Cloud Watching
[Beckett Harrington x Emma Carlyle Masterlist]
Pairing: Beckett Harrington x Emma Carlyle (F!MC) Book: The Elementalists 2 Word Count: ~1,000 Rating/Warnings: general, none Submitting to: @choicesaprilchallenge24: Clouds ; @choicesficwriterscreations FotW; @choicesbookclub TE2
Synopsis: Emma tries to teach Beckett to cloud watch.
"Despite the slight distraction-" His cheeks flushed red as his gaze drifted to her lips. He swallowed hard and continued. He took a step forward, following the path back to the dorms. "I think we can say this was quite a productive study session."
Emma's gaze softened as she watched him process the academic merit of successfully completing the cloud shape-shifting spell. And yet, she couldn't help but wonder if he was missing something more important entirely.
"Haven't you ever just lied back on the soft grass on a sunny day and just watched the clouds drift by?" Emma held her finger up, quieting his reply before continuing, "-without magick?"
"What would the value of such an activity be?" His brows knitted together as he questioned the notion.
"To enjoy the beauty of nature."
"I suppose we could discuss the types and classifications of clouds and how they form. Nevertheless, that's rather elementary knowledge." He adjusted his blazer. "Knowing how to manipulate them and bend the air and water vapor to your specifications and designs takes far more knowledge and control."
"You're such a nerd." She shook her head gently. "Not everything has to be about learning or gaining knowledge of information. Some things can be for fun or to relax."
"Did you not have fun shaping the clouds?" A frown fell on his features. To him, mastering a new spell was the perfect amount of fun. It was productive and efficient without any of the more frivolous aspects of fun that caused others to lose control.
"It was fun, but sometimes, just pausing to breathe and enjoy the moment without anything other than nature's own magic is something special." Her gaze shifted to the heavens, letting the sun warm her face. A soft smile spread across her features. "Do you trust me?" Her attention returned to him.
"You need not ask for you know the answer is always." The tips of his ears turned pink despite his attempts to compose himself in her presence.
She held her hand to him, lacing their fingers with his. "Follow me."
Emma guided him off the path and across the quad, finding a spot where the grass was just right, not too short where it would be scratchy and uncomfortable or too long where it might threaten to tickle their skin with the breeze. "Perfect."
She sat on the soft ground, patting the surface for him to sit beside her. Despite his hesitance in getting his khaki pants grass-stained, he complied with her request.
"Now, lay back on the grass and just look at the clouds." Emma led by example, reclining on the quad. Her eyes fluttered closed as she breathed in the fresh air and the scent of the wildflowers dancing in the breeze.
She opened her eyes to find Beckett very much in the same seated position. Her eyes narrowed at him, insisting he follow suit.
"But my blazer!" His eyes widened in horror.
"Take it off if you must, but you're not getting out of this, Harrington. If anyone needs to learn how to cloud-watch, it's you!"
He grumbled slightly, though his eyes betrayed the sentiment. He mirrored her pose. "Okay, now that I'm lying in the dirt, what is it that I am supposed to do?"
"Just watch the clouds."
"Watch them for what?"
"Just watch how they move. How slowly. How swiftly. Do they dance across the sky? What can you see in them? Can you make shapes? animals?—without magick!"
Beckett propped himself up on his elbow, looking over to her with great skepticism. "Is this some sort of tuneless prank?"
"Not a prank."
"So this is something tuneless people do for enjoyment?"
"Some. Others miss the point."
"I must admit that I might be one of them."
Emma sighed before breathing in again, refusing to give up so quickly. She shimmied closer to him, resting her head against his. "See, that one there—" Lifting her arm toward the sky, she pointed toward a fluffy cloud. "—that one's a bunny."
Beckett suppressed the urge to protest. Squinting at the cloud in question, he turned his head to the left, then to the right, trying to see what she saw. "I suppose... if you squint and tilt your head like this, it is uh—vaguely...resembling of a rabbit..." He couldn't stop his analytical mind. "But, from a scientific perspective, clouds are formed by the condensation of water vapor in the atmosphere. Any thought that they form particular shapes is just the human mind searching for meaning. Cloud formation is dependent on temperature, humidity, and air currents." His voice trailed away as the potential of the air magick sparked at his fingertips. "Can't you feel the atmosphere all around us? The air currents pulling in the sky, forming the clouds, shaping them into what they are and could be?"
Emma laughed softly, brushing a kiss on his head. "I love your beautiful brain, but let's focus on trying to bring out your imagination." Her hands drew out a rainbow in front of her head. She knew he wouldn't understand the tuneless reference, but she had seen the meme too many times for her to say the word without the accompanying gesture.
His lips twitched up. "I admire your persistence." He pulled her closer.
Emma rested her head on his shoulder. "Try again." She searched the sky, pointing to the next one. "There. See. Right there, that one is a dragon."
His gaze flickered to her, watching as her face illuminated with wonder. He nodded, squinting as he followed where she gestured. He let the sun warm his face and nodded slowly. "If I squint and... turn my head...and—"
"It's okay." She snuggled into him, giggling at the steady concentration drawing almost painstakingly across his face. "You get an A for effort, Mr Harrington."
"OOo!" Her attention was captured again by the sky. "Now, it looks like it's breathing fire! ICE fire!"
"Ice fire?" His brow arched, amusement dancing on his lips. "I suppose that isn't entirely inaccurate. The clouds are made of ice crystals!"
"At least we can agree on something."
The pair relaxed on the quad, letting the sun caress their skin. With each gentle breeze, the clouds above shifted and danced, creating new shapes and designs for Emma to decipher, reminding Beckett of the magic that could be found in even the simplest moments of life.
A/N: Emma loves Spongebob. Once she learns a spell to make a rainbow, she'll be doing this all day and no one will get it but her and Atlas, because she introduced Atlas to Spongebob and she binged the first few seasons without pausing to sleep!

“Well, that’s it. Zoe’s not anywhere on campus… That mirror must have taken her somewhere else entirely,” Shreya says with a look of defeat on her face.
“The way the glass shattered, I’ve never seen anything like it… “ Beckett racks his brain, searching for some sort of clue. He is trying, and failing miserably to not let his feelings about Zoe get in the way, but he’s worried sick, and it is affecting his ability to think rationally.
They walk back into Zoe and Shreya’s suite, hoping to sit down and come up with a plan to find answers, but as they walk in she’s there. He’s so relieved to see her, but still something seems off.

Dark sun (part 4) – The breakdown (Beckett)
Pairing: Beckett x mc
Book: the Elementalists
Word Count : +/- 1440
Summary: Beckett witnesses Joane’s breakdown and has to face Shreya and Griffin
Authors note: Getting there, i promise. But i feel like developing context is really important before getting to the smutty stuff
Masterlist “Dark Sun” : Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Tag-List: @itsbrindleybinch @flyawayboo @daisy-ashton @thefarrari
Beckett barely wasn’t able to process the events of the last 24 hours properly. To think his greatest fear a day ago had been never seeing her again. After the cold lifeless look she had given him before leaving the gardens he hadn’t been able to move for a few minutes. The girl he had known a few years ago was gone. The women he had met resembled her only in her appearance. His own heart broke over and over again for the loving and happy person that he had fallen in love with so fast and so hard all these years ago.
He started walking away from the tree when his gaze caught hold of the manuscript she had been reading. The pages were all neatly filled with notes on various topics relating to the text passages she had underlined in straight and precise lines. Beckett frowned at that. The Joane he had known had been a messy student to say the least. She had never been prepared for class, always improvising her spells, her notes had been thorough but not organized – she often had to rewrite them the same day in order to be able to make sense of them later. This manuscript seemed to belong to a very different kind of person. I could have been the one writing this… The thought cut through his mind like a knife. She was behaving like he did before meeting her. His father had made sure that he had had no distractions as a child , no friends, no hobbies, no joy – so that he could concentrate full time on his education. This harsh and unloving treatment had left Beckett isolated and solely interested in school. What could have crushed her spirit so thoroughly?
Beckett knew she probably wouldn’t want to talk to him yet and he couldn’t blame her. But he wanted to make sure he could explain himself to her in due time. Even if she wouldn’t like him the same way she had 5 years ago, he hoped with time he could earn back her friendship. He couldn’t picture his life without her in it. Keeping her manuscript close to his heart he started walking back to his dorm - he had to get ready for the staff meeting in an hour.
And then hell broke loose. He was blinded by a burning light and a heatwave washed over him. The air around him warmed up and his skin tickled like when he spend too much time outside in the blazing sun. People were streaming out of the buildings, professors desperately trying to install some kind of order or discipline. In the midst of all these people he saw Griffin quickly head towards the column of light soaring in spirals towards the sky, breaking through the clouds. Joane… it had to be her. Was this the full developed power of a Sun-Att? He suddenly felt very small. How could a small and delicate person like Joane carry such a power inside of her?
Then he saw the expression of worry in Griffins face and how he frantically typed a message on his phone, and Beckett knew there was something very wrong. He took off following Griffin before his brain was able to process what had happened.
Nearing the Penderghast lake Beckett could barely make out his surroundings. A high pitched sound caused his stomach to clench. Whatever emitted that sound had to be in a lot of pain. He had to squeeze his eyes to make out the small person Griffin was headed to. His heart stopped when he saw the light streaming out of her whole body and her arms wrapped tightly around her chest. And then the world went still.
Joane broke down on the ground and wasn’t moving. Beckett stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Shreya getting to her first and falling to her knees next to her body. She was throwing small black orbs around herself that burst into smoke. Where had she come from? And what was she doing? A few seconds later three men teleported next to Shreya. Judging from their appearance they were healers. Beckett knew that Shreya’s father was rich, but teleporting orbs cost millions. The spell could only be performed by blood-attuned mages since it involved the complete dissolving and rearranging of human tissue. And Blood-Atts were practically wiped out. These orbs had either been produced a very long time ago or Mr. Mistry had even more powerful connections than Beckett had thought. At the moment however he felt only gratitude towards the women that shied no expense to help her friend. She barked commands at the healers and only after the three of them had examined Joane she seemed to relax slightly, letting Griffin embrace her tightly. Beckett nearly let out a sigh of relief. Joane seemed to be fine considering the circumstances.
And then Shreyas gaze caught him. Her body went rigid, her eyes went cold and an expression of pure hatred appeared on her face. Griffin looked around to see what had caused her reaction and he went very still, his face betraying no emotion. Beckett had seen that look on his face right before he entered the Thief arena when he knew the game would be hard and brutal. Instinctively he took a step back when Shreya started to walk towards him.
She practically spat her words at him - “So you are back? What do you want? Haven’t you caused enough pain and misery? Go away, burn or die. I don’t care… but do not even consider getting near her - do you understand? You are a disgusting man Becket…”
“Wait… Shreya… what?…” Beckett had expected that they wouldn’t be overjoyed when he would just turn up again the same way he had left 5 years ago. This amount of hatred however shook him. He knew Jo’s friends were fiercely loyal, but it wasn’t his fault that she had broken down there or was it?
“Does she know you are back?” Griffin was trembling from the effort not to punch him straight in his face. The only thing stopping him was the genuine worry in Beckett’s eyes. No one could fake that expression, let alone Beckett who had for the most part of his life only known to how to put on one single expression - that of arrogance - whenever he felt threatened.
“Of course she knows” Shreya gestured towards Joane’s body. “If you haven’t noticed, she nearly succeeded in killing herself shortly after he is back! No one else could have caused this reaction…”
Beckett tried to process all this information, when he only wanted to hold Joane close and hear her breathe… “Listen, i know i have a lot of explaining to do, but can i please go see her? You know i wouldn’t hurt her…”
Apparently this had been the wrong thing to say. Shreya’s expression turned into one of icy rage and when he took an unconscious step towards Joane she threw a column of fire right at him. “Don’t you dare…! For five years you have destroyed her life. Why can’t you leave us alone?”
Pure reflex had him throw up his metal shields that deflected Shreyas blow just in time… Griffin didn’t even move in his defence. What the hell? Why was she attacking him and throwing these accusations at him? He knew that him leaving Joane must have hurt her but this level of self-destruction she had been showing today… he had assumed that Joane would perhaps miss him for some months and then meet some lucky guy that brought back her smile. He had even allowed himself to be jealous of this made-up man of his… He hadn’t given up on her in all these years… could it be she hadn’t given up on him either? He could scarcely imagine the distress that it would have caused him had she disappeared suddenly on him. He never dared imagine her having the same depth of feelings for him… Seeing him again … what had it done to her? Shreya seemed to believe he had caused her breakdown. He had to admit that the timing of it spoke in favour of her argument…
Slowly Beckett stepped back, behind him a crowd of professors and students was heading down to the lake. Feeling suddenly very out of place and not wanting to cause any more trouble he turned around and slowly walked back to his room. He did not dare to let down his shields before he was back at his office…

Book- Bloodbound
Pairing- Adrian x MC (Andrea)
Here it is, my first ever Bloodbound fic, titled by my bestie @darley1101 because I suck at thinking them up. I am submitting this for @meeraaverywalker November challenge days 17- Taking a bath, requested by annonymous, and 28- Fire, requested by @annekebbphotography. I hope I do this justice! I’m using my perma-tag, if you want to be added, removed, or only tagged in certain books/pairings (TRR, LH, ILB, BSC, PM, RCD, BB, TE) all you have to do is ask! I hope you enjoy this and if you do, please like, comment or reblog! I appreciate every single note! My masterlist is not linked because I don’t know if the issue has been resolved, you can find it in my bio! Word Count- 1011 (Surprised?! Me too!)
_______________
The acrid smell of smoke clung to Andrea’s clothes, assaulting her nose as she let herself into the guest suite on the forty-ninth floor of Raines Corporation. Exhausted and depleted, she dropped the hastily packed bag she carried with a sigh and headed straight for the luxurious bathroom that overlooked Central Park. She filled the claw-foot soaking tub with near scalding water as she stripped down, adding some of the lavender oil the company provided for guests before stepping in. Mindful of the phone in her hand, she slid down, closing her eyes as the soothing water engulfed her.
Being in a relationship with Adrian, to be a human in a world of vampires, Andrea always imagined that any danger she would have to face would be of the supernatural variety. Not a fire in the apartment two doors down from hers. When she smelled something burning, she brushed it off, assuming old Mrs. Pavletich in 3C forgot the cookies in her oven again. The next thing she knew, she was coughing as black smoke began to fill her apartment and the buildings fire alarm rang loudly in her ears. Ignoring every fire safety lesson she learned in elementary school, she ran to her bedroom as adrenaline rushed through her veins, shoving whatever she could get her hands on into a duffel bag, making sure she took the diamond tennis bracelet and ruby pendant Adrian had given her for their anniversary.

Unprofessional
In the firelight of his office after the feral attack and the almost-debriefing, Adrian finds his resolve to keep things strictly professional with Isabel wavering.
Story Notes: Adrian x MC, rated M-ish I guess for non-explicit descriptions of sexually charged situations. Enjoy my lovelies <3
Isabel’s tears – which were more the unexpected result of shock, rather than fear – subsided with a few little hiccups. She looked up to see Adrian, who had guided her onto the plush antique leather sofa in his office before slinking off a word, returning and cradling a bottle of something honey-brown in colour, with two crystal glasses cradled in his other hand.
“My secret stash,” he said with a wink, in response to Isabel’s questioning gaze. “It’s not every day that you survive a Feral and decline a debriefing – you’ve earned this.” Adrian poured them both a drink - including a second for Isabel after she downed the first one immediately, with no more judgement than a tiny, amused quirk of his eyebrow.
The pair silently chinked their glasses together and drank deeply to their silent toast; to making it through a long night, and not long in the way that either of them typically liked. Of course, the stroll through the archives had been lovely, as had Adrian’s startlingly sweet confessions about wishing they could drink coffee in the sun together. As a next best thing, Adrian lit a fire in the fireplace, before sitting next to Isabel on the couch.

Baby, I Love You [Adrian x MC] (Part One)
Characters: Adrian Raines & MC (Amy)
Inspired by: Little Mix - I Love You
Note: Can he (or whichever Li we’ve chosen) just say it to our faces already? Ik it’s a big thing but.... some of us have been persistent with 1 love interest for a long ass time.
It was a cool summers night as Amy enjoyed some well earned relaxation with Lily and Kamilah, whilst the guys hit the beach. They all gathered in Amy’s hotel room with snacks and drinks and spa stuff. Amy had rented a couple of movies and they planned to stay in all night and just have fun without fear of running from anything or anyone. Their enemies were gone. They could have peace now. “Allllllright!” Lily laughed “we have crackers, chips, steak, pizza. All the good stuff. Who’s ready to rela-“ she stopped as she stared at Kamilah, who looked up bewildered. “What? I’m getting into my robe!” She protested. Amy looked back an forth between them, stifling a laugh. “Come on Lily! We’ve earned this, plus we’re all women here. There’s nothing to hide!” She exclaimed excitedly as she grabbed Lily by the shoulders and guided her to the bathroom “why dont you get ready here and I’ll go help Kamilah get the stuff for the face masks ready” Amy continued as she left, closing the bathroom door behind her. Soon enough they were laughing and joking as they, watched movies and told each other stories from their pasts. Now... Amy knew vampires were able to get drunk but she wasn’t prepared for how crazy she was about to get that night....
- - Meanwhile At The Beach - -
Adrian sat on the cool soft sand as Jax smashed open a couple of coconuts for them to drink from. “Sorry that it’s not the good stuff Raines” he half-heartedly joked as he took a seat next to Adrian, passing him a coconut. Adrian shook his head “Nah, it’s alright. I need a break from the hard stuff. We’ve drank too much in the past months to cope with the heartache this destruction brought with it” He said solemnly, accepting the fruit. They sat in silence for a while, watching the wave as they silently crashed against themselves and the shore. It was a peaceful and comfortable silence they shared before placing their coconuts securely in the sand, Adrian drawing his knees to his chest and staring up at the night sky. Jax watched him carefully, the peace that fell over Adrian’s face. He smiled to himself, it was the first time he’d seen the dirty blonde haired man at peace since they met.
Jax gently tapped Adrian’s arm bringing him out of his thoughts. “Hm?” Adrian hummed as he turned his attention to Jax, “Nothing. It’s just... you, you look really at peace. Like you’re accepting everything that’s happened. I’m happy for you” he said with a sincere smile as Adrian nodded in agreement. “I am.” He answered taking a deep breath, “I’m finally accepting everything that’s happened to me. Coming to terms with it all and moving on. And I have Amy to thank for that. Who knows were I’d be without her. Hell, who know where any of us would be” He speaks out confidently. Beside him Jax nods in agreement “She’s one hell of a woman. I’ll give her that. She’s badass” he chuckles, “mmm. She’s GOT a bad ass” Adrian adds quietly thinking Jax doesn’t hear but it becomes apparent he did when Adrian turns his head see the look on his face. They both burst out laughing “okaay. Grandpa’s open about his sex life. Greeeeeaaattt.” He says through the laughter that travels into the night.
- - Around 3.54am the next morning - -
Laughter filled the hotel room as the girls played games of ‘Truth or Truth’ ‘Who am I?’ and ‘Never Have I Ever.’
“Oooo oo oooh! Let’s play Spin The Bottle! But we have to ask each other about current partners OR crushes we have now or have had” Lily slurred as she emptied a beer bottle and laid it on the table in front of them. “OMG YEEESSSSS! I LOVE THIS GAME!” Amy screamed as she came crashing over the back of the couch, laughing as she somersaulted straight over landing on the floor. She was completely wasted. Much more so than Lily and Kamilah, she looked at them as they all laughed before helping her up. “That was fun!” She exclaimed. Lily shook her head and said they were about to play. They were half way through their game when there was a knock at the door.
Being the most sober of the three, Kamilah composed herself and answered the door “oh! Jax... hey. I thought you and Adrian were hanging out tonight?” She said curiously. Amy and Lily went silent and listened in on the conversation. Soon the door shut with a click and Kamilah re-entered the room with Jax and Adrian in tow. “These babies were bored without us ladies” Kamilah mocked as Jax and Adrian took seats in the living room. Amy whispered in Lily’s ear and soon the two were giggling like school girls again. Clutching their sides as the 3 elder vampires shared a confused look. Amy had spoken so quietly that they didn’t hear a thing. Eventually they calmed down and Lily whispered to Kamilah, who smiled at her and nodded. The 3 women left the room and came back in their pyjamas. As they sat down Amy spoke “come join us boys!” In tone that was loud and excited. She was wasted af but she didn’t care. No-one in the room had seen her like this before. Not even Lily. The boys sat with them and completed a circle on the floor, “okay.... it’s time for truth, dare or strip!” Lily announced happily, Amy whooped so loud that it made Jax jump. At some point Kamilah switched pouring Amy vodka shots and replaced them with water. But she was so wasted, she didn’t even notice.
“Okay. Last one!” Lily exclaimed as she spun the bottle. They watched it spin until it landed on Amy. “Ooooooooo” everyone chorused. “Amy.... tru-“ Kamilah started to ask but was cut of “dare!” Amy shouted. Kamilah shared a knowing look with Lily and Jax, who nodded. “We dare you to go have 7 minutes in heaven wiiiiiiith.... Adrian” Lily spoke confidently. A blush creeped onto both of their faces as they looked at each other across the circle. Slowly the both got up and made their way down the hall to the bedroom. Once the door clicked shut Lily whispered “We’ve got 2.5 minutes to clear up and get out” she said urgently as she stifled a yawn. Together Kamilah, Lily and Jax all whizzed round and cleared everything away and left the hotel room and made their way to the elevator, heading back to their own rooms.

To love again - Adrian x MC fanfic
Summary: Annie has a hard time falling asleep in Adrian’s old house. Adrian never wanted to be turned in the first place, yet here Annie was, enjoying the perks of that - a couple of centuries later.
Unable to ignore the feelings gnawing on her, she gets out to get some fresh air. Adrian follows her and they share a much needed heart to heart talk, and finally come clean about their feelings.
Author’s note: I chose to only cuddle with Adrian in the diamond scene in his house from when he was human. Something felt really ‘meh :\’ about sleeping with him right after he opened up about such a painful experience as the brutal death of his wife and son, especially in the bed that once belonged to said wife.
Somehow it felt different than the time on the company’s rooftop (even though he mentioned a different long-lost lover there, too). It felt more real and personal.
I think Annie would have a hard time falling asleep, after that, but Adrian would follow her and assure her that nothing that happened was her fault, and that he’s glad to be here with her, now.
It’s a little bit angst-y, but not much. Happy ending guaranteed!
Tagging: @writtenbycandy @mariamatsuo @diamond-dreamland @asprankle @kamybelen-blog @lovethroughthemiles. Comment on this post to let me know if you wanna be tagged as well.
Annie laid on top of Adrian’s chest, rising and falling with each content breathe he took.
To think just a few hours ago they’d saved him and had to snick him off in a dangerous plan out of harm’s way.
Now were on the run… And yet Annie couldn’t think about anything but how happy she was in that moment. How in peace she felt, laying on top of him tangled in his arms.
She didn’t fall asleep, not yet - But she suspected he did and tried to move the least possible not to disturb him.
God, he’s been through a lot.

Adrian x mc for fluff # 5 💕
“When it Raines”
⇾ 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Adrian Raines x Stella Campbell
⇾ 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘆: a city wide blackout, a rainstorm, smooth Jazz playing in the background, slow dance in the moonlight, and perhaps a deep buried feelings gets shared?
⇾ 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁: 1.1k
⇾ 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴(𝘀): fluff / typos?
⇾ 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝗴: I wrote this listening to this so.
⇾ 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱: 5# “it’s always been you.”
⇾ 𝗔/𝗡: I know since it’s December I should’ve used a snow storm, but if I missed the opportunity to name a fic when it raines and have Adrian Raines in it and not have a rain storm be the main plot what’s the point. This is my first ever bb fluffy piece so bear with me. Prompt is from dialogue prompt list. Enjoy
The inky darkness sank into the night. This was followed by flashes of lightning bursting on the streets and steadily made its way from one end of the city to the other. Sometimes flashing bolts of pure energy seem to stand for long moments around certain buildings.
The storm hit around 1:00 in the morning. Stella and Adrian were still in the office working late– time seemed to pass by them. Neither of them realized it was this late. Things seem to be getting back to normal; well as normal as it could be for the vampires in New York. Brick by brick they were putting the city back together in their way and with the help of a certain goddess no less.
The rain bore down mercilessly upon the heart of the city, pounding on the rooftops and turning the busy streets of downtown Manhattan into a puddle of water. Startled by the sound of thunder crashing into the night sky, Stella looked up at the window— when suddenly the lights went out.
Stepping out of her desk and walking towards the big glass window of Raine Corp. The sky was tar-black and the large clouds were moving towards her. The tapping on the window was heard and then it became a pitter-patter. People ran for cover outside and umbrellas were opened. Puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier.
Slowly but surely the city was coming back to life and that though alone comforted her. Perhaps this rain would wash away the pain that was left behind.
A light tap on her shoulder erupted Stella’s train of thoughts bringing her back to her senses. Turning around she was faced with Adrian, a bright smile on his face. The moonlight illuminating his beautiful features so perfectly. She couldn’t help but stare at the way his grey suit clung to him in all the right places; most men looked attractive in a suit, yes, but Adrian in a suit was a whole other story.
“Come with me, I want to show you something.” He held her closer to him looking deep in her chestnut eyes.
“What’s going on?” She asked skeptically.
Adrian’s beautiful hues pierce through her so fiercely; for a moment she found it hard to breath; just by a mere look– he stole her breath away. After all this time and everything they’ve been through, she should’ve gone used to it, yet still– Stella kept on finding herself lost in his eyes.
“Nothing serious, just follow me.” He motioned towards her with his hand and she grasped it, following him upstairs to the penthouse.
The penthouse was a sight for sore eyes, and she couldn’t help the small gasp that escaped her lips as her eyes wandered across the living room. The only light was that of the moonlight peering through the windows, as well as the candles he had lit and spread throughout the room. Soft, slow music emanated through the house from the old record player, which played a beautiful piece of smooth jazz.
“I hope this isn’t a bit too much?” Adrian asked from behind her, mouth hovering next to her ear, his voice just above a whisper and his heart was beating faster than the speed of light.
“This is— beyond beautiful .” Stella breathed looking around in awe at the lone vase of yellow roses, which sat on the coffee table. “When did you even have time to get these?” She asked, but he didn’t answer, instead, he merely chuckled and pulled her towards the center of the living room, his hand still grasping hers.
“Dance with me,” He said in a low voice, his eyes never leaving hers. A bright smile lit up her face as he pulled her body gently into his; leading her in slow circles. Waltzing around in the middle of the living room like it’s the most normal thing to do.
Her face rested gently in the crook of his neck, humming along to the music softly. Both completely consumed with the happiness that this little moment brought upon them. A rare occurrence for them both.
After a few moments, Adrian kissed the side of her temple, resting his face next to hers. “Marry me,”
Stella froze. Unable to form any coherent words at that moment. “wh–“ was all she could mutter.
He lifted her chin up with one finger, “Marry me.” He stated again, searching for an answer within her bright wide eyes.
“Ha– have you even thought this through Adrain? Do you even have a-“
Before she could finish, he pulled out a small velvet box, bending down on one knee, opening the box and taking her left hand in his.
“It’s always been you..” he trailed off. “Ever since I’ve lost my wife and child all those years ago, a black void filled my heart consuming me from the inside out. I never believed I was worthy of love nor affection after everything I have done.. not until I met you.”
He paused again, “when you di— when I almost lost you; I realized that even though we are immortal beings we don’t have the luxury of forever. Life is too short to be spent mourning what might’ve been my past; when what could be my future is right in front of me. I’m not taking any more chances. I’m not going to lose you again.” Shaking his head, he looked back up at her, she could see tears welling at the corner of his eyes.
“I want your heart in my chest -
Your breath in my lungs,
I want to be more than a
Star in your cosmos;
I want to be the ocean on your earth
The waves on your shore.
I wish to be your everything, Stella
I wish to give you the world and then some more.
That is if you will have me. Will you do me the greatest honor of becoming my wife?”
Without hesitation, she nodded. While Adrian wipped some of the tears that were still falling insistently down her face. “Yes!”
He grinned, easily sliding the gorgeous ring onto her finger and standing, pulling her by the hand into a hug, gently lifting her feet off the ground spinning her in circles.
“I love you.” She said breathlessly as he set her down.
“And I love you more than all the days and nights, deeper than the oceans and the skies and until death do us part.” He replied, kissing her forehead as he kept his arms around her.
The lights flickered back on and at that moment all was good in the world.

Someone Else
Book: The Elementalists
Ship: Beckett Harrington x MC
A/N: In which Beckett attends a game of Thief to congratulate his favorite Thief player on her stellar plays — but ends up seeing some things that make him more than a little jealous. (IN THIS STORY THE MC IS FEMALE AND A SUN-ATT/METAL-ATT)
Rating: PG
He’d never been much of one for sports.
But for her, he’d make an exception.
He leaned against the edge of the stands, trying to get a clear look at her. The game had just ended — thanks to her terrific playing, he might add — and the team would be exiting right by where he stood in a matter of seconds.
Beckett’s hand began to sweat around the little metal trinket in his hand.
He’d fashioned it late last night after he had compeleted his homework and studying. It had taken him most of the night to get it right. Beckett had never spent much time making things that served no practical purpose, so thinking creatively while using his magic had proved to be a good challenge.
Other players began to pass by him, jostling each others’ shoulders and letting out loud whoops, each quickly echoed in the stands. Beckett frowned. Where was she?
He became aware of a high, melodic laugh drifting towards him from under the stands. Under the stands?
He turned his head to look through the scaffolding underneath the stadium seating. Two figures stood beneath, leaning over a small ball of flame.
“It’s not hard to manipulate it,” the taller one was saying, and the flame stretched out into a curling ribbon before coiling back. With a start, Beckett recognized him as Everett Merkseyer, the captain of the Penderghast Thief team.
And he was talking to her.
“I know it’s funny because I’m a Sun-Att…but Fire spells have been pretty hard for me.” She gestured at the flames. “Not sure if I’ll ever be able to do that.”
“Nonsense,” Everett replied easily, and the flames took the shape of a dog, bounding across the air and around her shoulders. She laughed again. It pranced back into his hand and the fire winked out. “I bet you can do all kinds of advanced Sun spells.”
Beckett craned his neck, trying to make them out in the dark. What were they doing under there? What was she doing under there? And with Everett Merkseyer, of all people?
“Well…” Her voice was soft, playful. Beckett bristled. All of a sudden, light flared from beneath the seats — light that was pouring straight from her skin.
She was glowing.
Everett watched, his mouth opened slightly, eyes wide. “That’s incredible,” he finally said. One of his hands reached forwards, touching her cheek next to her eye.
Beckett stared, feeling overheated and slightly sick. What was Everett playing at? Even if he was a senior, the Thief captain, someone everyone knew and adored…what did he think he was doing going around and looking at her that way? Touching her that way? A sort of dark, clawing sensation unfurled in his chest, bringing the sound of his heart’s pounding loud into his ears.
“It’s nothing,” she said in reply, and blushed. Blushed. Something in Beckett’s gut howled. He felt his lip curl into a snarl.
“You’re something else,” Everett murmured softly, so softly that Beckett almost missed the words. And then, in horror, he watched as the Thief captain leaned forwards, his head tilting downwards as her chin tipped backwards, her dark waves sliding further and further down her elegantly curved back —
A clatter sounded as the metal trinket fell from Beckett’s fist. It echoed loudly through the stadium — when had everyone left?
“Beckett?” she said, and he caught sight of her shocked and reddened face before the glow emanating from her skin went dark.
His own cheeks burned. A feverish feeling was spreading down his arms, his legs, making his fingers shake. He pressed his left hand to his leg to stop it and bent to retrieve his creation with the other.
“I—“ he started, his voice cracking. Beckett steeled his features and cleared his throat. “You played…well. This is for you.” Before he could lose the nerve, he tossed the object in his hand towards her and turned away before he could see her catch it. “I’ll…I’ll see you tomorrow.”
As quickly as he could, Beckett began to retreat, so fast he was almost jogging. God. More than anything he felt embarrassed. Sure, she had flirted with him. But that was probably more her personality than her actually liking him. After all, he couldn’t measure up to somebody like Everett Merkseyer — next to him, Beckett was a nerdy freshman who had arrived at school with no friends. Actually, that was him compared to anyone. A spear of hurt pierced through his heart anyways, twisting deeper and deeper the faster he walked. Blood rushed in his ears, and his surroundings blurred. Why had she made him feel like this? It was throwing him off his game. And he hated being thrown off his game.
In his mind, he imagined her calling after him, her voice faint. Beckett finally broke into a run, trying to put as much distance between the stadium and himself as possible. The faster he went the less he could think, and thinking was the last thing he wanted to do right now —
“Beckett!”
He slowed. That voice was…not in his head. It echoed his name again and he turned slowly.
She was jogging up to him, still in her Thief uniform, the dusk sky overhead casting a serene purplish glow over her. Her dark hair was slightly tangled around her shoulders, her eyes wide and confused.
Beckett thought she looked beautiful.
She stopped in front of him, propping one hand on her hip, the other tucked in her uniform pocket. “Where are you going so fast?”
“Um…just…the library? I mean…yes. I’m going to study…at the library,” he finished lamely, wiping his sweaty palms against his slacks.
One of her slender eyebrows lifted. “Beckett, you are going in the opposite direction from the library.”
If possible, his cheeks heated more. “Right. Well then.” He turned in the right direction and tried to smile at her. It came out more like a pained wince. “I’ll see you tomorrow,” he said again.
“Wait, Beckett.” She stepped closer, and pulled her hand out of her pocket. “Did you make this?”
He stared at the object dangling from her delicate hands. It was made from golden metal shaped into a sun, cut in a way that captured the light and seemed to glow with a light of its own. A small chain welded to the the top disappeared into her palm.
“Oh, um…yes. I understand that you are not able to wear jewelery during matches of Thief, but there is nothing in the bylaws that states that one cannot carry onto the field with them a charm of good luck —“
“And you made me one,” she cut in. And smiled. Beckett felt like maybe he was dying slowly.
“I…did.”
And then she was really grinning, and throwing her arms around him. She smelled good, even after a game of Thief — like wildflowers and white tea. He startled, stiffening. Then, slowly, tenatively, he placed his arms around her.
“I love it,” she said into his shoulder, and pulled back to look him in the eye. A smile still tugged at the side of her mouth. “Now tell me why you ran away before I could thank you.”
His mouth became dry. “I didn’t want to intrude,” he said slowly, his voice montone.
“Intrude?” She turned her head to the side, and a confused line appeared between her eyebrows. “On what?”
She was really going to make him say it. Another wave of heat descended on his face. “On you and Everett.”
“On me and — oh. Oh.” Her eyes widened, turning to round dark moons in her face. “Beckett, what did you think I was doing there?”
“I only saw…some of it,” he said gruffly, and forced his eyes to the tree to her left, pretending to be intensely interested in the patterns of the bark. Which, to be fair, were pretty interesting.
“He’s just been helping me with Fire spells.” She sounded mystified. “I figured because he’s a Fire-Att and a senior he’s good help. And it’s always dark under the bleachers, so it’s a good place to practice —“
“I’ll help you,” Beckett said, and before he could stop himself, he reached to take her hands in his. “I’ve studied to the end of next year in Fire spells. Anything you need, I can do it.” He was desperate to touch her. He was even more desperate to kiss her.
She looked away. “That’s okay. I understand that you’re busy.”
“No. Let me help you.” Some sort of pleading undertone had infected his voice but for some reason he couldn’t even be disgusted with himself. “Let me.”
She gave him a funny look. “Look, Beckett, I appreciate it, but Everett—“
And before he could think beyond needing to make sure he never heard her say Everett’s name again, before he could compose himself, he was grabbing her shoulders and pulling her into his arms and kissing her.
A small noise of surprise escaped her and he drank it in the way a dying man drinks in his last breaths. All he could feel now was a sort of fierce satisfaction that she was here, with him, in his arms instead of someone else’s.
She started to laugh against his mouth, the sound light and nearly disbelieving. “Beckett,” she gasped, leaning back. “Are you jealous?”
He only pressed his lips into a thin line.
“Oh my God.” She reached up to rest her hand on the side of his neck. “You are.”
“Don’t laugh,” he said stiffly. “It’s not funny.”
“It so is.” She pulled him down for another quick kiss, which was far too short for him. Her lips retreated after a mere second, leaving him leaning down into her like a buffoon. “But don’t worry, Beckett. You’ve got no competition.”
A bolt of shock froze him in place. “I…I don’t?”
“No.” She began walking her fingers up his chest, toying with the lapels of his blazer. “Do I have any competition?”
“Would you kiss me again if I said yes?”
She punched him lightly just below his shoulder. “I’d kiss you again anyways, nerd.”
Relief swept through him, so strong that his knees nearly buckled. He was pretty sure he was smiling stupidly, because his cheeks sort of ached from it, but in that moment he didn’t care. “You have nothing to worry about.” His smile softened as his tone became serious. “You’re all I want. You’re all I’ve wanted since I met you.”
“You seemed to hate me when you met me,” she replied teasingly.
“I didn’t.” He tucked her hair behind her ears, and allowed his fingers to caress her cheeks. “I was…jealous of you. But I’m not anymore.”
“Really?” Her eyebrows flicked skywards.
“No. I’m just really,” he pressed a kiss to her left cheek, “really,” another to the right cheek, “really proud of you.”
“Oh?” Her words ghosted over the skin of his neck.
Beckett grinned. “After all, my girlfriend is the best Thief player that Penderghast has ever seen.”
She swatted him on the arm with a snort. “Is that what I am?”
“Do you want to be?”
Her eyes glimmered. “God, Beckett. I thought I already was.”

ooo how about headcanons for when someone is hitting on fem!mc in front of beckett and making her uncomfortable?
Hiya! Sorry this took so long to write, I kinda went overboard. Thanks so much for writing to me!
someone hitting on fem!mc + jealous Beckett
I'd imagine it's some sort of gala that Beckett's family attends and his family wanted his gf there
Another man from some other bougie-ass family comes over and asks to dance with his gf and Beckett is about to tell him to kick rocks until…
Beckett's own father said that he could!!!
The man pulls her to the dance floor before gf or Beckett could say anything
At first Beckett is stunned at what just happened but then he quickly turns furiously to his father
"Father! What was that?? That's my girlfriend! Why on Earth would you say yes?? It wasn't your place to respond in the first place!"
"I'm sorry but his family is a close partner of ours. We must keep the peace"
At this point Beckett is disgusted. His gf's decisions aren't his place to make
Meanwhile the man dancing with gf is so spinning her so much she's starting to get dizzy
When they aren't twirling all he's talking about how rich his family is
She was so excited to dance and spend time with Beckett, not some egotistical stranger!
Beckett stands up but his father grabs his arm and whisper-yells before he walks off
"Beckett Harrington! Compose yourself! It's just one dance and she'll be fine. Don't you dare cause a scene!"
Beckett casts his voice louder, just enough to grab the attention of nearby tables
"Fuck yeah, I'll cause a goddamn scene. Force your dumbass expectations on me whenever you want, just don't bring her into it!”
Mr. Harrington's eyes widen and jaw drops along with the eyes and jaws of the people at nearby tables.
His own son has never raised his voice at him, let alone heard him use obscene language ever!
The father and son stare death stares into each other but Beckett knows he's got the upper hand because there’s no way his father will cause a scene himself with his reputation at stake
He eventually lets go of Beckett’s shoulder and Beckett strides over to his gf and the weird stranger that she’s dancing with
“I believe that my girlfriend never said yes to your proposal to dance in the first place and you’re clearly making her uncomfortable”
The man’s eyes widen at Beckett with a smug smile
“You may want to tone it down, Harrington junior. Don’t forget that my family aides yours whenever they request. You don’t want to lose one of your family's greatest allies because of this do you?”
Beckett’s eye starts to twitch but he knows how to deal with him
“One of the greatest? Hah! My family could buy yours if we wanted to. Not to mention it wouldn’t be much of a loss if their oldest son can’t handle being confronted!”
The stranger lets out a huff and walks off
That’s when his gf wraps her arms around Beckett and they start a small yet elegant waltz, chest-to-chest
“My knight in shining armour came to save the day huh?” his gf says lovingly, kissing the tip of his nose
Beckett chuckles “I told you; I’d do anything to protect you. No matter what.”
She chuckles back as he soothingly drops his hand to the small of her back. And his gf lay her head right beneath his his chin
“I’m so sorry about my father responding for you. I have no idea why he thinks that’s okay!”
“It’s fine. I’m gonna have to tolerate him if I want a future with you.”
Beckett cups her face with both his hands and looks deep in her eyes
“If I have to choose, I’ll pick you. Always.”
She’s stunned at what he just said but it quickly turns to a deep and yearning love as Beckett kisses her lips deeply
As you can guess, nothing can set these two apart

More Or Less (Beckett x MC)
Summary: Beckett prides himself on being familiar with every branch of magick, but this particular spell? He can’t work it out at all.
Word Count: 1,900
Book: The Elementalists
Pairing: Beckett Harrington x MC (Freya Brindley)
Author Note: This is just ridiculously indulgent. Horrible bus rides have that effect.
“You don’t have to do that all the time, you know.”
“Do… what?”
“The… well, it’s not strictly speaking a glamour because there is no rearrangement in the visible spectrum, but it’s similar.” And it as something that he hadn’t yet found in any of the text books he’d tried. “You’re casting it continuously, but your energy levels don’t seem to deplete. And you don’t eat an excessive amount –“
“Now hold on, you’ve seen me at breakfast.”
“What I mean to say is, you are using your magick without pause and without noticeably replenishing. You are powerful, but that is extraordinary and I want to know how.”
“Beckett, I have no idea what you’re on about. I think I’d know if I was casting something continuously.”
“Are you saying you’re not?”
I’m saying I’m not.” She looks up at him with an unwavering, challenging gaze.
Beckett scowls. “You’re doing it right now!”
“Am not!”
“You are!” he protests, “That… thing where you juggle people’s insides and turn their minds fuzzy and jumble their speech and why are you looking at me like that?”
She’s trying not to laugh, but he’s surprised to notice that her cheeks have turned pink.
“Oh…” she says, her voice impossibly gentle. “Beckett, really?”
“Really what?” With a start, he wonders whether she even realises that she’s doing it. That would be a level of power he has never encountered before. Are all Sun-Atts like this?
Freya bites her lip and slides off the bench to stand in front of him. For a few seconds she just looks at him with her head tilted to one side before she gives a short nod and smiles.
“I want to try something,” she says, “An experiment.”
“You… what?”
“I want to… erm… test the spell. Close your eyes.”
Ha! So she finally admits it. With a smug smile, Beckett stands straight and hesitates for a moment before closing his eyes. When she speaks again, he turns his head to follow her voice.
“Okay, here’s what we’re going to do. When I ask, if the spell feels stronger I want you to say ‘more’. If it feels weaker, you say ‘less’. If you want me to stop, say ‘stop’. I want to check how it works and it’s not something I could ask most people.”
“Yes… well… most people aren’t as perceptive as me.”
“Uh huh. Yep. That’s it. Exactly. Whatever you say.”
He can hear in her voice that she’s trying not to laugh and he frowns, almost opening his eyes to check.
“So we’ll call this the starting point,” she says and he hears a rustle of fabric. “More or less now than normal?”
Beckett considers. “Slightly less,” he said. Interesting. Perhaps there is some visual element to this spell, even if it’s not a glamour. Certainly its effects are increased by eye contact, he’d worked that out weeks ago. This could be a useful experiment for him too, to figure out exactly how this spell of hers works.
He hears soft footsteps on the wooden floor and then silence. A long silence. Beckett starts to fidget. Is this a prank? Has she left him standing alone in the middle of the library while she runs off to laugh about the whole thing with her friends? Just as he’s given her up for gone, something nudges his hand and he lets out a startled yelp.
“Sorry.” Her voice is a murmur now and filled with warmth. And right by his ear. Beckett’s skin prickles as he pictures how close she must be, how she must be standing on tiptoes and leaning towards him for her breath to be tickling his skin like that. “More or less?” Was her voice this smooth before? Is this part of it? Tremors skitter up Beckett’s spine and he squeezes his eyes more tightly shut to stop himself from opening them.
“More,” he says, and is rather pleased at how steady his voice is, considering.
A beat, and then there’s that touch again. Slower now, fingers brushing over his palm. Freya take his hand in hers, her thumb rubbing back and forth across his knuckles in slow, gentle sweeps. Deep in his chest, he can feel his heartbeat quicken.
“More or less?”
“More.” Definitely more. The entire surface of his skin feels heated.
“Beckett,” she sighs and he feels the breath rush from him in one go. Her voice is laced with magick that sinks deep into his bones. Even if he hadn’t known that names had their own kind of power, the way she whispered his can only be a spell. She sounds so gentle and soothing, like blankets worn out to fuzzy softness.
“M- More.” It takes him a moment, this time, to collect himself. This is a strong spell, he realises, and not like any he has come across before, in person or in books. The sound of his name in her voice like that, her making it caress his very core, is making him thrum like a plucked string.
She moves closer, close enough that her breath ghosts along his jaw. “Oh, Beckett,” she whispers again. Her fingers lace with his. “Haven’t you realised yet?”
He frowns at that, thrown off and confused. He hasn’t missed anything, he’s sure. He’s so caught up in thinking that when her free hand traces his hairline he lets out a groan before he can stop himself.
For a few moments, Freya doesn’t speak. Her fingers comb slowly through his hair and he is aware of her touch in every follicle. He can feel the tension in his spine melting away and has to bite back another moan. She pauses, then squeezes his hand. He squeezes back, ‘I’m okay’. Her spell may be utterly disarming, but he has never felt bliss like this before.
“It happens to me, too,” she whispers as her hand comes down to cup his cheek. It takes everything he has not to lean into her touch.
“You… What?”
“It happens to me.” Her palm is cool and her thumb is brushing a distractingly slow line back and forth along his cheekbone. “When you look at me like you can’t work out what I am… when you blush… when you smile… oh my god, Beckett, when you smile…”
There’s a huskiness in her voice now that makes him shiver. His face, his whole being, is burning and he clings to the hand holding his as though it will help him from sinking completely into distraction.
“Beckett, it’s not a spell.”
“Wha-?” He almost opens his eyes at that. Snapping his mouth shut, he gives his head a little shake. “More. Of course it’s a spell.” It’s so strong now, plucking right at his core. How can she deny it?
“Really,” she whispered. “I get this warm, shivery feeling whenever I see you looking at me. When you talk about magick and you get so excited that you almost trip over your words in the rush to get them out, it makes me feel like I never want to hear anything else again. And now…” She lifts his hand and presses it to the soft skin just under her jaw and he has to resist an impulse to learn her face as thoroughly by touch as he already has by sight. Freya tilts her head away and that’s when he feels it under his fingertips. Her pulse is fluttering like a baby bird.
“I… You… I don’t…”
“If I’m casting a spell then you are too,” she murmurs, her hand covering his where it still rests against her neck. “And I’m under it.”
That’s when he opens his eyes.
His breath catches. They’re so close, almost touching chest to chest. One of his hands is still tucked under her jaw and one of his still cups his cheek. Her gaze meets his, warm and liquid and enchanting and as he watches, she turns her head towards his hand. As her lips brush his palm, he lets out a whimper. She sighs and looks up at him again.
“More,” she whispers, her smile achingly soft.
“Freya…” He doesn’t quite understand, he can barely focus.
Her whole face lights up as he says her name and she gives his hand a squeeze that’s echoed in his stomach. His breathing is unsteady, but he can’t bring himself to care. He lets himself smile back.
“You feel like this?”
She nods, tracing his cheekbone. “Constantly, when you’re around.”
“I…” His brow furrows. Freya watches him, patient and steady as he thinks. When it hits him, he feels himself flush. “Oh…” he breathes, eyes wide. “Oh, I…” He’s been so stupid! “It’s not a spell.”
She smiles and shakes her head. “Might be easier if it were, hmm?”
“It’s you.”
She laughs at that, a soft, warm sound that hollows out his insides and replaces them instead with something rich and molten and wonderful.
“If it’s me, it’s you too,” she murmurs.
He moves his hand to cup her cheek and she lets out a sigh, her eyes fluttering briefly closed.
Beckett bites his lip. “M- More or less?” He can’t stop his voice trembling.
“More.” She bites her lip and rests her hand against his chest. He knows what she’ll feel there. If this continues, he’s sure he’ll have a bruise on the inside of his rubs.
Freya tilts her head up and he watches her, entrances, as her gaze darts from his eyes to his mouth and back again. Her cheeks are pink and he is certain that his own must match. The more he looks, the more he aches with want. She opens her mouth as though to speak, then frowns a little and bites her lip.
She’s going to step away. He knows it. She’ll make some excuse and pull back from him and he’s just trying to remember the words to ask her to stay close when her lips press against his, shocking the breath out of him.
Freya’s hands cup his face with a light touch, as though she’s holding something delicate and precious, while his own hands clutch at her waist in a hopeless attempt to ground himself in reality. His heart soars. Too soon, far too soon, she pulls away.
Beckett shakes his head and follows desperately. “More,” he begs, seeking out her mouth again. He’s not sure that he can hold so much happiness and so much longing inside himself without bursting.
Freya makes a startled noise as he kisses her again, but he feels her smile just before she flings her arm around his neck and pulls him closer. A voice in the back of his head wonders whether he’s doing this properly, but then Freya’s hand finds its way into his hair again and no part of his mind can focus on anything other than the girl in front of him anymore.
Finally, finally when they break apart, Beckett rests his forehead against Freya’s and allows himself to smile. She grins back, biting her lip as her fingers slowly weave through his hair.
“More,” she says and he can’t help but feel a little proud that she sounds breathless.
He nods and on impulse steals another quick kiss. Freya gives a delighted laugh and gives him yet another.
Yes, more, he thinks as he wraps her in his arms. Much, much more.
