New Scaremester Catrine DeMew
I wanted to get a Catrine for a while, but I couldn’t get ahold of her basic doll which came out with the Scaris assortment. I have a weakness for snow-white animals and here was one as an anthro girl, so...I bought her.
She has a very lovely, well defined face with various shades of purple, lilac, lavender, etc. I like that her eyebrows match her hair.
The new profile art is by Lauren Montgomery I believe, and I think it’s a great upgrade to Monster High.
The back of the box has the full art and her profile information.
She’s very liberal with her Frenglish.
She comes with great accessories:
There’s lavender spiderweb filigree shoes and a purse that opens!
Plus we have what you think is an iCoffin...
...but it’s actually a case for her pastels!
She can hold all four colors on her finger like this.
Here’s the doll out of the box in full:
She has a wooly bolero jacket over a striped dress (one-piece), along with shoes, bracelets, and a kerchief.
Her face really steals the show, and she has these vibrant streaks of color in her hair.
She has a gently sloping profile which retains her feline qualities.
Her tail stays nicely in place and hasn’t wobbled or fallen out without my wanting it to. Plus there’s a plastic skullette bow on it!
With the jacket off you can better see her dress. it has thin ribbon straps holding it up.
I’ve noticed, as have others, that Catrine’s arms are a little stiffer than other Monster High dolls. That might be a drawback to some, but I personally like it because if I pose her, she keeps that pose exactly. No floating.
More filigree on the skirt ruffle.
The nude doll is in every other respect a standard monster high body - there’s no special moldings or markings.
My doll had some fuzz sticking to her when I peeled off the jacket, but it wiped away cleanly. Also, there is some slight variation in the plastic color between the arms, legs, and torso.
Clean as a whistle:
I know a few more Catrines have come out since this one, but she’s definitely a solid pick if you want one of your own. If you have artistic leanings, you might appreciate this doll. She’s chic, artistic, and very purple.
Thanks for reading!

Dance Class Gil
I thought I’d do this one first to kind of test it out.
This is the Monster High Gil doll from the Dance Class 5-pack. He was a Target exclusive.
He came with his helmet on, which of course made it harder to photograph.
He’s wearing grey-brown shorts and a tank top with a vague wave/bubble pattern on it.
Unlike Lagoona, he doesn’t have anything in the way of ears. His fin mohawk is a piece of semi-pliable plastic, but don’t think you’ll be able to style it.
He photographs well, and seems less timid than his webisode counterpart.
If you’re thinking of getting a Gil of your own, I bet you’d like this one!

Hi there! I’ve been collecting dolls and other toys and stuff for a few years, and I thought it would be fun to do reviews of new things and see if any older stuff turns up. Hope it’s fun!
