New painting photo dump! Well, the photos are new, the paintings are not. I did most of these about two years ago. If anyone is curious, one of my big inspirations is an artist by the name of Olayami Dabls. He's an artist famous for the Dabls Mbad African Bead Museum. A lot of his artwork uses bright colors and mixed materials. He creates art as a form of cultural healing, which is something that I can really relate to. I sometimes have a hard time putting my feelings into words and I use my art as a way of communicating pain and healing from it; whether it's from personal trauma of my life or the societal trauma of being trans. I try to use symbols that are universal so that no matter who you are, you can take something away from it. I wanted to bring up one of my inspirations because I'm proud of these pieces, but I'm also thankful for this style of expression that I've learned from artists like Dabls. If you're looking at this and you've never heard about him, I'd recommend checking him out.
Hiya I haven't posted in a minute, but I have a new painting that I'm working on getting rid of. It works in a way that you can have the painting facing 4 different ways and focus on something different and therefore, see a different picture and have a story. I don't like to talk too much about what my painting's inspirations are, but I love asking folks what they see. This is my favorite one to do this with because they all notice something different depending on how they turn the picture.
This is a portrait I did of my mom for mother’s day. It’s all acrylic, but the glasses, which are made out of plastic I cut off the bottom of some container.
I love ducks so much! I just feel like they have the derpiest faces
Duck Appreciation Post!
@moreclaypigeons sent me these photos of this charming pair of Mallards! I love how distinct the facial markings are on the female.
[Video Description: Several large groups of snow geese flying in V formations are seen flying in an overcast sky. There are trees and a light post visible in the foreground. The birds appear black as they are silhouetted against the light grey clouds. End video description]
I couldn’t resist adding some of my own photos and videos to this post. Please enjoy these pictures I took of ducks at my local bird sanctuary (it’s basically just a protected area of wetland, all of the birds are wild). If you look closely in the first picture, you may be able to identify the American Wigeons and Northern Shovelers in the background. I also live in the middle of the migratory flyway for a large group of Snow Geese, so I wanted to show you all what the sky over my house looks and sounds like when they are flying over!
This is my sweet, sweet boy, Draco Shirtsleeve. He is a reformed demon wants to be a butterfly when he grows up. He enjoys frolicking and jumping in the leaves. He also likes it when I scratch behind his ears
