The Glitchy Retro GIFs of Kotutohum
Batuhan Perker is a self taught GIF artist living in Istanbul, Turkey. He works under the pseudonym, Kotutohum which means “bad seed” in Turkish. He’s been creating GIFs & digital art for the past 5 years & so far, has worked with French synthpop DJ, Kavinsky & CAPCOM. Also, he’s been publishing an underground fanzine with his friends since 2012, called DOKTRIN.
“I’ve created my own methods & style over time. I begin with a concept & create new images or pick images randomly from my pool of visual content, sometimes I get inspired by a song, story or image. Mostly, I use the aesthetics & imagery of 90s video games & retro references in my work.”
