Day 4&5 The Surgical Team Arrives in Juliaca
We received a very warm welcome from the Clinica Americana team when we arrived in Juliaca. A group of Clinica Americana Juliaca nurses greeted us at the airport, and gave us a tour of the hospital and operating rooms. Once the supplies were unloaded, the team had lunch with administration and our medical students, Melissa and Roger, who are also helping with our post-op orders and translating.
Monday, our OR started after a short church service at Clinica Americana Juliaca, where the hospital introduced the team to the hospital staff. Our patients and their families were very eager to receive care from our team, and everyone has been so gracious for this gift of surgery our team has been able to provide. Using our work to spread God’s love is one of the greatest gifts! ❤️

DAY 2 - Juliaca Team explores Cusco
The surgical team spent the second day in Peru exploring the city of Cusco, Peru. Cusco is known as being the “navel” or center, of the Inca civilization.
Our first stop on the tour with Francisco was Saxay Woman, an Inca temple built in the 15th century. It took 150,000 people to build over 100 years.
After, the team went to the church of Santo Domingo, known by the Incas as Korikancha. The last stop was the Plaza de Armas, where the team had their first team dinner in Peru!

Time to go. Today the team says goodbye to each other as we head off in several different directions. The medical students go back to Lima, others go to Machu Picchu and four of us to Lake Titicaca.
We're a little tired but feeling very fulfilled. We have made some great new friends and touched the lives of almost 2000 people.

A small town about two and a half hours from Pucallpa. City leaders, through connections with the local Adventist community, invited our group to come and help them.
