— SAM.
Sam was about ready to give up. Artie’s little tune brought him back to the here and now, head turning slightly. Brows pulled together, having not heard a single word of what he’d said just moments prior. A hand pushed through blond locks and he sat up a little straighter, exhaling a heavy breath. He really wasn’t good at maths, though that was the whole reason behind Artie helping him - Artie was smart, a genius, someone that Sam looked up to with an immense amount of admiration. The suggestion of a break made him smile, lips stretching out far wider across his face. “Break sounds amazing. What d’you wanna do?”

"Video games, dog!" He bobbed his head, backing out and swerving so that he was facing the relatively large television screen that sat against one side of his room. If there was anything Artie had, it was impressive technology. "Mario Kart?" Of course, Artie had a collection of video games as far and wide as the eye could see, but he thought something lighthearted and mildly competitive would be a nice break from Algebra.

— for @heartsofvalor.
Artie set down his pencil, pausing to brush aside his bangs. He and Sam had been working on math for the better part of an hour. "Just remember the jingle we wrote about it. Negative B plus or minus the square root of B squared minus four A C over two A." Okay, maybe just singing the quadratic formula wasn't going to make it stick, but there wasn't a whole lot one could do to remember it. Instead of picking up his pencil again, Artie clutched the wheels of his chair and backed away from the desk just a couple of inches. "Let's take a break," he decided, even a little mathed-out himself.
