Are sharks just smooth one way and rough (like tear our skin bloody) the other way? (Cause I've felt sharks and rays at touch tanks at aquariums, but always in the same direction on sharks, and they always felt smooth.) (Asking because I'm confused because of what I've felt, but also knowing how sharks' skin works it would make sense for it to be rough.)

it’s smooth one way and rough the other way because the denticles all point in one direction! some human cultures have even used shark skin as sandpaper.
