Congratulations to Angkhana Neelapaijit on receiving the Ramon Magsaysay Award! Angkhana is a well-respected human rights defender and former Commissioner with the National Human Rights Commission of #Thailand. She has long worked to end impunity and enforced disappearances in Thailand. Angkhana became particularly engaged in defending human rights after her husband--Somchai Neelapaijit, a Thai Muslim human rights lawyer--disappeared on March 12, 2004. She campaigned for the authorities to investigate her husband’s disappearance and bring perpetrators to justice, raising awareness about enforced disappearances and other serious human rights violations including torture, killings, and arbitrary detention in the deep south of Thailand. #Rights4All https://ift.tt/2N8Ilas
