the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

One of my fav suggestions about Why Ravenous (1999) Flopped is that it's just an absolutely unholy mishmash of European and US film sensibilities in the 90s. I think that this could also be why it's gaining traction currently... compared to the 90s, I think the modern filmgoer picks up on both threads without trouble. Like. It's arty! It's gory! It's a spaghetti western! It's a tragedy! It's homoerotic! It's a comedy! It's a political metaphor! Damon Albarn from Blur/Gorillaz fame co-wrote the soundtrack, which is bizarre in and of itself!
