Benjamin Afton

Our protagonist, his ninth birthday is only in a few days! Has a fear of animatronics, exacerbated by his brother Michael’s tormenting. Carries a Fredbear plush his mother made at all times. Tends to cry in response to most situations, but can be brave when he needs to be. Unfortunately, that won’t help him much.

Michael Afton

Benjamin’s older brother who has fallen in with a rougher crowd. Wears a Foxy mask he made from his brother’s destroyed plushies. Once very quiet, he has become teasing and downright cruel in his teen years. But from his father’s reaction, it seems that he has some justification…

Charlie Ortiz

Twin sister of Sammy. Interested in becoming a mechanic, and as such tends to cling to her father to learn from him. She and Michael used to be friends, but after his mother’s death he became very distant and began to hang out with his gang instead of her. Protective of her brother and Benjamin.

Sammy Ortiz

Twin brother of Charlie. He is much better with people than she is, and as such has more friends than her. Has begun to fill Michael’s role of supportive big brother to Benjamin. Very well known around the diner for being too curious for his own good.

William Afton

Benjamin and Michael’s father and co-founder of Fredbear’s Family Diner. A very jovial man focused on children’s entertainment. Recently became more withdrawn after his wife’s death, and tends to switch between punishing and ignoring Michael. Benjamin seems afraid of him as well.

Henry Ortiz

Sammy and Charlie’s adoptive father and co-founder of Fredbear’s Family Diner. Seems cold and distant but is simply difficult at expressing emotions in public. Is trying to reach out more to the Afton family after their loss, but has been rebuffed by William, and doesn’t wish to overstep that boundary. Is more worried about Michael that he lets on.

Steven Espinoza

The diner’s most loyal employee, having worked there for three years since he was seventeen. Very protective of the owner’s children, and tends to serve as both a babysitter and a security guard when he’s working. Worried about Benjamin and expresses that to William, but he doesn’t feel like the concern is being heard.

What games will be included in the rewrite?

Hi all, sorry for the radio silence. I am a college student, so while I will try my best to update this blog and continue work on the rewrite, I can’t guarantee it will always happen.

So, you may be asking, what games will I be rewriting? Besides the games I will list below, there will also be interims included between the games, as going from one game’s events to another without proper setup seems unintuitive to me.

The games that I will include in the rewrite are FNAF 1, FNAF 2, FNAF 3, FNAF 4, Pizzeria Simulator, and Help Wanted. The numbered entries will also be given their own subtitles to avoid confusion as to what is a sequel or prequel. I will not be including Sister Location, Special Delivery, or Security Breach in the rewrite, as I feel they’re too futuristic and not the direction I am looking to go in this reimagining. However, in their place, I will be including my own “personal” substitution: FNAF Break Out. Some characters from Security Breach and Special Delivery will make an appearance there, so stay tuned!

General Questions

These are questions that I am going to guess will be asked. And so, before they are asked, I will answer them here. This will be updated as time goes on.

What’s the purpose of this rewrite?

I have been a fan of FNAF since the first game. I adore so many parts of this game series, but I have always wished we got more in terms of characterization and emotion. This rewrite is my interpretation of the series through the lens of a character-focused writer. It’s my own spin on the lore, to say the least.

Will this rewrite be posted? If so, where can I find it?

At the moment, I don’t have enough planned to begin the full rewrite. However, when I eventually do, you can find it on this page.

I don’t like your interpretation of this character. Why did you do this?

This rewrite is not designed to please the masses. In the end, I am writing this for myself. I am simply sharing it so I can share my excitement and hopefully have some people enjoy it. It’s okay to not like what I write. If it annoys you, you can always ignore or block me.

Why does your art look like that?

To be completely honest, I am not a good artist. I often struggle with my art, and struggle even more in posting it. Due to this, I will only post my art for this rewrite every so often. I would appreciate it if comments like this were not made.

If something is retconned or changed, how will you indicate that?

In cases like these, I will state that the information has been retconned or changed on the old post as well as making a new post for the new information.

Let it be known that the way haunting works in this rewrite does NOT involves remnant. General gist of it is that if you die in or on Fazbear property they own a piece of your soul and you haunt the place. This is canon to the rewrite and I will not be changing the phrasing.

This blog is dedicated to me (your author Cris) and my interpretation of the FNAF series. This may not deviate from canon in some places, but it will mainly be a retelling of the events of Five Nights at Freddy’s.

This post will be updated with links to information on the characters, the timeline of events, and other information as the rewrite grows.
