Kris Humphries and Lamar Odom square off in the year’s most epic jump ball. Moments like this are why the NBA will never adopt the possession arrow.

Didn't know much about Jerry Buss until seeing his HOF speech in person. His contribution to the golden age of the NBA can't be overstated.
Magic and Bird would not have shined as bright without his vision.

On MJ's 50th
After Jordan's HOF speech in 2009, the masses of sports writers tried to capture the moment ... much like what has come with his 50th Birthday right now.
I read many of the pieces then and now on both milestones.  To-date, though, it's Jon Greenberg's piece from ESPN Chicago that gets closest to demystifying Jordan's legacy for me.
Michael Jordan the Chicago Bulls guard was invincible. Michael Jordan the Man is vulnerable, complicated and ultimately human.
I miss Jordan the Hero. I don't really want to know Jordan the Man.

Michael didn't pick Kobe over LeBron ... he recognizes them both.
Judge for yourself … is Michael really saying he picks Kobe over LeBron? Or is it a tough choice for him and then he just points out differences between them?
Really distraught with the NBA media (ESPN specifically) for blowing this up into something it wasn't.  If I'm Michael, I wouldn't talk to the media much at all … as to me, they look to exploit him at any opportunity they get.  How so?
ESPN says Michael picks Kobe over LeBron.  I get an immediate alert when they say he does.  I go to espn.com, their mobile app, tune in to SportsCenter for more.  They get more page views, mobile stats, tv ratings, etc which equals more advertisement dollars … all from taking Michael's comments and sensationalizing them.  I really wish they didn't do this.
I guess this partly explains why Michael limits his media exposure … I don't blame him.

Have to agree with this one. Career-to-date, Kobe has done more than LeBron.

(Taylor) must have been wearing the Mambas, man. Only Mambas have no conscience to shoot the ball that much,” Kobe Bryant said.

Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks were amazed by Taylor's feat when they heard about it after their victory in New Orleans. "I never heard of nothing like that. That's like a video game," Anthony said, an incredulous look on his face. "How can you shoot 100 times, though?" He joked that from now on when someone asks if he's taking too many shots, he'll mention "that someone shot it 108 times."

How much of this are we going to hear this year? Let me make my stance clear… LBJ is great and has the potential, but he is tremendously far from surpassing, even equaling, MJ’s greatness.
But I’ll be watching for sure.
