and a wide color selection of button down shirts for my customers, so they wouldn’t have to experience what I did early in my life.
