so how are you and your sister doing, hm? must have been an awkward conversation after our little family reunion. what a little cutthroat she is, in the journalism business i mean. you know i've been trying to reach her, left a couple of messages. will you tell her to call dear ol' dad next time you see her? i feel as though i haven't bonded with my youngest enough!

again with the casualties. anything to get malcolm’s straying mind away from the fact that stood before him was a serial killer, he supposed. “she’s probably too busy, dr. whitly.” he opens — but a part of him deep inside was glad she wasn’t taking martin’s calls, for absolutely whatever reason. hell, it wasn’t just a part; every inch of him felt the need to protect his little sister from the surgeon, and the fact she wasn’t picking up the phone for him satisfied malcolm greatly.

if only he held that same protective behaviour towards himself.

“maybe that impression you made on her left a mark. you’re good at that.” scarring people. it was a dangerous slope, getting hostile with martin. even if just slightly. but for a brief moment, his need to protect ainsley trumped that. “that last meeting? it was enough. don’t worry.” enough to hopefully turn ainsley off from martin forever, that is. malcolm wasn’t about to hide the fact he wanted to protect his only sibling.
