No, I haven't died...

I’ve been operating off my hotspot for the last year in order to conserve money, but it really hates loading anything graphics heavy. Essentially I haven’t the time or patience to update my tumblr. It sucks, but my priorities in life are a bit different now then a few years ago.

What brought me here this morning was I really want to share that I’m working on a novel length story about Damar. I’m only through the first three chapters and of course there will likely be revisions and all that fun stuff. I hope to make it as good quality as my moderate talent will allow. I am really excited about the ideas I have for it though and am looking forward to posting soon.

Anyone else mildly amused that every time Rusot tried to play some version of the “bros before hos” card, he got shut down?

Kira:  *convinces Damar to go along with her plan*

Rusot:  Damar...?!

Damar:  *glares*  Not another word, Rusot!

“You’re still a Cardassian, Garak.  You’re not going to kill one of your own people for a Bajoran woman!”

Garak:  How little you understand me...

Moments later, Damar shoots him and gives Kira this look like “I killed my best friend for you.”

I can see this.  I’d be in so much trouble on Cardassia myself what with my sarcasm and all.

We can’t honestly blame Dukat for thinking Kira wants him. She constantly flirts with him in a Cardassian way.

I kind of see her as Star Trek’s version of Cinderella in terms of her personality.  Rough life but she always tried to keep her chin up and remain kind.

I think part of what bugs me with Ziyal’s character, is her naivety. She’s played like a kid and sure, in some ways she is.

But the writers completely ignored that she spent a big part of her life in a prison camp, being forced to hard labor after watching her mother die. It would actually be a lot more believable if she was more distrusting and grown-up in her manners. Because in reality, she didn’t have anyone growing up and had to survive anyway. 

For me, it seems like a lost opportunity. Ziyal and Kira’s friendship could have been based on them both having similar upbringings, Ziyal being a prisoner of the Breen and Kira being oppressed by the Cardassians.

The writers really didn’t seem to know how to use Ziyal’s character other than to create tension between Kira and Dukat, or tension between Dukat and Garak.
