the white-throated sparrow is a small passerine bird that breeds in northern north america, wintering in the southern united states. the species is known for four distinct sexes that have different breeding behavior than most birds; there are two morphs, ‘white-striped’ and ‘tan-striped’, and almost always, opposites attract - white-striped individuals pair almost entirely with tan-striped individuals and vice versa. these birds primarily feed by foraging on the ground, and eat seeds, insects, and berries; their varied diet may include blackberries, grapes, and rose hips, along with being a frequent visitor of backyard birdfeeders.
