Every once in a while in this business you are put to the test. And honestly, since I entered this business in 2001 I feel like that happens about every three months. In the early part of my career, I became a yes man. This gave me the opportunity to work on every deal whether it was crappy or not -- more often than not, being relatively crappy. Over time, this has given me the ability to think strategically in selling unique property.

This Friday we sold what I can only describe as the castle of Orange County!

What I have learned is that unique properties require a buyer with a unique wish list.  In order to sell these types of homes, you have to be able to tell the appropriate story to these unique people. You can have a lot of people interested, but only one will buy.

It’s funny because sometimes it takes a while -- but the end looks almost exactly like the beginning. What I mean by that is the exact buyer you have in mind, the one you’ve been looking to attract no matter how long it takes, is almost exactly who will end up buying the property in the end. And that was most certainly the case here.

Ahhhhh Christmas!! A time when all the family gets together to enjoy each other's company, eat, cook, drink and be merry. Have you ever noticed that when you grow up you end up splitting holidays and traveling a lot more than you thought you would? And no matter what you do -- you are never able see everyone on the actual holiday?

Most of my family has moved away which has made it harder to have a big family Christmas all in one spot -- especially since each person has their own obligations and families that they also have to visit.

With work and the company being so crazy, it’s hard for me to step away as much as I would like to have that free time with my brothers, parents and all of our family members. This year I made it a point that I was going see my entire family for the holidays -- even if it wasn’t on the same day. Since we will be traveling to Wyoming for the holiday, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to see my mom. So, even though it was hard to coordinate with work before Christmas, I made a quick one day trip to visit her for the holidays. She was so excited -- it warmed my heart to death. It was great to be able to have that one on one time with her. I’m not sure if you’re anything like me but I hate the idea of any of my family or friends being alone on the holidays. I think it is so important to feel that people are out there thinking about you and caring about you during this time of year.
