Grog having the trust in Wilhand to even say “Pop Pop I fucked up” is truly incredible. Given the direct contrast we see between the herd and his chosen family I can’t imagine it came naturally. Do you think Kevdak would have responded to that kind of admission with anything less than a beating?

Even with Grog’s incredible capacity for kindness and empathy, it had to have taken time for him to get to a place where he felt safe enough to let that show. Look at how much Grog’s herd still scares him all this time later and think about just how much it must have taken to move past that. Sure the Trickfoots saved his life but trust must have been hard and vulnerability a completely foreign concept.

The fact that Grog can be so open and so loving and so very kind is nothing short of a miracle. Even if we move past the fact that he should have died a Kevdek’s hand long ago, that he should never have had this life, being able to be the man he is now is a miracle of its own. It’s a testament to Grog’s character and heart that he is who he is. He’s never had the chance to take the easy way and he can’t start now.
