On the southern coast of England lies the great port city, Highcliffe. It is thriving with life. Strange travellers from far off lands arrive in the city in great hoards. It is also home to the largest population of witches and wizards in all of England, Scotland and Wales. The king has recently established an order of Witch Hunters, a group dedicated to eradicating magic. They have travelled the lands, leaving a trail of charred corpses in their wake. Now, they have arrived at Highcliffe, sparking fear into the hearts of the witches and wizards that reside there. In the midst of this, four seemingly ordinary men and women will meet. Together they will embark on an adventure that will lead them to an extraordinary fate.A Harry Potter Founders Era Roleplay

Rowena Ravenclaw | 18 | Noblewoman | Witch (Pureblood) | FC: Bridget Regan
Only child of Lord Malleck and Lady Karina Ravenclaw.
Mother of Helena Ravenclaw.
Currently being encouraged to meet suitors for marriage.
Rowena grew up very privileged. Being an only child, she has always been close with her father and mother. Lord Malleck Ravenclaw, a nobleman who recognised the importance of education made it his life goal to teach his only child everything he knew. Ravenclaw was a student of history, mathematics, literature, geography, combat, and magic. She was bright, strong, and everything that her parents hoped she would be, often described as perfect.
At the age of seventeen, Rowena’s life changed forever. As she began to become aware of men and the feelings that came along with them, she also discovered how cruel they could be. One day, she burst through the doors of Ravenclaw manor, screaming with tears running down her face. She had been attacked and raped on her way home from the city stables. Her parent’s begged and pleaded with her to tell them who was responsible for such a crime, but she would not tell them who the man was, though his face haunted her mind daily. In an attempt to move forward, they decided to put the past behind them and act as though it had never happened. That proved to be impossible, however, when Rowena discovered that she was with child.
Rowena was allowed to keep the child, however she and her parent’s attempted to keep it a secret the best they could. After Rowena began showing in her pregnancy, she was kept in confinement, forbidden from leaving the grounds of Ravenclaw manor until after the baby was born. When she eventually gave birth to a girl, Rowena decided on the name Helena, after her paternal grandmother.
A year has now past since the birth of her baby girl and Malleck and Karina are determined to find a suitable husband for their daughter, much to her dismay. It isn't that she doesn’t want a husband. She simply doesn’t think she’ll find one who will respect her with such a stain on her name. Right now, she is simply trying to be a wonderful mother to her little girl. She once had many friends, but since the scandal, she finds true friendship few and far between. Her best friend is Helga Hufflepuff, whom she met upon the girl's arrival to the city.

Charlotte Peverell | 29 | Noblewoman | Witch (Pure Blood) | FC: Hayley Atwell
Eldest child and only daughter of Lord Thomas Peverell.
Unmarried, Charlotte refuses all suitors that she is presented with.
Charlotte is the eldest child in the powerful and prestigious Peverell family. Growing up, she was the apple of her father’s eye and the only family member not subjected to his physical abuse. Lord Peverell doted on her. Growing up, she and her father were close, however as soon as she discovered how poorly he treated not just his subjects but her siblings and her mother as well, she began to pull away from him Over time, she began to loathe him just as much as the rest of her household.
At the age of fourteen, her father found her a suitor by the name of Gregory Alaric. The young lord was rich, powerful, and incredibly handsome. Right away, Charlotte was smitten. However, shortly after their engagement, Gregory began showing his true colors as a dirty, no-good, philanderer who treated his subjects nearly as poorly as her father. Charlotte’s feelings for the man evaporated and she no longer had any desire to marry him. Luckily for her, Gregory was caught in the bed of another woman and her father immediately broke the engagement.
After the debacle with Gregory Alaric, her father continued to present suitor after suitor to Charlotte in hopes that she would soon be wed. However, each suitor was even more crude than the last. Every single one of them reminded her of her father and Charlotte would be damned before she left one terrible household just to enter another. So, Charlotte began finding ways to break off any possible engagements either by outright refusing the man’s hand or by finding excuses not to marry him, some of them true, but many of them lies. Over the years, her father eventually gave up on his daughter, only bringing her the most desperate of suitors, to which Charlotte always refused.
As she grew older, Charlotte became more and more cold, apathetic, and manipulative. The girl is rarely seen out of her chambers and when she is, she is almost always seen wearing the most inscrutable expression. Not many can truly say they know the real Charlotte Peverell. Her mask has gotten so well-worn that even Charlotte doesn’t know her real self any more.

Tariq al-Ajam | 26 | Performer under the service of the Peverell family | Wizard (Blood Status Unknown) | FC: Elyes Gabel
Formerly a member of a travelling band of performers, alongside Genevieve la Gras.
Right-hand man of Tristan Peverell.
Employed by the Peverells to entertain the family and their guests at feasts and banquets.
Tariq Al-Ajam, the foreigner. It’s a name Tariq acquired at the age of fourteen when he left the city in which he was born and raised, never to look back. No one but Tariq knows where his story began or the circumstances of his departure and Tariq likes to keep it that way. There are some who fancy him a prince of the Arab world, chased from his lands in some kind of feud. There are others who believe he is a hunted criminal. Tariq’s strong build and handsome features, coupled with his charm, mean he is both admired and held in contempt in equal measure. However, one thing remains constant. Ever since he turned his back on his home, Tariq has been regarded as an outsider. But he has adapted to life on the road and quickly learned he enjoyed being the elusive Tariq al-Ajam. No one knows of his past, which means only he gets to decide his future.
For almost a decade, Tariq travelled from city to city. At first, he survived by picking the pockets of wealthier men. However, after some time on the streets, he was recruited by a band of entertainers – actors, jugglers, men who ate blades for show, walked on stilts, conversed with snakes and, in Tariq’s case, magicians. After seeing what he could do, they accepted Tariq into their family and if ever they suspected him of practising sorcery they turned a blind eye to it. He was welcome amongst their numbers on the condition that he earned his keep. It was with this new family that he travelled west. As Tariq grew older, he became one of the group’s star performers. Not only does he have a knack for charming the crowd, but his performances are often more elaborate than what muggles are accustomed to. He can conjure objects out of thin air and, at his most reckless, he shapes fire into great beasts that do his bidding. Tariq has come under suspicion of witchcraft once or twice in the past, but the band of entertainers never stays in one place long enough for him to be a risk.
Tariq was twenty-three when they travelled across the waters to England, arriving at the docks of Highcliffe. The city served them well, however after only three weeks, the band grew restless and decided to head north towards London. Except on this occasion Tariq was no longer welcome. Word quickly reached them of the King’s intolerance of magic. Tariq was somewhat embittered when he woke after several hours of being unconscious to find they had packed up their caravans and left the city. However, ever one to adapt to the situation, Tariq took his talents to the streets. It was there that he was spotted by Tristan Peverell, the first-born son and heir of his house. Lord Tristan hired him to entertain at the tenth anniversary of his son’s birth. He has been in Lord Tristan’s service ever since. Tariq is Tristan’s right hand man and is often entrusted with tasks of far greater importance than the entertainment of the Peverell family and their guests.

Juliana Thatcher née Kingsley | 22 | Servant at the Citadel | Muggle | FC: Angel Coulby
Illegitimate daughter of William Kingsley and a slave of the house.
Maid servant to Charlotte Peverell.
Widowed wife of Thomas Thatcher.
In the middle of one of the hottest summers to ever strike Highcliffe, a baby girl was born to a foreign slave of the house Kingsley. The baby was healthy and much loved by her mother, until it was discovered that the strain of labor had been too much, and she had died in the night after the baby’s birth. It was then soon revealed that William Kingsley had bedded the child’s mother and the baby belonged to him. He brought her into his home and named her Juliana.
Growing up as an outcast was difficult for Juliana, but she was treated kindly by the only mother she’d ever known. Beatrice Kingsley took Juliana into her arms the moment William confessed his sin. She still hasn’t forgiven him, but her kind heart wouldn’t allow her to take her anger out on the child. Juliana is the middle child of three. Of her older half-brother Braxton and her younger half-sister Emma, neither see her as a true member of their family. When Juliana was just sixteen, Beatrice passed away, leaving her to the wrath of her siblings and father. As time went on, what used to be affection from her father was merely duty as she became a maid in her own home.
After her father passed away when she was eighteen, it was the job of her brother to marry her off. He sold her to the first man who asked, and used the money to move himself and Emma away from their home. Thomas Thatcher was a kind man, 38 years old, and took care of Juliana like she’d never known. Her family had been of a little wealthy standing for commonfolk, but Thomas was only a blacksmith, and had less money than the Kingsley’s… but he was also a wizard. Juliana didn’t mind, however. She would rather live poor and in secret with a husband who loved her than with her own flesh and blood who sold her. They lived comfortably, Thomas as a blacksmith and Juliana in Peverell castle as the eldest daughter Charlotte Peverell’s maid servant.
Misfortune struck when Juliana was just shy of turning 22. Thomas became deathly ill of a fever and passed away, leaving her alone in their small cottage. It wasn’t too long after his death that she discovered she was pregnant. Now she is trying to hide her pregnancy, and keep her job in the castle, afraid of what will happen after the child is born. Not only is she alone, but she worries daily that her child will be born with the same magical quality that her husband had.

Right, so this is the main blog. There are two other pages built into it. They are:
The inspiration page.
The OOC.
The OOC will act as a second dash. Once this RPG opens, please keep all posts on the main dash IC, in character. OOC posts are to be posted on the OOC blog. I will now add you all to the OOC.
The Inspiration blog is run by all of us. I'll add you all as members there as well. Add to it at your pleasure. Also, if anyone wants to change the theme, feel free to do so.
Lastly, who would like to be listed as an admin? I believe I've sent you all a message with the login details, but if you need another one just let me know. We should probably all have names, in which case, would it be easiest if we used our real names? For example, I'd be Admin Elva.
