Updated Digital world History:

Before the Mother(Dolores): During the time before Dolores took her title as mother, there was Adhelm. Adhelm was keen with keeping gods in power while his predecessor known as Dolores had differing opinions. When digimon were born Dolores questioned why they can't have a voice to them. Adhelm silenced her with this "childish" ideal. However when she ascended to become the next god she chose to have the mons work with her, to give them the chance to chose their own fates. With the knights she worked to bring fruition to the world.  It is said that a virus was introduced to the world after the ascension. The knights and the mother fought it off. However the mother had to absorb a majority to protect her children and future generation, storing it deep in the roots of the tree. As it corrupted her another figure formed that encased her to siphon off her power. During the final confrontation with the false goddess, the royal knights and their children freed her, weakening the other in the process. However as punishment the knights were slaughtered by the vines. The original knights were  thrown into the void of the roots where the virus was. This forced their bodies to change to become powerful running on the virus and loyal to the new god. They now hunt Dolores to help their new god gain the power back in exchange to protect their children and lovers.

Were there instances where any of the Knights go out doing stuff in different forms? Example Andrew in his Dorugamon form or Sebastian in his Veedramon form.

“Yes there were plenty of times where we reverted to our lower forms. I still remember the one time Angel had to revert to her other Lucemon form like Maze did. The amount of mons thinking they were related, it is ironic.”

Lachlan jumped then turned as his wings flapped. When he saw Vemprymon he smiled.
