Hearing Aerith’s cheery and sweet voice, made Yuffie feel a bit more guilty as she hated making Aerith worry about her. Yuffie didn’t mind Aerith’s protective and motherly persona, in fact deep down: she admired it. After all, Aerith was the only person Yuffie had truly believed care about her and her well being. If anyone was to notice Yuffie being dead, it would be Aerith. Growing up in foster care, Yuffie had found the one thing in Aerith that she didn’t think she would ever find: safety and security.
Yuffie let out a small nervous chuckle yet again before answering Aerith’s question, in an effort to clear her throat. She smiled a bit when Aerith mentioned spending some time at her apartment. Yuffie could always count on finding shelter there.
“Well… I… you see… how do I put this delicately… okay, please promise me you won’t freak out… But, I’m at the police station.”
Yuffie knew better than to use the word “jail” in a sentence right now. After all, she knew she was going to have to explain eventually why she was arrested. That or the cop was going to. Better she did anyway.
@thegreatninjayuf
There was that nervous chuckle from the younger girl. Aerith knew that chuckle well enough to know that something was huge. The older female waited patiently though, as much as Yuffie got into trouble - a lot of it. She knew that she didn’t really mean for it.
Listening to her struggle getting the words out Aerith began moving around her kitchen area.
“I’m at the police station.”
Stopping midway as she puled out a pan Aerith was well... “Is that it?” Her voice rang out on the other end that she was certain Yuffie was having a heart attack just from her telling Aerith she was at the police station. In truth, she was expecting something a bit far worse. Though she knew the younger girl would be explaining when she picked her up and brought her back to the apartment she would be explaining.
Finishing with placing the pan on the stove she spoke again. “I will be there soon to get you.” Her voice still held the motherly tone, calm, warmth, voice never wavering.

Aerith was clearly very surprised when he told her he didn’t mind her tagging along, which he found a bit strange. Why should he have a problem with that? She probably just wanted to see if Ginryuu would be okay. Kurogane could understand that, it was probably what he would have offered if he was in her place. Thanking him for it seemed like a bit too much. “Eh”, he said and averted his gaze, a bit flustered about making her smile. “It’s not like I could keep you from following me, anyway, even if I wanted to.” He waved with the hand that was not holding the cage in a dismissive motion.
“Yeah”, Kurogane agreed when Aerith mused about vet bills. “And snakes are already pretty cheap compared to dogs or something.” He looked at Ginryuu in her cage, who weakly started to gobble up one of the dead grasshoppers. Kurogane let one of his fingers slide into the cage to brush a patch of her skin he could reach and patted her lightly. He was really worried about the old thing. He didn’t know what he’d do if she died. Especially since his husband was sick as well, and he was scared about him, too.
For now he was just really glad that she didn’t vanish and he found her.
Kurogane frowned. “Let’s go”, he said and started to head down to the vet department. It was a bit of a walk there from the flower beds.
@redeyedninja
Hearing his words she covered her mouth to muffle her laugh. “Well, even if you told me not to follow. I probably would find out around campus and ask how it went.” Clapsing her hands behind her back she tilted her body from side to side after she spoke.
Tapping a finger to her chin she hummed. “That is true, at least with snakes you don’t really have to worry about giving them their shots.” Resting her chin on the one finger she looked up at the male giggling. “Though, any animal is always pros and cons.” As she looked at Kurogane she could tell his mind was on something else, besides Ginryuu.
His brows scrunched together as he worried, then relaxed once it passed and his eyes were just in that far off gaze as his mind wasn’t there. Whatever it was made the male worry quite a bit. “Things will be fine.” Were her only words as she gave a sincere smile. Not knowing whatever he was thinking, but it was the only words she could give to him.
Nodding her head Aerith pumped her hands together in fists. “Roger!” Following after him she hummed quietly. “What do you do in your spare time Kuro?” Shortening his name already as they made their way.

Lapis found herself smiling at the brunette’s excited remark about her book. She thanked her and sat down in front of her, taking a bite from her brownie and mixing in some sugar in her tea. “Oh, nice to meet you, Aerith! I’m Lapis Lazulli, and yeah, I study at Twilight Town. I’m a freshman. You study there too, then?”
Although they were having a calm chat, the girl was still wondering whether she seemed too frightened of her conversation partner. It would be a shame if they both held back because of that, so she tried to be as open as she could.
She held the table in order to not jump too far back at the other’s comment on her nervousness. “It’s as if you could read minds, haha.” She let out an awkward laugh, part of her genuinely thinking the female could actually read minds, although it was obviously not the case.
Lapis took her camera from her neck at put it on the table upon hearing the comment on it. The change in topic allowed the young student to be more relaxed and she soon started talking more confidently. “Yeah, I do! The camera isn’t just for show!” Without thinking too much, she took a picture of Aerith to prove that the camera was working. She then showed her the photo, which proved that she looked like a character from an atmospheric scene in a movie. The lighting was just perfect everything blended perfectly. It felt so perfect that it earned a smile from the little perfectionist.
@aqualapis
Beaming another warm smile the younger girls way she nodded her head at Lapis’s question. Setting her cup down she spoke. “Pleasure to meet you as well Lapis. I do study there as well.” Brushing her bangs behind her ears she sat attentive now. “I’m in my Senior year studying floral design.”
Aerith was hoping that she could make the atmosphere pleasant for Lapis so she wouldn’t be so nervous? Actually, she was hoping she didn’t seem that intimidating to people... but someone like Lapis maybe she seemed to be? Ignoring that for now she focused on the young girl in front of her as she let out a light laugh. “I have been told that, but possibly I can read minds.”
Aerith had a semi serious look on her face, but it disappeared as she laughed. “Just kidding, I’m just very intuitive with things.” Taking another drink from her tea listening to the sudden excitment coming from Lapis Aerith inwardly chuckled. She found the topic that the female was fond of. Her attention was brought back to reality when a flash took her by surprise.
Blinking a few times the spots left her vision as Aerith she set her cup down as she leaned over to see the picture. Taking in the detail Aerith was happy. “You are a natural with the camera, Lapis.” She meant that as her eyes drew over everything in the picture.

the more this woman spoke, the more she reminded pearl of her mother. it was nearly driving her insane — yet at the same time, it was strangely comforting. she had only known this woman for a few minutes but she already admired her wisdom. still, it was nothing that could easily soothe her memories of her late mother, but she kept her act up.
“it’s hard to understand. i shouldn’t be crying, no matter what you say.”
her offer caught pearl by surprise. she really hadn’t expected something like that from someone as pretty as aerith, especially since pearl had been a crying mess a mere five minutes ago. as much as she wanted to just run away and forget about the whole encounter, aerith’s gentle smile compelled her to stay. there was something so alluring and gentle about the other. it was irresistible.
“i’d love to, but…are you sure it’s okay? i really don’t want to waste your time with some sob story…”
@pearlyfighter
She gave Pearl a sideways smile while shaking her head. “Even if it is hard to understand, it’s better then not saying it out loud.” It was like shaking a soda in the bottle with the lid still screwed on. Without releasing the pressure it just keeps building up and before anyone knows it once the lid is unscrewed, the liquid inside just explodes everywhere.
Aerith has witnessed enough with people who just kept everything bottled up, the outcome usually led to people having breakdowns and just mentally and physically drained. The female wanted to help Pearl, not because she was someone she just met, but because she felt like the other female had no one to really vent it all out too.
Covering her mouth Aerith let out a laugh to the girl’s response. “Of course I’m certain.” Letting her laugh die down she collected herself again before smiling. “If I wasn’t, then I wouldn’t have asked, silly.” Nodding her head liking the outcome she spoke. “Do you have a preference on drinks? Coffee? Tea?” Cocking her head to the side. “I know this little cafe, and if not then we can always go to my apartment if you want privacy.”

“Well. If that’s the case, you seem to have a good eye for them”, Kurogane said when Aerith told him she didn’t know much about snakes. He opened the transportation cage and carefully put Ginryuu back into the way too small thing. He also rummaged through his backpack where he had a little bag with dead grasshoppers, and he poured a few of those into Ginryuu’s cage, hoping she would eat a little.
He was a bit surprised when she asked him if she could come to the vet with him. He thought about it for a moment and decided that he wouldn’t mind it.
“Yeah”, he said. “Was going to bring her to the vet department at university.” There the students looked at the animals with their teachers for free to learn how to treat them. “I won’t stop you if you want to tag along.”
@redeyedninja
“Thank you.” She figured that was him being sincere and nice, compliment really. He seemed like the type of person who would be hard to approach, but for her he seemed friendly enough, and he wasn’t mad about her interacting with his snake. Speaking of snake, she watched as the male carefully put Ginryuu back into her carrier as he was delicate, and showed that he loved her dearly.
Honestly, she was surprised when he didn’t complain if she accompanied him or not. The shock was written on her face as it was then replaced with a big smile. “Thank you.” She laced her fingers together in front of her as smile widened.
Even though they just met, she enjoyed the snake greatly and worried about her health, not as much as Kurogane obviously, but the snake did wiggle it’s way into her heart.
“It’s good that the students get the experience, even better that students that bring their pets in get the treatment for free.” She then placed her index finger on her chin. “Vet bills can get pretty lengthy, especially if they have a lot of health problems.” Brushing that aside she pumped her hands together. “I shall follow you in your stead!”

Yuffie let out a heavy sigh as she waited patiently in the police station. Once again, she had been doing up to trouble. She couldn’t help it, it was almost like a drug to her, and now it had put her in major problems with the law. She waited impatiently as the police began to fill out the paperwork. These past few months had been just this… crime.
Doing illegal things always thrilled Yuffie when she was depressed. It gave her such a rush, an adrenaline, that could last nearly an entire week before she was itching for more. Her primary crime was stealing anything and everything. She had been doing well however like everything good in her life- it would have to come to an end. She was caught for mugging a random dude. Apparently he recognized her.
The cop wasn’t too harsh on her, recognizing how young she was and all. He gave her a warning however she still needed someone to come pick her up. She couldn’t call just anybody, telling them she was in jail and needed their help in getting her released. She sighed once more, knowing there was only one person who she could trust.
The ringing had only rang about three times before Yuffie heard the other end pick up. She cleared her throat, trying her best to drown out the guilt lodged in her throat.
“Hey, Aerith!” She casually started, pretty normal and chilled. “How are you? Say… Mind giving me a lift from somewhere?”
@thegreatninjayuf
The day started out normal for the brunette, she was just cleaning the apartment and deciding on what to make for food. Her thoughts were cut short as she heard her phone ringing. Actually, that ringtone was non other then “Yuffie!” Her phone rang three times before she had swept it off the kitchen table. The female cheered happily, and on the other end she heard the female’s cheerful voice. Well, kind of cheerful.
There was something wrong and Aerith could tell.
Her concern was confirmed as Yuffie finished her sentence. Resting her phone on her shoulder as the older women leaned against the counter top by the sink as she held in a sigh of worry. How long had it been since Aerith actually spoke with the mischief girl? She tried wrecking her brain, but couldn’t even think of a correct answer.
Some friend Aerith was, but Yuffie was still her best friend and she would do pretty much anything for the young girl.
Snapping back to her phone conversation she spoke. “Sure! Where do you need a lift? My apartment for a bit I’m sure.” Aerith pretty much didn’t leave any question for wherever Yuffie needed to go. Aerith’s ‘mom mode’ was in high gear and she wanted to make sure that the brunette was always there to lend an ear, even if Yuffie forgot.

“No problem at all.” He reassures, as he checks to see if she seemed to be hurt or anything else. He wasn’t sure what sort of person she was, but from what he had seen so far, she seemed like a nice person. He wasn’t the best judge of character though.
And as they stand there, she seemed to grow rapidly more worried, so he was starting to wonder if she was followed or something, as she sort of did show the same distress as a person that knew there was someone coming for them. Her eyes sort of flickering around, and she didn’t seem to be able to calm completely down.
“My name is Yuui.” He answers back, returning her smile as he was steeling himself for whatever weird question she was going to pop at him. Maybe there was someone following her? And this would sort of turn in to a big problem? Or maybe she was insane and paranoid and sure someone were after her? He had heard about people like that as well.
All considering what he were thinking about, what she asked about in the end was the most normal thing he had ever heard, and he probably gave a relieved sigh as he heard it.
“Meta club? That is easy. I just came from there now.” He chuckles, seeing her distress grow a little again as he motions for her to follow him. Yeah, probably either a nut case or something like that, at least if she was looking for the Meta club.
@big-kitty-on-campus
Eyes widened as he introduced himself in happiness. Smiling she responded. “Pleasure to meet you Yuui.” He seemed pleasant, nice even. He had a good aura about himself from what Aerith could tell. Aside from his presence she could tell that whatever was there was in and out of wanting to be noticed, but also not.
She was certain that Yuui could notice her discomfort. As much as she did her best to hide it, but the fact of the matter was that Aerith was kinda like an open book. Anyone and everyone could read her. Though sometimes she could be wrapped in a mysterious blanket, but 99% of the time, she was an open book for all to read. It didn’t help that her facial expressions gave way to whatever she was thinking.
Was he holding in his breathe? It seemed like it, hopefully the suspense didn’t kill him too much. Either way why would he be holding his breathe? Ah, that wasn’t her business to know. The matter at hand was answered as he spoke. “Oh.” So, he just came from that way? Hopefully she wasn’t bothering the male and he was busy at the moment, but when he motioned for her to follow she felt relief.
Following his steps she could feel her body at ease, a little. Actually, she probably should maybe explain to him for her distress. If he might not be part of it, maybe he could tell whoever was in charge of the group? “I’m sorry if I scared you upon my appearance.” Letting out a laugh she continued on. “I’m actually worried for a classmate.” Her eyes shone the worry, but she pressed on. “I actually came from meeting up with her, but our meeting was cut short due to... some events.”
The way she emphasized the events part wasn’t where she would ever lie, especially if it was at risk of her well being, but more so of Sarah’s. “At first we heard some noises - we or she didn’t pay too much attention, but there was a presence that... was not too friendly.” Brushing a strand of hair from her sight she let out a sigh. “It then turned to objects in the classroom being thrown in our direction, but I’m certain they were aiming for my classmate.”

Life was always working in mysterious ways, things happened in ways that were for a reason. And for her to have a run in with the Starbucks barista was one of those things that worked out for a reason. For that, Aerith couldn’t have asked for anything better - well, minus for the creep that wouldn’t leave her alone.
Hoping with the raven-haired male with her he wouldn’t try anything, but you may never know. People would do anything to get what they wanted.
Worst case, the police get called. Hopefully it wouldn’t get to that.
Grinning she gave a wink. “Of course, the usual grande iced chai latte.” It was like they were old time friends, if people looked at the two of them, no one would ever have guessed they were pretty much strangers - the only connection was that one class they had last semester.
Humming a bit she spoke as she watched him go about his job with her order. “So, how have you been doing Zex?” Shortening his name she leaned more on the counter as emerald orbs never left, as his name came to her back from last semester.
Allow Me
@floralnebulas
— There was something his mother used to say, and that was the idea of always being in the right place at the right time. Zexion thought about it often enough that it had become somewhat of a mantra to him. Even if he was irritated because the bus was running late, or if the checkout lady at the grocery was moving especially slow, he would remind himself that he was where he was supposed to be at that very moment. Today, right now, he was supposed to be working his lame part-time job as a Starbucks barista – because he was supposed to help the girl in front of him get away from the creep that had followed her in.
At least, that’s what Zexion told himself.
The reader nodded, confirming their plan. It would be much safer for her to leave the shop with someone else. The presence of another male was known to deter predators. Zexion might have been short and as thin as a dime, but he wouldn’t allow the brunette to be preyed upon. If it came down to it, he could ring the police.
But it was very doubtful that the man would try anything while he was around.
“Can I get you the usual?” he asked casually, speaking as if they had known each other for ages.

Oh good, he was playing along as well which made Aerith really relived. Her nerves were relaxed as she wasn’t as anxious. She could actually breathe without feeling suffocated.
Beaming a cheerful smile his way, the brunette couldn’t help but feel like she’d known him from somewhere. Upon closer inspection she was indeed correct, they had a class together last semester. It appeared he had recognized her as well since the look crossed his eyes.
“Oh! Perfect, I’ll be waiting for you here.” His gaze drew towards the creep who still held his stare on her and she paid no heed towards the entrance. Her attention right now was on the male who was saving her life, and that was right in front of her.
Allow Me
@floralnebulas
— The young woman seemed relieved when he caught her attention. He had strategically beckoned her to the other end of the shop, where their conversation could be heard but not impeded on without the man cutting through a line of customers. As she leaned against the counter across from him, he recognized a glimmer of relief in her eyes and the anxious trembling of her fingers. He didn’t know if she knew the unsettling man or not, but she was obviously disturbed by his presence – and that was enough reason for Zexion to step in.
Now that he had gotten a closer look at her, he recognized her from at least one of his classes last semester. Zexion wondered if she had recognized him as well. Either way, she was playing the “let’s pretend we’re friends” card to help ward off the man. He would happily go along with it.
“Of course,” he agreed. “My shift ends in ten minutes.” The reader paused, flicking his gaze towards the creep. “If you wait for me, we can walk together.”

@zexion-crowthe
The day had started out like any ordinary day, the day was clear, bright, and where everyone enjoyed the weather. Aerith was making her way towards her favorite cafe when she ha ended up meeting an individual who didn’t seem to take no for an answer.
Aerith had lots of patients was nice to anyone she met, but when someone wouldn’t leave her be and invaded her personal space her patients was already on a thin line. And it seemed no matter where she went it was like he was right there waiting for her.
She was someone who didn’t get spooked easily, but he was on the top of the list.
Quickly weaving in and out of the crowds she quickly made her way through the door of Starbucks. Trying her best to blend in with the crowd she could feel her heart race - afraid of him finding her. Playing with the end of her hair she did her best to show her composure being in the crowd, but it wasn’t until she heard the chime on the door ringing.
He had found her.
“I can help you over here, miss.”
The voice made her jolt in surprise a little, and she was sure the owner could tell. Turning her attention to the barista the very meaning behind his words made her relieved. So he had noticed and was willing to help her. Weaving past the people she made her way towards the counter, giving him a relaxed expression.
“I wasn’t expecting you to work today.” Starting the conversation off like they were close friends she could feel the guys stare on her - never leaving. Resting her elbows on the counter top she then held her chin on her palms as she spoke again. “So, our plans for today are still on, right?”
Allow Me
@floralnebulas
— Zexion was a highly observant individual, even during the most mundane part of his day: work. Being a part-time barista at the local Starbucks meant he ran into a wide variety of people and usually the reader forgot about every single one of them. It was his job to take orders, make coffee, and mop the floor. He didn’t do much more than that, which made his work relatively simple. He didn’t have to think very much about what he was doing, which allowed his attention to wander elsewhere.
Today, it wandered to the young woman that entered the cafe in a rush. She appeared to be fidgety and nervous, although her attempts to hide it were valiant. Something was troubling her, he could see it with a single glance, but it wasn’t his job to know what – or care.
Yet, his attention lingered. He watched her in his peripheral vision as he topped off a frappe with whipped cream and handed it to a coworker. A moment later, the jingle of a bell sounded above the door and another person entered – this one being much larger and much less secretive about his intentions. He eyed the very same girl Zexion had been watching, but his expression was focused. Recognizing. He had been looking for her.
Whatever scenario was about to unfold had successfully captured his full attention. He nears the ordering counter closest to the brunette and clears his throat to catch her attention before the man can.
“I can help you over here, miss.”

pearl shook her head in response to the other. it wasn’t her fault. it was her own fault for being so emotional and delusional in the garden. the memory of her mother just simply wouldn’t leave her in a place like this, where she was constantly reminded. she sniffed once more, wiping away the rest of her tears, feeling ashamed that someone caught her crying. people normally didn’t see her cry — she was normally stronger than that.
“it’s a pleasure to meet you too, aerith. i’m pearl.”
she was a little proud that her voice didn’t crack. had it, she would have lost any sense of composure she might have regained. instead, she tried standing a little taller, keeping her dancer’s posture she always prided herself on. but soon, the other girl’s next sentence had pearl nearly melting in a puddle, her nearly forgotten emotions nearly pouring out.
“no, i — i really shouldn’t be crying. it’s…stupid. i’m being stupid.”
@pearlyfighter
“And a pleasure to meet you, Pearl.”
As Aerith took a better look at the female in front of her, Pearl was a suitable name. She could tell Pearl took pride in whatever she did, and Aerith found that admirable within someone.
Giving her a warm smile she shook her head. “Nothing is ever stupid, especially if it makes you cry.” Looking up at the lake that they were close by she then turned her attention to Pearl. “It’s nice to be strong and have composure, but it also takes courage to cry.”
Aerith was most likely the last person she wanted to see, and the last person she would probably want to speak with about this. The brunette was pretty head strong and she refused to really let this slide on her watch. “Do you care to go grab something to drink?” Hopefully it would help relax Pearl’s nerves. “Even though I’m a stranger, I can be someone to listen.”

big-kitty-on-campus:
Yuui hadn’t been feeling well again, and because of it he was walking around at school late again, trying to pick up and get everything he needed to do done before it was too late. He had some papers he needed to hand in to a teacher earlier, and had thankfully been able to get them there in time. Then he had spent some hours making sure everything else was on course.
It had been a lot of work, but he was pleased now, as he was sure everything were covered for the week. Hand ins done, homework done.
There wasn’t anything he had forgotten, right? He had a feeling there was something else he had been supposed to do. The blonde stops in the hallway, thinking hard for himself as he was sure there was something else he had been thinking about earlier.
Ah! He had some Meta club stuff he had to look through!
A sudden grunt as someone had just walked right into him, and he is able to keep his balance, quickly reaching his hands down to keep the lady from faltering and to help her if the books fell from her hands.
He hadn’t seen her before, but she seemed a little distraught.
“Are you okay?” He asks, giving a warm smile to her as he moves a little back to give her some space.
@big-kitty-on-campus
Feeling someone help keep her balance Aerith darted her attention upwards to a male. Blinking once, twice, then three times she let a smile appear as she nodded her head. Bowing as he stepped away giving her space she spoke. “Ah, yes. I’m okay thank you. Sorry for bumping into you, my attention was elsewhere.”
Brushing her bangs away from her sight she took a good look at the male. Had she seen him around from somewhere? Maybe, but there was so many students here it was difficult to really pinpoint who was who, especially if they weren’t from the buildings really.
As she was still stuck in her thoughts she couldn’t help but feel that something was lurking around, and the hairs at the back of her neck stood up again. Ah, that was right she was trying to think of where the Meta club existed. Taking a look at the person in front of her she forgot about him.
“Oh, my apologies, my name’s Aerith.” Beaming him a smile she then cocked her head to the side, maybe he would know. “I, have maybe an odd question for you.” Would it be odd to just ask him the question? Well, he was the only one around, and she did feel like she could trust him. “Do you know where I can find the Metaphysical Existence club?”
As she was feeling that presence again it just disappeared. Maybe she was still a little shaken up from the encounter earlier with Sarah. Hopefully she was alright and nothing terrible would happen to her. Aerith was definitely used to the paranormal, but this... whatever this was. It was a menace, a menace that Aerith wasn’t able to handle on her own.
