jihoon’s preferred method of communication is usually text but he found himself knocking on the door to his friend’s dorm anyway, he wasn’t getting any replies back from achara so he thought a little walk to lucid’s dorms wouldn’t cost him anything.

he knew his way around gangnam, taking a few awkward streets to get there, a simple friendly visit wasn’t worth him getting found by sasaengs or dispatch and a story far from the truth being released in half an hour tops. once he reached their place he rapidly knocked on the door waiting eagerly to see his friend. however he was greeted by a more surprising face, ryu hyewon, an ex of his that didn’t end too well who just so happened to be in the same group as achara.

“oh hey hyewon, it’s been a while.” he said sheepishly, hopefully she wouldn’t slam the door in his face.

“hi,I just wanted to say good luck with your comeback later this month,” she spoke quietly, not particularly wanting to draw attention from anyone but jihoon. she smiled sunnily, though, trying to appear harmless if not friendly. “i’m alice and i’m in lucid, by the way. we’re dimensions’ new girl group. it’s nice to meet you.” it seemed better to over-introduce than to assume he was familiar. they were only rookies, after all.

being one of the more sunnier days, jihoon decided go out on a walk which turned into more of a shopping trip for nothing other than food. with the comeback almost on its way he’d done more dancing and singing in the past month than he did during tempo promotions and it was killing him and more often than not he found himself starving from all the practice, so a brisk walk quickly turned into visiting his beloved supermarket.

as he left the shop he had been stopped and greeted by a younger girl, eager and smiley. he was surprised that someone could recognise him, although his best disguise probably needed some updating, but what surprised him the most was that she was talking to him in english. quickly enough he recognised the face, helped by her introduction, jihoon was familiar with lucid since he knew a couple members and it looked like he was about to get know another.

“hello alice, i know of lucid and i’m sure you know who i am but to be humble i’m jihoon of knight.” he smiled and took out a sandwich from his bag and offered it to her, “we can talk over something to eat if you want?”

“i would love to go on hello counsellor! i watch it occasionally and some time i feel i could give better advice than the actual cast haha. i’d love to actually try and help people and give some of my knowledge and wisdom to people who need it.”

17 - what do you do to relieve the stress of idol life?

“even if isn’t the healthiest of habits, i smoke a lot and i’ve been told time and time to quit by friends, family, management and even myself but i can’t trick myself out of it. in slightly better but still detrimental habits, i drink in excess and party quite a lot as my way of letting my stress leave my body as i had learnt to do as a teenager.”

“even though i believe bc was the best option for me, i would love to be under gold star where it’s a lot freer in terms of creativity and intense image management, of course there’s downsides to every company but i think gold star is the most “relaxed” of all three companies.“

1 - what is your favourite single you’ve released?

“that’s a hard decision but my answer is love me right? i loved the sound and it was such a happy and upbeat song, it always felt like a party going on stage and i can’t help but smile every time it gets to my lines. i will continue to promote love me right as our best title to my fans until everyone agrees!”

11 - if you could do a special stage, what would it be and who would it be with?

“i think that would be nice to have a collab with gold star soloist one (nari), i’m a big fan of her and i really love her songs. it’d be cute to do a cover of a slow indie or rnb song, i think it would suit our voices!”

21 - what one song or album by another group or soloist would you have liked to have released yourself?

“definitely decipher’s odd album, every song on that album was brilliant and it’s totally my style, there’s something about view that draws my attention to it a lot. now that i think about it, decipher’s 2015-2016 period was amazing and i wish i could have released albums like there’s.”

30 - what would you like to change about how society views or treats idols?

“well for one i wish they’d stop thinking of us as theses robots made for their attention, as vessels for them to dump all of their criticism on. although our main purpose is to entertain the public that is not all that we do, we are allowed to have lives outside of the “idol” image, whether what we do is good or bad.“

“gravity was an absolute masterpiece of a song, everyone knows this, as well as what is love. other than those two all of our club/house-like songs are amazing to me since i practically grew up with that type of music, like let out the best, artificial love and chill. i also have a soft spot for heaven, i would play it or better yet sing it at my wedding.”

“i’d probably rant to him honestly. i’m tired of his and the company’s harsh management most of the time and i hate that they practically pushed my members, my friends, out of the band for a few scandals. oh how i would love to fight him. while i believe he has set up some of the best groups in kpop and provides us with top notch training and all that good shit he’s still a major asshole (congrats on the baby by the way i hope she’s cute)”

19 - what was the hardest part of being a trainee?

“hm, i think i would say the lengthy hours of rigorous training took me a long time to adjust too especially since i was getting way too relaxed with my life before i entered bc and they set me straight in so many different ways. i also missed my mum and dad a whole lot since they were the whole reason i was doing this, the first few months of my training were… embarrassing to say the least.”

29 - what have you learned about yourself and/or society since becoming a celebrity?

“everyone is an asshole, no matter how nice they are at first, they might not mean to be an asshole but they are. society and it’s netizens always pressure us to be exactly like their fantasies and forget that we’re human and fuck up sometimes, the hate i got after my scandal was ridiculous and i had to learn to get over the mean comments every now and then because at the end of the day behind the comments so bravely written on a screen is someone less successful than you and is hating because they know they could never say it in real life.”

7 - what one thing (concepts, genres, styling, frequency of comebacks etc.) would you like to change about your current career as an idol?

“most likely the frequency of our comebacks. as a rookie you’d be excited to always be promoting, on stage seeing your fans, but as you start to hit the seven year mark of being idol you get tired of having come back after come back, 2016 being probably the worst year for me seeing as we recorded, released and promoted four albums, five including the repackage.”

15 - if you were offered the chance to become a ceo of an entertainment company, new or existing, would you take it? why or why not?

“oho if kim byungchul himself came up to me and asked me to replace him as ceo you bet you’re ass i’d take it, but overall, and as hard as this is to say, i’d say no. i remember back to my younger days and how much i wanted to be a ceo to finally be the “big guy” and gain all that cash, i’ve changed a lot now though and the main reason i’d say no is because i love being in knight too much. i may have become a trainee only because i thought it was my last resort but life as an idol (while painful) has become something i wouldn’t give up, i’ve grown to love it but seriously if bc offered i’d say hell yeah because we getting mistreated in here!“

8 - if you could be in any idol group, which one would you choose?

“ah that’s a hard question since i love knight a lot and wouldn’t choose any other group! i’d probably have to say unity since i love their concepts, they’re always coming up with something new and i love to have a song like limitless or cherry bomb!”

“other than white knight, i think i’d like to have a subunit of all three main vocalists. i’d love for it to be more smooth and r&b-based in terms of sound since i think all of our voices would really suit that concept, accompanied by velvet suits and mic stands. let’s call it black knight!”

28 - what moment in your career are you proudest of so far?

“not to sound generic or anything but our first win was one of the biggest moments of my life followed by debut, i can still remember the feeling of my heart stopping for a couple seconds when they announced wolf as the winner, i reminded me that i can achieve something if i put my best effort into it no matter what! with how mama was received i was scared for wolf and my own career, wondering if i was even ready to debut, but once we got that first win i had regained my confidence as an idol and i’m happy i stuck with knight.”

in these past weeks jihoon had spent a lot of time trying to get achara to accompany him on a night out. he’d met the younger idol off stage at a music show earlier last year and they became friends pretty quickly.

while they had a good friendship sometimes their personalities would clash as jihoon happened to be upbeat and rebellious and achara was more sophisticated and liked to stay on people’s good side. he loved the contrast between them but something inside him wanted to taint her perfect outer layer and corrupt her with parties, sketchy clubs and dangerous alcohol. and here he was trying to convince her to come with him to a close friend’s party tonight.

the familiar jingle plays as jihoon enters the doors of the shop located just by the dorms. it wasn’t unlike him to be in need of a shopping trip at one in the morning but he had really been craving a certain fix of unhealthy stuff and it was killing him.

once he stacks his arms up with all sorts of junk food he quickly glances over to the alcohol aisle and grabs a small bottle of vodka, resting it on top of the box of chocolates he’d picked up earlier. if his manager saw him doing this he would most definitely get reprimanded harshly but no one said he couldn’t have a little fun.

while on his way to the cash register he notices someone staring at him or more likely staring at the bottle he’d just picked up, “what? don’t judge me it’s for a good cause.”

he wasn’t on his usually route today, instead of turning left at the big traffic light he keeps on forward towards the fancy restaurant. the change in scenery was nice, the people he encountered on the street were different, it was refreshing to explore a new area on his irregular walks. however, the one thing he wasn’t expecting was to see an old face stored in the depths of his mind pop up just across the road from him.

if he remembers correctly, it’s joonho of impulse that he’s spotted walking opposite him, flashbacks of a passionate night fly across jihoon’s mind as he goes back to the summer of last year. shaking away the memories he decides to make his way over to the nearby pavement and greet him yet again.
