You’re a daycare worker, watching over toddlers, when the imminent end of the world is announced. It becomes increasingly clear none of the kids’ parents are going to show up as the end inches nearer.

Stuff kids on tumblr better relearn
1. You are responsible for your own media experience.
2. There is such a thing as a healthy level of avoidance towards topics that make you feel unwell or even (in a real-life clinical definition of the term) trigger you - but you are the one to actively take care of what you view.
3. Avoiding does not mean policing others.
4. You have no right to tell artists to censor themselves - you may criticize what others do, you may dislike it, that’s fine - but actively asking for censorship when you could easily unfollow or block a person just makes you look incompetent in your use of the internet.
5. Do not give people on tumblr or /any/ website the responsibility for your emotional well-being. Because these people do not even know you so no, you have no right to ask them to take care of you.

Writing about a child rapist did not make Vladimir Nabokov a child rapist.
Writing about an authoritarian theocracy did not make Margaret Atwood an authoritarian theocrat.
Writing about adultery did not make Leo Tolstoy an adulterer.
Writing about a ghost did not make Toni Morrison a ghost.
Writing about a murderer did not make Fyodor Dostoevsky a murderer.
Writing about a teenage addict did not make Isabel Allende a teenage addict.
Writing about dragons and ice zombies did not make George R.R. Martin either of those things.
Writing about rich heiresses, socially awkward bachelors, and cougar widows did not make Jane Austen any of those things.
Writing about people who can control earthquakes did not make N.K. Jemisin able to control earthquakes.
Writing about your favorite characters and/or ships in situations that you choose does not make you a bad person.
It’s a shame that in this day and age these things need to be said.

Idk, if y’all can’t even have imaginary, theoretical compassion for fake survivors who are almost completely at your discretion to turn them into a pure good survivor who never relapses into survival mode, then I doubt you have any capacity to muster up real compassion for real survivors who will certainly disappoint and upset and infuriate you.

As much as I dislike antis, I'm very confused by the claim that they would target queer people and women disproportionately. To my knowledge, the vast majority of shippers are queer people and women. There are plenty of antis in the fandom spaces I frequent, but I can count the number of cishet men I've encountered (that I know of) on one hand. Of course queer people and women are going to be the primary targets if they make up almost the entire demographic. No?
--
It's hard to pick apart how much is the demographics of the space and how much is intentional.
Basically, antis make grandiose claims about being activists for better media, yet spend all their time bothering vulnerable targets close to home. The more marginalized the group, the more antis hold members and representations of characters to a higher standard.
TBH, we don't know if most shippers are queer. We know the majority of fic fandom is female and that AO3 is heavily queer. We don't know how much more or less queer FFN and Wattpad are.

COVID is slowly becoming a “third world” disease. While first world countries are hoarding vaccines, having doses for populations many times their size, third world countries can’t get any because pharma companies want to sell to the first world countries first. Even then, first world countries will receive them first. While rich countries recover from COVID, they will forget about the pandemic while many other countries live the absolute worst moment of the pandemic without being able to vaccinate their population.

yellow is generally the population’s least favourite colour which is interesting to me. i have a theory that yellow is generally more appealing to people the Less saturated and deep it is, the more warm and less cool it is, and that faded pale yellow is more pleasing to the eye than mustard. can you all participate in a casual experiment and tag or reply with which shade you like best from this yellow shade chart. i’m hypothesising daffodil will be popular as an answer

literary analysis is dead becuz u legit get people like "this character is a bad character because they made a decision or a mistake that resulted in a problem that must be repaired within the narrative" like yes Jennifer that's called conflict and its integral to every story that exists ever.
